This home was perfect for our stay! Our family of 6 was so very comfortable in this picturesque home. The beds were all so very nicely layered with the most comfortable linens. The home's decor had a peaceful and zen-like quality. The location was ideal for so many of the area's highlights. We were greeted upon our arrival by a beautiful sea gull perched on one of the porch railings. The wine and cheese that was available upon our arrival was greatly appreciated. There are not enough words to describe how this home can make your stay in Pacific Grove so very enjoyable. We are so very thankful and appreciative that this home was available for our use. The owner not only provides a wonderful place to stay but is also attentive to making sure that tourist info to enhance your stay is readily available

We were so pleased with our stay at this beautiful home. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed-- from the table setting to the wine and cheese-- over the top! The kitchen is the best stocked kitchen for a rental we've ever seen. We took advantage of it and cooked a fresh seafood cioppino from the local fare. The beds were comfortable, fireplace and living room inviting and an all around wonderful place. We will definitely be return guests. I can't say enough good things about the place. Thank you!

We enjoyed this fabulous place..it made our trip so much better than we could ever imagined. Five of us were here to run the Big Sur Marathon and it was so nice to come back to this home after the race and relax. We enjoyed walking along the ocean and the beautiful view from the home is amazing. Thank you so much.

Thank you for an amazing stay! The view was breathtaking. My children could not wait for 'Charlie' to come by so they could feed him. It was great to be in walking distance of the Aquarium and other shops. We cant wait for the opportunity to come back.

This place was so nice. The view of the ocean was breathtaking and you can see it from the "wall" of windows in the living room/dining/kitchen area. The house was very clean and felt cozy. We liked that two of the bedrooms were downstairs with the master upstairs since it helped to provide more space and privacy with two families. They provided nice welcoming touches with the wine and cheese and the two aquarium passes. It's in the perfect location - just a few minutes walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and shops. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We were here for the AT&T Pro-Am. This home slept our four adults so comfortably. The location is perfect! We loved the fireplace on the cool days. So very cozy with a wonderful view. Annee Martin & her crew do a fabulous job of managing their home and making sure everything is fully stocked with everything you can possibly need. We will definitely be back!

We had an amazing stay at this location in Monterey. It was a 2 min walk to the aquarium and cannery row, and also right next to a beautiful walking/biking path along the ocean. The house was clean, cozy and perfect for our stay. The kitchen/dining/living area was so comfortable that we ended up staying in for dinner most nights. I would highly recommend this place to friends & family, and we are looking forward to coming back hopefully soon!

I rented this very comfortable home to host our family of 6 adults to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a very memorable time, due, in part, to the fact that we were so comfortable in the house. It is in a fabulous location, close to the ocean and downtown PG and the aquarium; we did not have to drive the entire weekend! The home is well appointed with all you need to have an amazing weekend with family and friends. Do not hesitate to consider this lovely spot.

We stayed here for six days in November 2011, a family of four with two children aged 10 and 8. It is in a fantastic position, about 30 metres to the main walk/bike trail along Monterey's and Pacific Grove's waterfront, an easy walk to the Monterey Aquarium, cafes and shops. It is a couple of blocks to the supermarket, so you really don't need a car to stay here (although not that easy to get to by public transport). The local area is lovely, with the bike/walking trail going a long way through Monterey. I saw sea otters most mornings I went jogging, there are harbour seals about 100metres away, and sea lions at Fisherman's wharf. You can hire bikes at several places along the trail, and ride a long way along the coast, which is a very enjoyable way to see the area. The house itself is lovely, with a view out over the water, a comfortable and carefully decorated living/dining/kitchen space and three good sized bedrooms, with two great bathrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped, with everything you could possibly want to cook a gourmet meal. It was possibly a little too carefully decorated for our family. With two boys aged 10 and 8 we always felt we were walking on eggshells, not helped by the little signs in many places reminding us of the house rules. The house looked absolutely lovely when we walked in, but it wasn't as homey as some other less lovely places we have stayed in where we could let our boys wrestle on the couch.

My wife and I rented David and Annee's home for 8 days in early October. We brought our 18 month old son, and decided to invite my parents since we had the extra room. We'd seen the pictures beforehand, but they didn't do justice to the real thing. The location is phenomenal, right on the ocean. The inside of the house is also beautifully decorated and the little touches that the owner made you feel like you were at home. The house was equipped with everything you could need, and the garage was also perfect as we rented bikes for the week. Some reviews had recommended that this may not be good for small children, but the house was equipped with baby gates and even a pack and play was provided. We spent a lot of time in Monterey and in Carmel, but ultimately I was thrilled that we decided to rent in Pacific Grove. It is such a perfect and peaceful town, and doesn't have the touristy feel that the others do. Besides you can easily walk or ride a bike to anywhere you want to go in Monterey, and Carmel is only a ten minute drive. There is so much to do in Pacific Grove, we hardly spent anytime in the house, except for making dinner two nights. Throughout the week we also visited Big Sur, and Santa Cruz which are very easy drives, and played Pacific Grove's Municpal Course and then Pebble Beach, which really isn't THAT much more impressive than the incredible municipal course. From the dining room we routinely saw plenty of seals and otters playing in the ocean and multiple times deer would wonder up the street right under the house. We had amazing weather for the peninsula regularly getting into the mid 80's and plenty of sunshine. The free passes for the Monterey Aquarium also proved priceless for my 18 month old who enjoyed it as much as we did. The bike/running trail 150 feet from the house stretches for miles in both directions. There are incredible beaches and sights to see along the path. Highly recommend this house. You will not be sorry. You can tell that the owners are very nice people and truly want you to enjoy this house as much as they do. They've made every effort to make you feel right at home. We've got another addition to the family on the way soon, but would LOVE to come back and stay here again down the road in a few years. THANK YOU David and Annee for sharing your home!

My family had a fantastic time in the Monetery area and this house was a large part of why it was so amazing. Being so close to the water and seeing the waves crashing over the rocks and all the marine life from the balcony and windows was an incredible treat. We saw numerous seals, sea otters, and hundreds of dolphins - all from the house! Nothing like making breakfast in a wonderfully equipped kitchen while watching a large pod of dolphins traverse across the bay. We walked to the aquarium just about every day and the guest passes were a nice bonus. The coastal trail was great to walk everyday and along with the natural scenery, we were pleased to see hundereds of seals sleeping/playing on the beach (about 100 yds from the house). Since we were a family, we did most of our eating in house (everything you need is included), but we did manage to escape out for food some. We enjoyed Thai Bistro II, Vivolo's Chowder House, and even the Cannery Row Brewing Company (walked to them all). We got morning pastries at Pavel's (very short drive) and everything we tried was to die for. We're hoping to return to visit the Monterey area again next year. Sanctuary by the Sea will be first on our list!

At night we were perfectly happy to just have a fire and enjoy the house. We will definitely be back. There were just the two of us so had too much room but wished we had invited friends!! Delightful! Such a fantastic home for three generations to gather and call home for a week. We didn’t need to drive for 3 days since Sanctuary is so centrally located. We were blessed with terrifc weather and a seagull the kids name “Obadiah” would visit daily on the deck rail. It is wonderful to be next to the beach and near the middle of town, yet it is so quiet and peaceful! Love all the special touches of comfort and beauty that make this a fabulous destination.

Who would have thought after 35 years of twice-a-year staying in local hotels that we would finally find our sanctuary? Everything was perfect. It is obvious that Annee's heart an soul are happiest in providing the most minutes comforts to the human spirit. After our healing has begun, we plan to return with the rest of our family.
