Not a Good Fit

House was large, and relatively new. Common areas are large and almost too large for 5 adults to comfortably converse. We could see the appeal for a church group/team or couple of families. It was however in great need of a good deep cleaning from top to bottom and wall to wall and around the lanai and yard. Several appliances ( main refrigerator and barbeque ) were malfunctioning or unusable and kitchen was hard to use at night because of inadequate lighting. Most smoke alarms had been removed. The few house photos posted on site were accurate although living room ceiling is cathedral.. The view of the water from the lanai is distant. Recommending this house to others would depend on size and make-up of group--was not the best fit for our family group. We traveled all over the island in our 7 days viewing the many sites.. Recommend What's Shakin (smoothie shop )on the Scenic Route between house and Hilo for great smoothies and the botanical garden on same route.
Owner response:We provided a second refrigerator in the kitchen since the main fridge was not getting cold enough and it was there upon arrival. Kitchen under cabinet lighting was out, but ample lighting from ceiling to do any night cooking was more than adequate. Prior renters took out fire alarms as they were smokers and that was taken care of in next renters. As for cleanliness, their stay was in winter and with our rain, blinds were dirty. We do not do any deep cleaning in winter as with one rain storm it would do no good. If you are looking for a spotless place please stay elsewhere as this is not a 5 star hotel, but a family business and most people are thrilled. We always have a few people that care that the base boards are clean and we feel that is not our main focus. We take care of the important things. The barbecue worked fine. Please call to make sure the things that are important to you are addressed and enjoy. Our vrbo is very busy and I could read you 100 positive comments from our guest books.

Much Mahalo to Star we had a fabulous time. Love and Aloha the Waikoloa Strikers Soccer Team. Everyone loved swimming in the river and jumping from the bridge. The ping pong and air hockey tables were put to good use by both the kids and adults. We will be back for sure Kelly.
