Chalet Quietude is a quiet place in the tranquil forest of the Smokey/Blue Ridge Mountains on 3 acres with two views. The surrounding land is vacant or undeveloped which adds to the privacy. It's an easy drive (15 minutes) to and from Asheville, North Carolina - 12 miles. Directions to the cabin are simple.
The grounds are gently landscaped so as not to intrude on nature. Chalet Quietude is so close to Asheville, you never really sense you are leaving town. Yet, it is just far enough to be away from the city, in the mountains, and close enough for you to be in the middle of all the festivals and fun in just moments.
Driving to the Blue Ridge Parkway (10 minutes), the Biltmore (20 minutes) or any other activity is easy. You will always feel you are in the center of activity, yet when you want to escape, Chalet Quietude is waiting for you, peacefully. It has become a romantic get-away for many couples celebrating an anniversary, engagement and/or birthday. A family retreat is also a popular reason to stay at Chalet Quietude.
The chalet-styled cabin is comfortable and cozy, newly renovated and decorated for your comfort. Plenty of windows to view the natural beauty of the surrounding forest. A wood burning fireplace sits proudly in the living area ready to create the beauty and warmth for your winter vacation with us.
The furnishings were chosen to provide the utmost in comfort & relaxation. The pillow-top mattresses, bed sheets & pillows are luxurious & white for cleanliness. 3 bedrooms with king, queen & a twin bed over full bed (bunk bed) sleeps 7 comfortably.
The kitchen is arranged for family cooking & conversation with a dining counter built around the cook top. We permit smoking outside only & cannot permit pets even though we love them. Children are welcome with your respectful guidance.
We have 3 flat panel TVs with DirecTv satellite & wireless internet, a washer/dryer, hair dryer, robes, and more.
Our hot tub is in the best possible place to relax with the surrounding forest. Sunsets & soaking in the hot tub is the perfect end to a day of adventure & fun.

This wonderful Asheville cabin at the top of the mountain offered the most incredible, endless view and complete solitude. The furnishings were totally "comfy" and the feel of the cabin was welcoming and warm! The kitchen had every utensil that you could think of and the layout was easy and relaxed. This was truly a haven where one could get away from it all! I will certainly return in the future and look forward to seeing the other seasons at this beautiful retreat!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We stayed here January 21st weekend and really enjoyed the cabin. We had no choice due to the rainy conditions, but it was what we came there to do. The cabin felt very comfortable and cozy. It had anything we needed. In addition to this, Brea was great to work with and has all the details provided so you know what you need to bring. There are great views from the porch and hot tub. The area surrounding the cabin is very private. Very close to Asheville and Chimney Rock if you want to get out and explore. We didn't get a chance to hike the trail nearby, but hope to next time.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Sometimes a rainy day can make for cozy family times together. It is so easy to enjoy reading by the fire or playing a game of scrabble. I hope to have you back again in the lush summer when the forest is alive and green. Thank you for the time you took to let us know.

The last time we slept in a bed that comfortable while travelling was at the Royal Sonesta. Definite 5 stars for the amenities, everything is new, clean, soft sheets and robes, well thought out (nice dvd selection, well organized) and visually appealing. The interior design reflects the ambiance and colors of the enveloping forest and mists. Very spa like. Very isolated. We saw the bear! We had stilled the wind chimes, acitve wind chimes must keep it away. Nice family vaca, took turns cooking, used the go blue ridge card to save on rafting, attractions - just lovely!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: It fills my heart with pride to know you loved the "Quietude". No wonder it is spa-like - I am a spa owner. It is so important that the needs of every guest are met and I work hard to make sure you have what you need when you need it. So, I'll keep doing what I do. I guess there is no such thing as too much detail. Thank you so much for your kind words and the time you took to tell the world! All my best, Brea

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: In 2000 I had plans to move to Asheville from Houston. Events in my life changed those plans. My draw to Asheville did not change. I continued to think about living there, but knew that with my business in Houston, that I could not leave. It was suggested that I purchase a home and spend a lot of time in Asheville. That sounded good to me. So in 2006 I purchased my chalet. As I thought about it sitting empty for long periods of time, I decided it was better to share it. At that time, I did not know the term 'vacation rental'. I did some investigating and found out how to do it. I also found that I loved sharing my beautiful chalet with others.
Why the Owner Chose Asheville:
I love Asheville. It brings joy to my heart to be in the mountains. Asheville has everything and the best part is that nothing is extreme. The weather is not extreme, the mountains are not extreme. It is gentle, inviting and there is plenty of variety in things to do here. You can hike (my favorite), fish, golf, shop, eat, sight-see, go on adventures, see wildlife, swim, be a kid again at Sliding Rock, ride your motorcycle on the Blue Ridge and on and on.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
I love staying at Chalet Quietude. It is cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. Butterflies and humming birds love it there too. The location is beautiful and the mountain is covered with forest. Driving up to the chalet in summer, you wonder where the other home are. It is so close to town, yet just far enough away. I named it Chalet Quietude because it is so quiet here. The day I purchased it, I could hear nothing - not a mower, not a dog, not a siren, no traffic - NOTHING...just the QUIETUDE. The quietude surrounds you and you just might forget you have a home to return to! That's how I feel - 'It is the life' and when I am there, I don't want to go home.
