The Oar House - A Little Bit of Heaven on Lake Lanier

The Oar House is an awesome place no matter the time of year. It's great in the summer for water play and relaxing. The view is spectacular, and you can swim right from the deck. It's beautiful in the fall when the autumn leaves are reflecting on the lake. Not far to a Clemson football game and then back to the lake to enjoy the autumn weather. In the winter it's just peaceful and quiet, and it's a great time for hiking and biking. This newly renovated home sits right on the lake. You have to see it to believe it! There is a living room and dining with a fully equipped kitchen all open to each other.
This house has three levels. It can be rented with two master suites and 2.5 baths or with four bedrooms and 3.5 baths. The main level suite has a queen bed and the upper level suite has a queen bed, a daybed in the bedroom and a sitting room with a sofa that could sleep one. (It is not a sleeper sofa). Both suites have private baths. Both bedrooms have absolutely awesome views of the lake. The lower level has 2 bedrooms and a full bath. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom has a double bed and bunks. Both rooms have vanity sinks.
There are three wonderful decks to relax on and eat on if desired. There is also an eating bar in the living area with six bar stools and the dining room table seats 8 comfortably.
The 1930s Lake Lanier Tea House is a very short drive or a pleasant walk to dinner on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and brunch on Sunday.

This house was perfect for the three of us. The house was clean and was very nicely decorated. The beds were comfy as were the sofa and chairs. The owners were available whenever we called them and they were very nice to work with. We would definitely recommend this house and hope to return in the future. When in the area, we recommend you go to Pearson's Falls on Hwy. 176 and eat at 10 North Trade St. Cafe. The Tryon Arts and Crafts on Harmon Field Rd. has a very nice gift shop as does Vines & Stuff on Trade St. in Tryon. Check to see if something is playing at the Tryon Fine Arts Center. :-)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

What a beautiful place! We came together from MO, NY, and PA to attend our son's wedding. The Oar House was great. We had plenty of room for the eight of us. The sereneness of the Oar House made it ideal for relaxing and visiting. We loved the little towns of Tryon and Landrum. It truly is an escape from reality.Did you find this review helpful? I am almost afraid to write a review on this property for fear that it will be discovered by too many. However, I don't want to be selfish in my find. This was by far the best relaxing vacation we ever had as a family. A lot to do or nothing and everyone is happy. The house is extremely comfortable and functional and right on the water, literally. You can step off the porch into the nice cool mountain lake. Canoe around or float the day away on a raft. Close to Duke State Park with its beautiful waterfalls, as well as Peason's Falls and the quaint town of Tryon. The Lake Lanier Tea House is the best bet for a meal and especially Sunday brunch. House close to grocery and drug stores, but away from it all as well. Owners delightful! I will be returning to this house without question.Did you find this review helpful? We booked the Oar House for a Family Birthday & Reunion. 9 adults were in and out during the weekend but the house is so arranged that we never tripped over each other. The spacious kitchen is perfect for cooking - and deck is a picture perfect setting for the meals we produced. The beds are super comfortable and the place is spic and span. The kitchen is had everything we needed and the applicances are new and were trouble free. The lake view is worthy of a picture postcard. Tyron is just 5 min. away which made for easy grocery store runs. We've already booked a return visit in 2010. Our children with their husbands/wives stayed at Oar House for our 2009 family reunion (we kept the grandkids so the adults could have a break). Without exception they all gave Oar House rave reviews. They said it really was "a little bit of heaven."Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The house and lake are great and the owners are very accommodating. The house is ideal for a family get together. Kitchen, baths, outside sports gear are all well equipped. We hope to stay there again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
