This is a one level home so you do not have to worry about steps except down to the pool in rear yard. We have the CHEAPEST 4 bedroom furnished pool house near the beach in Oceanside!!! We have a large swimming pool, jacuzzi and bar-b-que area in the rear fenced yard. We are just a short distance to the beach and Oceanside marina is close by, along with the Amtrak if you prefer not to drive to downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp District, Oldtown, Sea World, Wild Animal Park and S. D. Zoo . Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm are only 60 minutes away in Orange Co. also.
Or just relax and sit by the pool and sunbathe with the continuous breezes that blow up from the ocean to this hilltop location. The 'Price is Right' -hope to see you soon. hi my name is neil and i am the property owner and also live part time in small attached unit when i am in town and not travelling or working out of town. I enjoy the opportunity to meet and interact with the families that come to stay with us in the seperate 4 bedroom 3 bath home next door. I have had visitors from Ireland, Germany and Russia stay plus loads of families from Oklahoma , Canada and all over the rest of America that are now friends.

The Unique Benefits of this House
Because we are only about 10-12 blocks to the beach that is the main draw for most persons. Some also come to stay because they have family on base at Camp Pendleton which is only about 2 miles away to the main gate. Also Sea World, Disneyland and Wild Animal Park are all within a short drive.

My husband and I stayed at Rock Cottage for five weeks this summer. The location is good, with excellent access to the beach, downtown, and the train station. We liked having four bedrooms as we had family joining us at various times during our stay. The house was clean and furnished with older pieces that made it reasonably comfortable. We enjoyed our interaction with the owner and found him to be very responsive to our needs and concerns. That being said, this house needs a lot of work before it could be considered a vacation rental in the traditional sense. The owner apparently bought it in very poor shape and has worked hard to upgrade the property. We could appreciate all the money and time he has spent so far. Much remains to be done. Two issues are important to note. Since there was no a/c we had to have the windows open for air circulation. Many of the windows had no screens and a couple didn’t open at all. This left us with the choice of being too hot or having wide open windows. Also, the water taps in two of the bathrooms have hot and cold reversed. For adults this is just inconvenient, for a child it could be hazardous. These issues aside, we enjoyed our time at Rock Cottage and might stay there again. If you are thinking of renting I would suggest you call Neil and have a long conversation. Ask lots of questions and be sure you understand what you are getting. This is not a luxury property. The linens are old, the beds are a little lumpy, the dinnerware is mismatched. If you understand what you’re buying for your money this can be a good choice for a large group on a small budget.
