Great Berkshires Experience

We stayed for a four-day weekend and really enjoyed the visit, and the house added to that. We arrived to find it immaculate. Good start! The layout is very good with two-car parking that is convenient to the back door for carrying in luggage. You enter a really modern kitchen featuring a nice breakfast bar and an adjacent dining room with a great, big dining room table. There is a sort of foyer in between there and the living room, and on front of the house a play room/3rd bedroom with fold-down futon. The downstarirs is roomy and comfortable. The bedrooms are in the eves of the house, so on the edges they are a little short, but it didn't bother the kids at all, who had a great time playing and shared the bedroom with two twins. The master features a king bed, and while closets are out in the hallway, both bedrooms have dressers that offer more than enough storage for a temporary stay. My wife loved the washer/dryer, and was ecstatic to return home with nothing but clean clothes. The basement was clean and neat and well lit, making the washer/dryer very accessible. The two full bathrooms were modern and comfortable. All in all, a very pleasing experience. As for location, I don;t think it can be beat. The house is a two-block walk from Williams College campus and downtown. We strolled - even in the cold - to a local bookstore, some restaurants, and even used the college track for a workout in the mornings. The location is berkshire central, tucked up in the very Northwestern corner of Massachusetts, minutes from the VT and NY borders, close to some skiing, at the end of the Mohawk Trail (RT-2), and about 30 minutes from Lee's outlet shopping and Lenox's Tanglewood and other cultural sites. But, Willamstown is the place to stay. I don't think there si anywhere else in the area that allows for the same level of local, walking shopping, dining and other activities (i.e., we went to men's and women's basketball and hockey games at Williams College that weekend - all free). Can't recommend the rental highly enough. This place is obviously the work of a very caring and skilled owner who has put in a lot of work and should take a lot of pride.

The house was perfect. It is difficult to add anything new to what other reviewers have said - it is all true. Amy is just great and makes you feel truly welcome. Matt is clearly an expert at decoration and remodelling. This house is just beautiful.

I'll repeat the word immaculate as seen in other reviews, couldn't have found a speck of dust in the place if I'd wanted to! Bright, light, clean and stocked with everything you need. Owners are great communicators, and all aspects of handling the rental went very smoothly. We rent through VRBO at least a couple times a year, and this rental is really top-shelf. You can walk to Williams if you have a student there, and there is a big grocery (Stop 'n Shop) only a few miles towards North Adams. We had great Greek food at Olympic Pizza (just a few miles towards North Adams on Route 2) and awesome Mexican food at Coyote Flaco (towards Piittsfield south of town). Highly recommend this rental!

My husband, infant son and I stayed at this property in late March 2010. We found it to be a perfect rental home -- charming house, great lay-out, modern appliances, comfortable furniture. The location can not be beat in Williamstown, it's right in the center of town. Overall the home was clean, well-stocked and maintained. We would stay there again, and would recommend it to anyone.

Thank you Amy for a wonderful stay. Your house is beautiful! In fact, your pictures don't begin to do it justice. For prospective renters, no worries here. This home seems newly remodeled. It is fresh, roomy and clean. The kitchen/dining area is especially nice. It provided a perfect setting for me to serve a homecooked meal to my college boy! I am not used to road traffic and so I did notice that in the night. Otherwise, highly recommended!

We rented this house in order to have our own place for a family reunion in the area. IMMACULATE is the word for this house---even the basement is neat and organized (I especially appreciated the washer and dryer). We have two kids ages nine and eleven who loved the upstairs twin bedroom and immediately keyed into the games and DVD player. I easily cooked for the extended family on two occasions during our visit and found the layout of the kitchen and family room a great plus for entertaining. We walked to Wild Oats organic grocery and also to various and sundry shops in town. Great fun going to various WIlliams College games and venues! The biggest thrill was totally unexpected--We saw a young MOOSE walking along the bank of the nearby river when walking to the store---What a surprise and a rush! We've rented houses in various parts of the U.S. and abroad---This place ranks up at the top. I was thankful I didn't have to rush out to get dishwashing soap and paper goods as I've had to in other rentals we've used. The place is truly as advertised. A lovely and convenient house.

Hi Amy & Matt, My three sisters and I had a delightful stay at your lovely cottage! We found the house beautifully decorated and immaculate. The beds were quite comfortable, and we really enjoyed hanging out in the large open floor plan on the first floor. There is so much to see and do in Williamstown, we will definitely be back. Warm regards, Amy, Judy, Barbara & Diane

I recently traveled to Williamstown for reunion with my husband and 19 month old son. We rented this cottage with another couple and their 2 children, 3 and 7 months. It couldn't have been more perfect-- We arrived to find the house IMMACULATE, with everything we would need for a weekend (or longer) away. Little extras such as "emergency" coffee, internet hookup, board games, books, and DVD's were especially appreciated. There were even potted flowers at the entrance. This home has obviously been updated and maintained with a lot of love. The only caveat: there is low clearance in the eaves of the upstairs bedrooms/bath, due to the cape style of the home. This was not an issue for us (we are all vertically challenged :), but might be for a taller group. Looking forward to staying there at next reunion!

We were delighted with this house when we stayed in March/April 09. It was immaculately clean, neat and comfortable and had all of the equipment, bedding and furnishings we needed for the 5 of us (including 2 children) during our 2 week stay, including a washer and drier in the basement. The house is light and spacious with the living room larger than it looks in the photo – the sofa easily seats 4 people! The style is neutral and uncluttered and it looked very recently decorated. The modern kitchen was well equipped and we managed to cook for 9 (we have family living nearby) who all fitted around the large dining table. Both bathrooms were very clean and modern with plenty of towels provided. There was also spare bedding enough for colder nights (and a very efficient heating system) and the bedrooms were very comfortable with lots of storage space. We also used the playroom downstairs as a bedroom and my mother reported that the futon bed in there was very comfortable (and she’s not normally a fan of futons!) The outside space is small, but there is a patio table and chairs and enough space to park 2 cars. For families there is a good kids' playground 5 minutes walk away in Linear Park. We appreciated the jigsaws, kids’ DVDs, board games and good selection of books provided by the owners. Despite being on a main road, we were not disturbed by traffic noise and we liked the convenience of being within short walking distance of the pretty town centre. We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of Williamstown, the Clark and Williams art galleries, hiking in the beautiful countryside and also used the pool at Williams Inn. North Adams is a short drive away and was good for supermarkets and other larger shops as well as Mass MoCA and Mount Greylock Bowl. We would also highly recommend visiting the Hancock Shaker Village. The owners of the house were very pleasant and helpful and I would recommend this house to anyone.

We enjoyed staying in this very clean, very well appointed cottage on Route 2 in Williamstown. The sheets for the spare bed were neatly labeled, the towels and sheets were of a high quality, the kitchen was extremely clean and well built, and the overall quality of house was of a very high standard, particularly the two bathrooms. If you don't mind the noise of being on a busy road such as Route 2, this is a great place to stay. You're within walking distance of Williams College, with the Williamstown Theatre Festival and the Williams College Museum of Art (both of which we loved) and not far from either the Clark Art Institute and the MoCA in North Adams. The garden is very small, however, and although there is an outdoor dining set (for 4) we didn't use it as it's a little too noisy with the traffic outside.
