Rhumb Runner is a lovely home which is very well situated in Coral Bay. The house is very clean and comfortable. The views from the porch are exquisite showing the nearby bay with various sailing crafts and the various islands and mountains in the distance. The owners are from time to time on site in the nearby caretaker cottage and can answer questions about the island.

Chris & Mike, Gosh, not sure where to start. First and foremost, THANK YOU! We've had an amazing first trip to St. John thanks to both of you. What a fabulous way to spend our 25th wedding anniversary and my 50th birthday. Your home in Coral Bay is warm and inviting and of course to view is .....WOW! All of your recommendations were spot on. The guys at L&L Jeep rental were great, Bob Schlesinger at Tropical Focus made our photo shoot such fun and the Calypso Charter's Bad Kitty excursion to the Virgin Gorda's was a blast. We did the Ram's Head and Brown Bay hikes and enjoyed the sun and snorkeling at the various beaches. We enjoyed all of the local dining fare from Skinny Legs, Aqua Bistro, and the Tourist Trap. In Cruz Bay we found Woody's Seafood Grill happy hour to be quite lively and the view of the sunset from the High Tide bar and grill was beautiful. The Ocean Grill and Morgan's Mango at Mongoose Junction both had amazing food, but we did find Morgan's Mango to have a friendlier staff. We will be thinking of you when the snow flies in Wisconsin and will be pulling from all our memories here to get us through the 6 months of winter there. Don't be surprised when you hear from us with a request to rent from you again. Thank you again for everything!

We have been home for less than a week and we are truly missing the beautiful view and breezes of Ruhmb Runners. What an adventure... My children/young adults and I had the most delightful time at this home and on this island. Mike & Chris Jordan could not have been more helpful and available for all questions. The weather was humid but had a wonderful breeze in the house. Once I mastered the driveway, I looked forward to our daily returns to this nest from our beach outings. We would return in a heartbeat. Our stay at Rhumb Runners was fabulous, the best vacation ever! The pictures don't do the place justice, its beautiful, and well kept. The views are phenomenal from all angles of the house. We loved the porch and watching the bannanaquits every morning. Mike and Chris were so helpful, and everything they recommended was excellant. Out favorite restaurants were Donkey Diner for breakfast, and Miss Lucy's (best Sunday brunch ever). We loved Aqua Bistro for dinner, and our favorite for lunch was the Tourist Trap. Favorite beaches are Trunk Bay, Francis Bay and Lameshur Bay. Already planning to go back. Thank you for everything.

We really enjoyed our time in the U.S.V.I. St. John afforded us many wonderful experiences that we will not soon forget. Time seemed to slow down for us as we took advantage of the walking trails, the fine restaurants, and the beaches. Our stay at Rhumb Runners was fantastic, and proved to be a great starting point for each day's exploration. The view from the porch offers a beautiful view of the bay, and the sunrises were spectacular. The evening vista provides a romantic and relaxing interlude, with the evening sky awash in stars. We can't say enough good things about Rhumb Runners, and do plan to return. We highly recomend Rhumb Runners for a wonderful stay!! Trust us, you will not regret it!!!

Outstanding Week on St. John's

We are two couples who have visited St. John's on several occasions on our sailboat but never before stayed on land. We wanted to visit the Coral Bay area and get to know some of the beaches and restaurants not experienced on prior visits. Rhumb Runners was the perfect base for our visit. The house was clean and well appointed and we enjoyed early morning hours in the porch rockers watching the bananaquits feed on sugar as we sipped on coffee and hot tea. The pool was private and a delight--not too cool to enjoy in mid-winter. Chris and Mike offered good suggestions for the best restaurants, beaches and other sites and were helpful from the start. Knowing they just a phone call away on St. Thomas was nice even though everything at the house was perfect. The recently renovated kitchen made kitchen duty fun though with restaurants nearby, cooking was minimized. Staying at Rhumb Runners was a great way to celebrate our Aquarian birthdays together. The house exceeded our expectations. We will recommend it to friends with enthusiasm!

My wife and I have vacationed in Villa's on St. John since 2003 and have never stayed at a Villa with such a breath taking view. It seemed every time we would turn around the views were changing. It was memorizing each time! The pictures shown of the villa really don't do it justice. The breeze was refreshing all day long to keep us cool. At night it was very quite and peaceful. The only time this was not true was from 7 to 10pm on a few of the nights you could here music from some of the local businesses below. Which my wife and I really enjoyed listening to. We were a short beautiful drive to all of the beaches and far enough from the main town to feel alone in our own paradise. This Villa offers everything you need to have an unforgettable vacation and this would be our first choice every time. Thank you Mike and Chris!

