You will delight in the seclusion and the pastoral serenity of our 20-acre property, part of a 1000 acre ranch. Panoramic Ocean and spectacular Mauna Kea views are yours from your suite's lanai and living area. The elevation of 1000+ feet makes for cooler nights, a pleasant change from tropical heat. You'll feel miles away, but you're close to all that the Big Island has to offer.

Your spacious (nearly 500 square feet) non-smoking guest suite has its own dining area, equipped with a roomy suite-sized refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. As a guest at our ranch (built just 3 years ago), you are treated like family. Guests are most welcome to enjoy our extensive library of books and games. If you have the urge to cook, we would be glad to set you up in the gourmet kitchen of the main house.

We currently have one suite available for rental: Unit A has two queen size beds, and a daybed and sleeps up to 5 people comfortably.


Discounts available for active duty or retired military personnel and for stays longer than one week.

50% Deposit required to hold rental due ten days after booking. Cancellation fees apply if canceled with less than 30 days notice. Until confirmed, all rates are subject to change without notice.

  • Within ten minutes you can be in the charming old city of Hilo, with fine and casual dining, theatres, museums, shops, gardens and the renowned “Farmer’s Market” held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Nearby you can enjoy the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, the only tropical zoo in the country, Mauna Loa macadamia nut farm and factory and the Big Island Candy Factory. Within 45 minutes you can be exploring the Volcano National park. Or you can be head up to Waipio Valley (45 minutes), be at the best of the Kona-side beaches in 60 minutes, or to the center of Kailua-Kona (90 minutes).

  • During April 2008 I stayed for 2 weeks at the wonderful Onomea Bay Ranch. I had a very warm welcome and the serenity of the surrounding land and view from my bedroom was priceless. I very much felt welcomed on Vicky's and Ben's ranch. Like a good fairy Vicky provided me now and then with delicious food and we had very nice talks. The whole surrounding is very precious and I have been on other Hawaian islands and this spot is one of the most spectacular. Ursula Switzerland

  • We don't know what to praise more, Ben and Vicki as hosts or the accomodations and surroundings that they provide. They live on gorgeous Onomea Bay Ranch, a quiet, secluded and scenic piece of paradise only 15 minutes from the Hilo airport. Ben and Vicki are the living embodiment of hospitality and the aloha spirit. They welcomed us like family. From actually greeting us at the airport and escorting us to their home, to recommending a chiropractor, to their personal 5:30 AM wake-up call to help us make our early morning flight, their efforts to ensure our comfort were extraordinary. Of special interest was their fascinating art and collectibles from around the world. Our room was spotless, large, comfortable, with beautiful decor and lots of unexpected amenities like a refrigerator, microwave and dishes. There were many nice touches upon our arrival such as a bowl of fresh fruit on the kitchen table. When you come to the Big Island, we heartily recommend you stay with Ben and Vicki!

  • Just wonderful! We enjoyed our stay at Vicki and Ben’s place very much. We were treated like family. The room was very spacious with spectacular view of Onomea Bay. Dishes, utensils, fruits, coffee, towels, shampoo and conditioner included. For the price you will get a lot more than at any Hilo hotel. We are definitely coming back again.
