French doors from master bedroom opening onto terrace and garden
Location: Other London Properties, London, England, United Kingdom, Europe
Accommodations: Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-5)
Comfortable 2 double-bedroom garden apartment in leafy Forest Hill, London. Ideal for a family, 2 couples, corporate travellers, visiting academics, or those working in London on a short-term basis.
The apartment occupies one-half of an Edwardian brick house in a quiet residential area of the city. With its own private garden and patio, its high ceilings, natural wood and quarry tile floors, 3 fireplaces, and custom-built Massachusetts wooden shutters, the apartment is the perfect place to relax following a busy day of either work or pleasure.
The added benefit of ADSL Internet connectivity for guests' laptops will be useful to those who need to do business from London on a 24-hour basis or who wish to stay in touch with family and friends via e-mail. The apartment also has a transformer for American and Canadian electronic devices such as printers, and we are able to provide you with a mobile phone to use while in London. In addition, we can arrange to have a cab meet you at either Heathrow or Gatwick airport and deliver you to the door for £35 - £40 for 4 people. Alternatively, we can provide you with detailed instructions on using public transport to arrive at your destination.
Fully furnished and self-contained, the apartment has generous-sized rooms, 2 comfortable beds - 1 king-size and 1 super king-size which converts to 2 generous singles, custom-built overstuffed furniture in the living room, full bath with powerful shower, 'bespoke' wooden cabinets in the eat-in kitchen, a superb stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, separate dryer, and the other usual kitchen items. Access to the garden is through French doors from the master bedroom, and a side door from the kitchen.
Forest Hill is in southeast London, SE23. The number 75 bus from directly across the street will deliver you to the train station in 4 minutes (or you can leisurely walk there in 12 minutes) where trains travel regularly to London Bridge and Charing Cross in central London; the journey to London Bridge takes 16 minutes, and to Charing Cross is 21 minutes. The Charing Cross journey is fabulous – the train travels among the rooftops of some of the oldest parts of London, passes under the Rose Window of Southwark Cathedral and across the Thames with spectacular views of Big Ben, the London Eye and Houses of Parliament. From either London Bridge or Charing Cross you can take the underground/tube/metro or the British Rail overland train to anywhere in London. If you are working in The City, at Canary Wharf, teaching at any of London's universities, or working in London in any capacity, transport is within easy reach.