A magical Christmas vacation

After a long day of travel, walking in to Rhumb Runner, felt like our sanctuary. Christmas music was softly playing, the dining table was set, fresh flowers and plants, throughout. Mike and Chris made it feel like "our" holiday home. Each morning, we enjoyed feeding the bananaquit, as we sipped our coffee on the deck. The villa is at the top of the hill at the end of the road...extremely quiet, very safe, with an awesome view. The perfect venue for celebrating our first Christmas away from New England! Staying in Coral Bay, we experienced a friendly, warm welcome at all the restaurants and shops. We were so happy staying at Rhumb Runner and we hope to return again next year!

If you are looking for a quiet, private two bedroom villa overlooking a beautiful bay on St. John, look no further. My wife and I decided to stay at Rhumb Runners based upon the renter reviews. They are all five star ratings. I really cannot say anything that has not already been said. Mike and Chris are wonderful to work with. Mike made sure we were prepared before we got to the island and Chris met us to show us around the villa when we arrived and answered all of our questions and answered questions we didn’t know to ask. Her tip to visit Rams Head Trail among her suggested trails to hike is not to be missed. The villa was spotless. The views are spectacular from every room, but the view from the wraparound porch is particularly so. The beds are comfortable as is the rest of the furniture and the new kitchen is really great. We did not cook much other than toast for breakfast, but we did have Ted from Ted’s Supper Club prepare dinner one evening. He had no problem preparing the best meal we had on the island in the new kitchen. Mike it is time to update the kitchen picture. Thanks, Mike and Chris. We hope to be back soon.

We were looking for a peaceful and private villa in St. John with spectacular views of the ocean, mountains and surrounding islands and Rhumb Runners exceeded our expectations! The owners ,Mike and Chris, were great to work with and their comfortable home was equipped perfectly for our family with two young children. We had a wonderful week in this villa and the kids couldn't wait to hit the pool after a day visiting the numerous beautiful beaches. Very private with a big porch and jaw dropping views in every direction, you will not be sorry staying here, I promise!

When researching places to stay on St. John (just as you probably are now...) there were many incredible places to choose from. It became a process of attempting to select the best "best" one for out family. For us, the "best" was Rhumb Runners and the experience was delightful from beginning to end. Mike and Chris made the process enjoyable from the moment we met on the phone until getting to meet in person. Three things initially sold us on Rhumb Runners. First, the location, pictures and price; second, Mike's incredible phone personality; and third, the fact that Chris and Mike live and work on the islands. We were not disappointed! The house is incredible, and the wealth of knowledge from Mike is an added bonus. All of their recommendations were spot on for a fabulous family vacation. We traveled as three adults and two children and left with wonderful memories of new places discovered, friendships made, and a burning desire to return. Rhumb Runners was the perfect home base for us to explore the islands and had everything we needed! The only down side was leaving....

Wonderful place to stay in Coral Bay

Rhumb Runner Villa was a perfect location for our family of four visiting St. John for the first time. Though we weren't sure which area we wanted to visit, we decided on Rhumb Runner after the excellent reviews online. We were not disappointed. The hill was daunting the first few times, but fun by the end of the week! The villa looked exactly like the photos, was clean and inviting and had everything that we needed for the week. Mike and Chris were so welcoming and gave great advice on everything from great beaches (Jumbie was a favorite!) to a day charter sail.You will not find nicer owners who really go the extra mile for their guests. The views from the deck were unbelievable and it was a delight to wake up every morning and watch the bananaquits and the view of the BVI! Property was well-maintained, and we did enjoy the washer and kids loved the pool and deck area. Rhumb Runner is an excellent location to explore Coral Bay, very convenient to Lilly's Market at the bottom of the hill, as well as Crabby's to rent snorkel gear. We found everything we needed and only ventured to Cruz Bay to catch a tour. We have stayed at many villas, and found the warmth and hospitality from Mike and Chris well worth the trip to Rhumb Runner ! We recommend Coral Bay as a beautiful quiet location on St. John, very close to the amazing beaches of Frances Bay, Jumbie, and Water Lemon.. plus our favorite breakfast place, the Donkey Diner. Even when the rains came, as they did for several days, we enjoyed the satellite TV and large table for playing cards and games. We found the people at the bottom of the hill to be so helpful, at the post office, crabby's and lilly's , even skinny legs, and we found that that by mentioning Mike's name people went out of their way to help us! We highly recommend a stay at Rhumb Runner if you have a family that is looking for a get away - teens love the pool and the a/c in the bedrooms was a plus. We can't wait to go back again. Comfortable house, great location, wonderful owners who go the extra mile for their guests. Well worth the trip!

