This spacious, executive-style house is located two blocks from the base of Mount Alyeska Ski Resort in the beautiful Girdwood Valley, a 35-minute drive along the ocean shores of Turnagain Arm south of the downtown Anchorage metropolitan area.

As one of the finest luxury rental homes in Girdwood, this all-redwood-sided house features a large, gourmet kitchen with Brazilian granite counters, a professional gas cook stove, an Indian slate floor, elegant stainless appliances, and a roomy kitchen island for seating and entertaining. Offering over 3,000 square feet of luxurious space, decorations include a variety of local art from Alaska's best known artists and multiple alaskan motif stain glass windows.

The main living area has hardwood floors, and features a large open circular fireplace with multiple couchs and chairs around it and a wall of windows with a gorgeous view of Mount Alyeska. There is also a game room area with a pool table, juke box, stereo, and a carpeted TV room with a DVD/VCR surround sound system, cable TV and several more comfy couches and chairs for relaxing at the end of a hard day. The main bathroom features a large, multi-person 80-gallon Jacuzzi tub set in travertine tile, perfect for melting your aches and pains away. Wireless internet is available for those travelers needing to stay in touch with the world.

There are four carpeted, roomy bedrooms upstairs and a bath to service three of the bedrooms in addition to the Master Bedroom bath (and a third full bathroom on the main level).
1. Master Suite: One king-sized bed, TV/DVD and a private bath with jetted jacuzzi tub.
2. Bedroom Two: Two queen beds and one twin bed, TV/VCR.
3. Bedroom Three: One queen bed, one twin bed and a full-sized baby crib.
4. Bedroom Four: Two double twin-sized bunk beds (total of four beds).

If you are looking for a comfortable house to base your South-central Alaska travels from in one of the finest communities in Alaska, Girdwood Valley is it. On the shores of Turnagain Arm, surrounding by seven glaciers, tall mountains, North America's northern-most rain forest and located 35 minutes from Anchorage along one of America's most scenic coastal highways, Girdwood is to Alaska what Aspen is to Colorado.

VRBO Bear stayed here - 07/19/2003 Everything is BIG in Alaska - especially the mountains!!! How about the view of Mount Alyeska from inside this home? To the right is a picture of me sitting on the living room window sill. "Bearific" view I would say! Summertime is a great time to visit Alaska. It stays light until after midnight here, which gave me lots of time to explore, but sometimes I would just sit and watch the mountain from inside this vacation home... And every so often, some daredevils would parasail off the mountain above and I'd watch them as they gently drifted down to the valley floor... Way-cool!

You can tell that the owners have spent a lot of time making the inside of this home a special haven. The kitchen was great with granite counter tops and all the conveniences of home, plus the huge jetted bath tub on the main floor was just the thing to sooth tired bear muscles. My new buddies, Mike and Don really liked relaxing with a game of pool after a full day of exploring... and their wives, Carolyn and Jan enjoyed reading in the comfy cozy couches and chairs around the fireplace and also in the TV room. I had some great naps here and even VRBO Webmasters Dave and Lynn found it hard to keep their eyes open in this great comfortable home... Beary-beary nice!

P.S. In case you didn't know, salmon is one of my favorite foods... and there's no better place to find fresh salmon then here in Alaska. But, if you're looking for a great change of pace, try the "Double Musky Inn" (about a mile from this home)... believe it or not, it has great Cajun food, and large portions... Check it out!

  • We had a great time in a beautiful house, well equipped, near the skipiste. The weather was perfect: sunny, not to cold. We did great excursions like whale whatching, snowmobile.   • Cabin was spacious and well-supplied. Pool table and entertainment system kept us occupied during inclement weather. Close to lifts, though just beyond comfortable walking distance. Great place for our group. I'd definitely recommend to anyone needing a base to explore the Chugach area.

Girdwood is a gorgeous place and all the windows and open floor plan of your home allowed us to appreciate it that much more. The pool table was a blast and the home is so spacious we never felt like we were tripping over eachother (even with 3 kids under the age of 10). It was the perfect spot for our family of 8. We had the best location for attending my brother's wedding and reception in Girdwood. I would recommend your home to anyone traveling in the area - thank you!

  • We had a wonderful time at the Faulkner home in Girdwood. It was perfect for our family group of eight. We were able to have our own separate spaces but still spend a lot of time together. The pool table was a particular draw for us. The home has a very open feel and the views of the mountains were perfect. We would recommend it to anyone traveling to Alaska. So many activities and sights were so close.

  • We can't thank you enough for the opportunity to stay in your beautiful home. It was the perfect place to rejuvinate after long days of hiking and sightseeing. We especially enjoyed the large kitchen where all 8 of us could relax together over a good meal to discuss the days events and plan our excursion for the next day.

  • Our friends and I needed a house with a lot a space, but this definitely exceeded our expectations! The kitchen was beautiful and was so delightful to cook in and created a consant hang out spot for everyone. The centered fireplace in the living room was a nice added touch. We played a bunch of games of pool and overall couldn't have asked for a better location--right in between the resort and the town, both within walking distance. I would recommend this awesome home to anyone!

  • We loved our stay at Win & Audrey Faulkner's home in Girdwood. The jacuzzi tubs, pool table and fireplace were always fun to come "home" to. It's spacious, has a lot of light and a fabulous kitchen! The 3 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms ensure no one runs into each other. I loved the hardwood floors and the granite countertops in the kitchen! Needless to say, our stay was enjoyable and the hosts were always available to answer any questions we had. We would stay there again, if the chance arises.
