  We had a great time at Rhumbrunners. The views are incredible. The home is very comfortable and well maintained. Mike and Chris were very hospitable. We stayed with two kids 9,6 and the house was great for them. St John is a beautiful island. We had a great vacation and would rate it above previous vacations to Mexico or Hawaii.

  We just returned a week ago from our trip to St. John and our stay at Rhumb Runners. The pictures do not do the house justice, it is very nicely decorated with a tropical fare and the view is absolutely breath taking. The house was clean and the owners added a nice touch with fresh cut flowers. Mike and Chris were excellent in answering our questions and giving us numerous pointers from eating places, grocery shopping, and beaches to visit. This was our first time staying on St. John and I am positive it will not be our last time at St. John or Rhumb Runners.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

  What a wonderful week we had in the comfortable, well-appointed Rhumb Runners. The panoramic spectacular views are, hands-down, the best on the island (though the ones at Annaberg/Leinster Bay are a close second). We snorkeled and "beached" all over the island -- Haulover, Maho, Salt Pond, Leinster, Waterlemon, Blue Cobblestone (right near Salt Pond) and hiked the Ram's Head, Johhny Horn, and Reef Bay Trails. We loved all of the above. Miss Lucy's does brunch right, The Tourist Trap has great pulled pork, and the Lime Inn in Cruz Bay is fresh, great seafood. Oh, and Candy's Food Stand in Cruz Bay down the hill from Starfish Market does BBQ like nobody's business! We also enjoyed Aqua Bistro and Donkey Diner, though we can't rave about Skinny's Food (though we liked the music and ambiance, and our kids disagree with us on the food). Back to the wonderful home, we really can't say enough great things. Well-equipped kitchen, oft-used (by us) grill, covered deck, cross-breezes that allowed us to never turn the A/C on, everything clean and in great shape. This was probably our best family vacation (and that list includes Hawaii, Costa Rica, and France -- so you can tell how much we fell in love with St. John and this home). Chris and Mike are extremely hospitable and provide very helpful advice. Enjoy!

  We continue to return to Coral Bay and the spectacular views from Rhumb Runners as we visit our dear friends Mike and Chris. We have been coming to Rhumb Runner since 2002 and can't wait to go back again. Mike and Chris continue to keep the house in shape-- new granite counter tops in the kitchen are amazing. The house is well equipped and perfect for our family of four. Rhumb Runners is at the end of a local and rental property road so very safe and the views from the deck and pool are priceless! The house is also conveniently located near great restaurants like Shipwreck, Miss Lucy's, Tourist Trap, Aqua Bistro and Skinny Legs- all great family friendly places. At the bottom of the road you can go left or right for a short drive to a beautiful pristine beach. We had such a wonderful time and just love going to the beach on Thanksgiving. Some of our favorite beaches are Francis, Salt Pond, Maho and Lameshur-- all have great snorkeling and beautiful sand. This is a house you must stay in, we have not found a better spot. Thank you Mike and Chris for your wonderful hospitality and enduring friendship!

  We just got home from Rhumb Runners and already are planning when to return. The house was in great condition and was very clean and comfortable, with everything we could need - even hair dryers, coffee maker & grinder, etc. The trade winds were awesome - we never turned on the A/C, in mid-July! Mornings and evenings on the porch, enjoying the views and the breeze, were very relaxing, and our 10-year-old really enjoyed hopping into the pool towards the end of the day. Kevin and Maya were helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and otherwise unobtrusive. This is a great central location for beach/snorkel excursions, because it's about the same distance to the North Shore, East End, and Salt Pond / Lameshur areas. (Don't discount the East End - Haulover South, which has a mostly cobblestone beach that doesn't look like much, had better snorkeling than some of the better-known beaches we hit.) Aqua Bistro, Crabby's and Lily's market are all literally at the bottom of the driveway hill, and Skinny Legs, Donkey Diner, Shipwreck Landing and Miss Lucy's are all no more than 5 minutes away.

  Wow! This was a great place to spend a week. The views from the house were spectacular. The house itself was extremely clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for access to the most beautiful beaches in the world. The owners (Mike and Chris) and the caretakers (Maya and Kevin) were easy and fun to work with and very responsive. Most of our time when at the house was spent on the beautiful deck. My wife and I rose early every morning (while our 18 year old daughter slept in) to have coffee and watch the sun rise over Coral Bay, the East End and the surrounding Islands. We enjoyed watching the Bananaquits and Bullfinch enjoy bowls of sugar water. By about 9:00 every day, the three of us were ready to hit the beach and snorkel, read and play in the water. Our favorite beaches were Salt Pond, Little Lameshure, Maho and Francis (all with 10 to 20 minute drive). The snorkeling was utterly amazing. The unit had a very nice kitchen but most nights we went out for diner. Our favorite restaurants were: Miss Lucy's (seafood, jazz brunch, awesome conch fritters and grouper reuben), Shipwreck Landing (seafood, desserts), Skinny Leg's (great burger), and Aqua Bistro (huge portions, wahoo, mahi and a killer buffalo grouper sandwich). We were not disappointed by any of these meals. Donkey Diner (breakfast, pizza on certain nights - fun and very casual) was also very enjoyable. We drove (20 minutes) to Cruz bay a couple of times for shopping and had a good dinner at the Lime Inn one night. We had planned to go Charlotte Amalie one day, but were enjoying the time on St John so much we cancelled that from our plans. Every night we were exhausted. The upstairs bedrooms had the most marvelous sea breeze flowing through them and made for a great night's sleep. All in all, one of our best vacations and one of the nicest places to stay --ever!

  The views from this property are spectacular. This house and view is everything stated in the description and more. The pool was great for a refreshing dip at the end of day. The owners are very friendly and responsive--and local, which I find important. I recommend this property without any reservations.

  Rhumb Runner is a lovely home which is very well situated in Coral Bay. The house is very clean and comfortable. The views from the porch are exquisite showing the nearby bay with various sailing crafts and the various islands and mountains in the distance. The owners are from time to time on site in the nearby caretaker cottage and can answer questions about the island.

  This was my thrid vist to Rhumb Runners. Love the new remodeled kitchen with the beautiful new granite counter tops. This is truly the perfect spot in St John. Mike & Chris are great hosts and great friends. We had an absolutely wonderful 9 days. Al & Janet, Ada MI

  Chris & Mike, Gosh, not sure where to start. First and foremost, THANK YOU! We've had an amazing first trip to St. John thanks to both of you. What a fabulous way to spend our 25th wedding anniversary and my 50th birthday. Your home in Coral Bay is warm and inviting and of course to view is .....WOW! All of your recommendations were spot on. The guys at L&L Jeep rental were great, Bob Schlesinger at Tropical Focus made our photo shoot such fun and the Calypso Charter's Bad Kitty excursion to the Virgin Gorda's was a blast. We did the Ram's Head and Brown Bay hikes and enjoyed the sun and snorkeling at the various beaches. We enjoyed all of the local dining fare from Skinny Legs, Aqua Bistro, and the Tourist Trap. In Cruz Bay we found Woody's Seafood Grill happy hour to be quite lively and the view of the sunset from the High Tide bar and grill was beautiful. The Ocean Grill and Morgan's Mango at Mongoose Junction both had amazing food, but we did find Morgan's Mango to have a friendlier staff. We will be thinking of you when the snow flies in Wisconsin and will be pulling from all our memories here to get us through the 6 months of winter there. Don't be surprised when you hear from us with a request to rent from you again. Thank you again for everything!