Loved your home! I travelled to Rhumb Runner with my wife and two children, ages 13 and 9. We had spent the three previous days on Jost Van Dyke. Quite an experience driving up to the house on the first trip up but you get used to it and it became an non-issue. We can't thank Chris enough for her help with one of our children who had a minor medical problem. She suggested medical care (she is a nurse), made us an appointment at the clinic and was actually in the room for his treatment. We truly appreciated her kindness and it set the mood early for our love of her home. Rhumb Runner sits high on a hill overlooking the bay with fantastic panoramic views. Unlike the home we stayed in on Jost, this home had the feel of a residence. It is very tastefully decorated and has everything you will need for your stay: beach chairs, beach towels, cooler, washer and clothes line, every conceivable kitchen utensil, pool, air conditioned bedrooms, etc... We loved sitting on the deck in the mornings and evenings looking at the boats in the harbor. The breeze is strong and cool and blows all day and night. The entire home is screened so bugs inside are a non-issue. The beds are comfortable, the showers nicely tiled with sufficient warm or cold water and the living room feels like home. I highly recommend this home to anyone who wants to stay on St John's less busy side, Coral Bay. The home is also convenienty located to a grocery store (Lily's) at the foot of the hill (a two minute drive or five minute walk). This store has everything you will likely need for your stay. It is also close to most, if not all, of the restaurants in Coral Bay. We ate at Skinny Legs, the Donkey Diner, Shipwreck Landing, Island Blues and the place right next to Lilly's (which had the best food). It is only about a 15 minute drive to the north shore beaches (go to Jumbie bay beach because it only has four or so parking spaces and is thus literally deserted). We snorkeled at Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Jumbie Bay, Salt Pond Bay, Haulover Bay and Waterlemon Cay. Waterlemon and Haulover had the best snorkeling by far (both recommended by Chris). This listing and the photos accurately depict where you will be staying. The home was clean and very well maintained. You can rent your snorkel gear at the end of your driveway at Crabby's. Sorry but out of space. Rent this house and you won't be sorry.

10 year anniversary trip to paradise!

A lot of our friends told us how special a place St. John USVI is. We had no idea how special it is. To enjoy the majesty of this island you have to stay in Coral Bay and you have to stay at Rhumb Runners. Wake up to coffee on the terrace with breathtaking views of Coral Bay, the East End of St. John and the British Virgin Islands. Eat breakfast at the Donkey Diner or Sunday Brunch at Lucy's. Go enjoy the best beaches on the island that are all convenient to Rhumb Runners; Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Leinster Bay, Salt Pond Bay and Little Lameshur Bay. Come back the villa for a quick dip the pool. Clean up for dinner and one of the great restaurants in the Coral Bay area. Don't forget to catch one of the sailboats or power cats out of Coral Bay for an outstanding adventure to the BVI. If you are looking rest, relaxation in the best location in the world look no further than Rhumb Runners. Chris and Mike will give you all of the tips to make your vacation special. The Perfect House

This was our 6th trip to St. John, but the first time we have vacationed at Rhumb Runner. Words truly cannot express how much we enjoyed this lovely home. This home had everything you could possibly need not to mention immaculate and well maintained. The views took our breath away and it was really difficult to leave the beautiful pool and porch to see the rest of the beautiful island of St. John. Chris and Mike were so helpful and friendly they made us feel like we had known them for years and this is not something we have experienced in the 5 previous homes we have rented. The home is in a private setting with beautiful foliage, fauna, and is excellent for birdwatching. It is also in a great location and only minutes to restaurants, shopping, and the beautiful beaches. We cannot wait to go back next year and have recommended Rhumb Runner to anyone that will listen. We tell them all it was our best vacation yet on St. John and that is mainly due to us renting the perfect house.

PARADISE!

My husband, kids and I have stayed at Rhumb Runners two times, and can not say enough about this home or the owners. The house is on the hill overlooking the harbor. Sit on the porch and watch the Bananakeets flock to the sugar you have placed in a bowl; swim in the pool and watch the sail boats cruise into the harbor, walk down the hill to one of several great restaurants; rent snorkle gear from Crabbys in Coral Bay and see the sights underneath the water (we saw a nurse shark, sting rays, sea turtle, squid, and hundreds of beautiful colorful fish in the coral). The house is in a fantastic location - central to Coral Bay which is a quaint Carribean town, or drive to the national park trails or one of numerous easily accessible beaches - you can still find beaches that are virtually deserted.... Our week flew by - but we'll be back!!

Our stay at Rhumb Runner in March 2010 exceeded ANY expectation that we had for our vacation. The villa is fully equipped for enjoyment and comfort. We were within a mile of delis, amazing restaurants, fun bars and a market(Love City Mini Mart) with anything and everything needed for vacation. Being able to watch the sunrise over Coral Harbor each day from the porch is an added bonus. The owners are helpful and knowledgable of the area and local establishments. Rhumb Runners exceeded our expectations in every way. The house is well-appointed and comfortable, very clean, and has spectacular views. Mike and Chris Jordan were great hosts (they live on St. Thomas, but they personally prepare the home for their guests and orient you to Coral Bay and the island). And we loved the Coral Bay side of the island. It's peaceful and low-key, and has a real sense of community. We're already talking about when we can come back to St. John and Rhumb Runners.

