The state of Oaxaca is noted for its ethnic and botanical diversity, its ancient cities and contemporary craft villages, its cuisine and its visual artists. Oaxaca City, its capital, draws many tourists to its celebrations of Semana Santa (Easter Week) and Días de los Muertos (the Days of the Dead), and students to its many language schools.

If you are new to the City, Eva offers an orientation day tour in English of the Centro Historico, as well as recommendations for restaurants, museums, tours, drivers, and trips to artists' homes. Eva can also guide you to the best local galleries, shops, markets, and health care providers. Only two blocks from Casa Eva is the ADO bus terminal, where taxis are available whenever you prefer not to walk. The ADO luxury buses provide comfortable trips to other cities and states.

    • I visited Oaxaca this summer with my 8 year old son and we spent two weeks in Eva's home. The rental is beautiful and extremely comfortable, and the location is perfect- very convenient to shops, Internet cafes, and the taxi stand at the ADO bus station. My son and I both felt very much at home. Eva is a warm, friendly and gracious hostess who helped us make the most of our visit. She clearly loves Oaxaca and is full of information and suggestions about things to see and do. I feel that, thanks to her, I got to know Oaxaca in a way that I would not have done otherwise! Since our return home my son regularly asks me when we can go back. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Casa Eva to anyone visiting Oaxaca, and I hope to go back very soon!

    • This endorsement for Casa Eva is somewhat overdue but very sincere and enthusiastic. We spent a wonderful 10 days in Oaxaca in February '08 made all the more enjoyable by our stay at Casa Eva and its most gracious hostess. Eva has decorated and equipped the apartment with the very best of everything that one could desire in a home away from home: resident parrot, art work, rugs, books, pottery, top-notch appliances, cooking utensils, etc., etc., etc.--and in a quiet neighbourhood just a short taxi ride or good walk to the Zocalo. The lovely garden, ground-floor patio, and rooftop terrace are also pluses. The only negative is that our time there was too short! Next time we'll come for a month.

    • We spent a wonderful month during the winter of 2008 in Eva's house in the city of Oaxaca. We occupied the entire first floor of the house, which is light and spacious, decorated with original artwork and hand-woven rugs. Large windows open out to a charming garden and patio. The kitchen is large and very well equipped. Eva's house is an oasis of peace and quiet, located on a small, one-way street, but also close to shops, banks, restaurants, and the first-class bus station. The residence is on the edge of the historic district, within walking distance of the main attractions.
