The Robin's Nest is a cottage home surrounded by decks and a lovely flower garden and located in the heart of the Point Reyes National Seashore.
The Robin's Nest was built as a hunting and fishing retreat in the 1920's when people came to the area by boat, train and stage coach. It is located in a residential area overlooking Tomales Bay in a sun belt. It is 3 miles from the Point Reyes National Seashore headquarters and the park trail system. It is 2 miles from the town of Point Reyes Station which is the regional center(although only has a population of 500) with restaurants, an excellent grocery store and various shops. The Point Reyes lighthouse is approximately 15 miles out to the coast and provides an excellent vantage point where the whales pass by twice a year .
Inverness Park and the Robin's Nest are 38 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge so it is readily accessible to San Francisco. Because it is located in the National Seashore and along the coast line, it is in a protected zone so the surroundings are rural even though so close to the urban attractions of the Bay Area.
The house has a living room, dining area, den(with a pull out couch), kitchen, bedroom and two baths. A second bedroom and bath are located in a separate smaller building behind the main house. The two buildings are totally surrounded by approximately 900 square feet of decking which allows for taking full advantage of the outdoors.
There is a sauna and one of the bathrooms in the main house has a steam bath, so getting the ache out after a long run or hike is no problem.
The house is well equipped with a gas grill, cable TV and VCR, sound system and comfortable furniture and art work reflecting the Latin American travels of the owners. The kitchen has necessary cooking equipment, a new self cleaning electric stove and basic cooking condiments.
The house is heated by a Vermont castings wood burning stove and there is plenty of fire wood. Electric heaters are available to supplement the wood stove while it heats up.

Thanks so much for a relaxing weekend in your wonderful house. We had a great time kayaking in Tomales Bay and then relaxing in your sauna and our children especially enjoyed eating apples off the tree. We look forward to our next trip to Inverness!

Dear Grace and Bob, Just wanted to let you know how very, very much Polly (and the boys) are adoring your Robin’s Nest. I keep wishing you could be eavesdropping on her gushing appreciations of the cottage -- all the darling interior decoration, attention to detail, the well-loved dear garden, views of Elephant Mt etc etc etc Every day we’re grateful to you for letting us be there.

A blessed weekend! Soft, cloudy, sunny weather allowing beach hikes! Your bird's nest perch is perfect in every way. We can hardly wait to return with our grand daughters. Lovely grounds and decks. Beautiful, heart-stopping birdsong and sightings.

Bob and Grace - We don't know you, but we love you! Amazing tree stump and Buddha. Steam shower was too wonderrful! Mimi said "I like not hearing cars". And then Sallie made up a game where we had to construct sentences that started with the same initial letters - I L N H E. See how things go when you get out of the city and into a peaceful, relaxing environment?

Once again the peace and the presence of this house and all it contains has worked its magic. It has been a truly wonderful and wonder-filled experience. Stopping to listen to the bird song (and watch the raptor in the bent tree), bathing in the filtered light, and watching each sunrise here ...well, it is ineffable.

Your nest was exactly what we needed - an eclectic, cozy home for the holidays - with every comfort accounted for: from the view and the birds in the morning to the comfortable beds and ambiance. We enjoyed the proximity to such wonderful walks - Abbott's lagoon being stunning in some dramatic weather. We hope to be back again in the spring.

We too are lovers of color, art, light, comfort and enchanted places and thus knew we had stepped into our dream cottage. We helped ourselves to a few falling applies and sprigs of rosemary from your garden - perfect with goat chees.

Dear Bob and Grace. In your sweet place, we slowed the pace of our daily race...to celebrate, in lower gear, our marriage ride of 40 years. Which brought us - and who would have guessed - right here to the Robin's Nest. We are grateful. So many thanks.
