"Barefoot On The Beach"
Unit #199 in Barrier Dunes
Premium Location in Barrier Dunes
By Far the Largest Deck in Barrier Dunes
2 Full Sides on the Beach
If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, no crowds, gorgeous sunsets, lush landscaping, serene peaceful setting, sugar white sand, emerald water, walking your dog on the beach, no high rise buildings, no crowded highways, yet lots of activities if you choose, this is the vacation rental for you.
This is a gulf front unit in Barrier Dunes with a hugh wrap around deck on 2 full sides of the townhouse letting you enjoy the view of the gulf and beach to the maximun. Barefoot has the premium location in Barrier Dunes. The townhouse is 2 bedrooms PLUS a loft and 2 1/2 bathrooms and sleeps 10. It is an end unit sitting diagonal to the beach giving you two full sides on the beach. There is a fabulous views out of every room of the Gulf and the beach. The loft has stairs leading up to it(unusual for Barrier Dunes, usually there are only stairs). There is a wood burning fireplace in the living room. All the main floor furniture was replaced and freshly painted 1 1/2 years ago. The second story and loft were freshly painted this year. The main living area is all tile. It is pet friendly and dogs are allowed on the beach.
There is a private enclosed outside shower to rinse off and another shower on the deck. I provide alot of amenities like a TV with a DVD player in each bedroom, hair dryer and curling iron in each bathroom, beach chairs, toys, floats, noodles, puzzles, games, books and much more. Please go to my website beaches-beaches-beaches for a more complete listing of amenities. The unit is well cared for and all furniture is in excellent condition. The unit has 1556 sq ft of air conditioned area. You can enjoy a truly relaxing vacation here.
Barrier Dunes is a gated community with boardwalks connecting you to the beach and other amenities. There are 2 swimming pools(one on the Gulf and the other is by the tennis courts and is solar heated), 3 man made stocked ponds, 2 lighted tennis courts, children's playground, club house, pet stations and much more. The community and beach are very dog friendly. Barrier Dunes sits right next door to St. Joe State Park (2500 acres) which has boat ramps. You can park your boat underneath the unit. Barrier Dunes is a very friendly community.
In 2002, Dr. Beach ranked it the #1 beach in the United States. The beach has numerous sand dunes, sugary white sand, turquoise/emerald water and a serene setting. The beach was restored in May 2008. There are no high rises on all of Cape San Blas, giving you uncrowded beaches and no traffic jams on the roads. This is an undiscovered gem on the forgotten coast of "Old Florida".
Cape San Blas is 20 miles long (of which St. Joe State Park are 10 miles of the 20) and at it's widest point is a mile across. The Gulf of Mexico is on one side and the tranquil waters of St. Joe Bay on the other (making it great for kayaking and canoeing).
Cape San Blas is east of Port St. Joe and 25 miles west of Apalachicola. It is about 50 miles east of Panama City and 110 west of Tallahassee.

Well it's been two days since we left Cape San Blas...and we are still depressed. At the moment we are in a hotel room overlooking Bourbon Street in New Orleans, which we thought we would enjoy, but we keep commenting how we wish we were back at the Cape. The condo was perfect and had absolutely everything we needed and more. The owner was very friendly and has taken the time to consider and provide pretty much anything you can think of . Our favorite part of the unit was the AWESOME deck. It is, hands down, the BIGGEST deck and the BEST location in Barrier Dunes. We had our morning coffee on the deck and enjoyed the shade and the nice breeze. We spent most of every day in the lounge chairs soaking up the sun. The weather was perfect and the breeze kept us from getting too hot. Again, we took to the deck in the evenings to watch the sunset while having a glass of wine. This is a fantastic vacation spot if you are looking for peace and quiet. And although we didn't venture out much, there are places to rent kayaks and bicycles or arrange fishing boat charters. Maybe we'll check that out on our next visit. While you are there, be sure to visit the "Indian Pass Raw Bar" (98East towards Apalachicola - about 12 miles from Barrier Dunes) Excellent food if you like Oysters, Shrimp, and Crab Legs. We ate there three times during our week stay! We visited restaurants in both Port St. Joe and Apalachicola but kept coming back to this one. We found our favorite convenient store to be "The Trading Post." Very nice folks running the place and a very good selection. We will definitely be planning another trip back to Cape San Blas soon!
Owner response:Thanks you so very much for taking the time to write the review. I really appreciate it.

This home is just wonderful - first of all the location, not to mention the home and the wonderful, dear sweet owner. All of those things made for a fantastic week-long vacation that just couldn't have been any better. With only a few steps away from the beach, you could not only sit on the huge deck and practically be on the beach but you could also see it from most sides of the home. Also, being pet friendly (as the whole Barrier Dunes) all around us was a blessing too. The constant breeze was great too. I am not sure if we were just blessed our week of being there or if it is that way all the time, but it was great too. Sometimes you are taking such great risk on choosing your vacation site - based on the location, availability, and are you just not sure, but from the moment we saw this home, we knew it was the right choice and boy were we right! Thanks Judy for sharing your wonderful vacation home with us. We will definitely be back. Loved everything about your home and the area. It was truly a much needed and wonderful get- a-way. The cape is just a beautiful place.

Your place at Cape San Blas, "Barefoot on the Beach", is absolutely wonderful. We just loved it!!!! We were so comfortable and you had so many thoughtful amenities in the kitchen and throughout that we were really able to relax and enjoy eachother. The views are amazing and the sunsets were some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The window seat is perfect and I claimed it alot of the time :-). Each day was different - from warm and still and cloudy to windy and sunny and chilly - all terrific! We walked the beach, played games, collected shells, roasted marshmallows and s'mores on a beach fire (several nights), and we rode bikes and hiked in the park, and even rode horses on the beach! Our dogs, Oliver and Lily, loved the beach (not the water - ha, ha) and they romped and played till they wore themselves out! I think you have the best unit in the complex and it was noticed by others. I gave your name, website, and contact info to two other families that were staying in other units but noticed your wrap around porch and window seat and approached us asking about your unit. One couple was from Suwanee, Georgia, and I think they were interested in renting your place for spring break! We are definitely interested in coming back and everyone is already talking about making it a Thanksgiving tradition! I personally would also like to visit in the summer. I hope we can return soon. I am so missing the serenity of the place and the amazing views... Thank You! Susan & Alex Marietta, GA

I just wanted to let you know what a great time we had at the Cape. My daughter kept repeating what we all felt, "this is the most wonderful place I have ever been. " We all agree! Thank you for having such a great place. We hope to return to the Cape next year. We hope our whole family will get to go, so your place probably won't be big enough, but we'll definitely keep it in mind and recommend it to others. Thanks, MaryLynn Phillips