Stayed at Rhumb Runner for a week in Feb 2010. The description and views on VRBO aren't imagined, they are real! This is ideal if you don't mind parking it and reading all week, you don't even have to go anywhere with a view like this. This time of year the pool had sun til 3pm. Mike helps you negotiate the hill to his villa the first time and that is very helpful. We enjoyed putting sugar out for the bananaquit birds and watching them and the view for hours. Very safe area too.

We visited Rhumb Runners for our honeymoon from Jan 8-16 and had an incredible time. The house was perfect for us, and so relaxing. Rhumb Runner was absolutely perfect in every way. The views are unparalleled from every part of the home, which is comfortably decorated with all the amenities we needed. This was our 4th visit to St. John and our first stay in Coral Bay. It was everything we hoped for and the villa was like a dream come true for us. Our first trip to St John was made perfect by staying at Rhumb Runners in July 2009. The views of Coral Bay and beyond are magnificent. What a wonderful vacation!Rhumb Runners was a fantastic find...everything we needed for an awesome 10 days in St. John. The view was stunning looking out over Coral Bay. The constant breeze kept us comfortable and cool,without the need for AC, though it was available. The surroundings were quiet and serene. Our children loved to take refreshing dips in the pool.The house was furnished comfortably and tastefully with a well equipped kitchen. Got to love a house that provides you with beach chairs and a cooler!Chris and Mike were most helpful in answering all our questions, yet were very mindful of our privacy. We stayed at Rhumb Runners during spring break and it was fantastic! Mike and Chris are a delight and very helpful. They made us immediately comfortable in their home after a long day of traveling. The house has unbeatable views with a breeze that makes sitting on the porch just heaven. It was a perfect home for us. The island is more beautiful than any pictures can show. We will definitely go back!

Spent three wonderful weeks at Villa Rhumbrunner in January and February 2009. Mike and Chris were wonderful hosts, the location was ideal, and the villa beautiful with incredible views. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone in need of a convenient, quiet Coral Bay location.

Our family stayed at Rhumb Rhunners and had a fantastic experience. We cannot say enough about the hospitality of our hosts. The house was just as advertised...clean, conventient and with incredible views. We were centrally located on the east end with easy access to the main road. Make sure you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to navigate all areas of the island. I would recommend the house and location to anyone.

Rhumb Runners was a fabulous place to stay for our week in Coral Bay. The views were great and we especially enjoyed the view from the pool. We were there in July and never needed the A/C with the constant breeze. The house was comfortable and clean. Everything we needed was there. As usual, the snorkeling was the best!

Spent the week of 4/26/08 and had a great time. My 8 year old was proud of the lizards she caught and the great snorkeling at the many beaches St. John has to offer. The house has beautiful views, very clean and cozy. With the breeze we never even thought to try out the A/C. The pool was great for kids and parents as well. Mike the owner was terrific for recomendations and knowledge of the island. We'd love to return.

My wife, a friend, and I enjoyed a wonderful week on St. John in April. No trip there could be bad, but staying at Rhumb Runners made it especially comfortable and fun. Mike and Chris were full of good ideas for food and activities. The restaurants nearby were top notch, offering a variety of cuisines. The banana quits (a local yellow bird) visited regularly, stopping at the deck whether we had a handout or not. Looking at the pictures afterwards I found I had taken about 40 of the view from the house. Every morning, afternoon, and evening offered a different, equally stunning shot. A great place to holiday.

Coral Bay and Rhumb Runners is the perfect spot for a great Caribbean vacation. The house is easy to get to but is high enough for great views and peace and quiet. In addition, everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided, including a large gas grill so you can enjoy the views and the pool. Coral Bay is the best area to stay in, easy access to everything including grocery stores,shops, restaurants and the less crowded beaches. Chris and Mike are wonderful hosts, they gave us information on where to hike and the best snorkeling spots. We can't wait to go back again, we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We have been going to St. John for 12 years and once we found Coral Bay and Rhumb Runners we haven’t stayed anywhere else. This November will be our 6th year there. It is a beautiful house and pool with a view that you will never forget. The two bedrooms each with their own bathroom are ideal for our family of 4. The kitchen has all the things you need to prepare a great meal. The location of the house is perfect for us. We feel very safe at the end of a friendly neighborhood road. The road is in good shape and very accessible. Having Mike and Chris near by is priceless. They are warm, caring people who will respect your privacy and are helpful with any island questions. Some of the best beaches on the island are only a short ride away. Coral Bay has all of the amenities one could want on an island vacation. Rhumb Runners is a true island paradise.
