"Colter" Cabin - Classic Western Log Cabin with Big Ranch View
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Driggs
This area of Idaho, Wyoming and Montana is just gorgeous. There are so many beautiful areas to visit - mountains, waterfalls, rivers, fields of wildflowers, throughout the summer, great snow all winter - you will want to be outdoors every day. Late spring is the best time to see the animals with their new offspring, and October brings the spectacular golden "quaking" leaves on the aspen trees.
You turn towards the mountains and go 3 miles to arrive at the cabin. Email for details.
Owner's Map of Driggs
We bought this cabin as a vacation get away for family and friends. Since then we have had the opportunity to live here full time for a year! Now we are working in California, but visit as often as we can. Our family uses the cabins often, so the kitchens are well equipped and the beds are comfy. Jim does real estate consulting and management for Jones Lang LaSalle, and Ginger teaches workshops on Mail Art. We love to hike and kayak and cook dinners for the family. We have two grown children who live in San Francisco and Oakland.

My wife and I just spent a week in the cabin during the first week of October 2010. The cabin is beautiful and very private. There was no TV which made our stay even more enjoyable. The cabin offered excellent access to Jackson, the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. I would recommend to anyone staying in the Jackson Hole area.

The cabin is exactly as it was described! Comfortably accomodates 4 adults. Very clean and tidy. Has all of the amenities of a private home! The decor is wonderfully western. The cabin is private and secluded but not too far from town. Great rural road out front for runners/joggers. Each morning we awoke to horses in the back pasture. What a treat! We hope to be back soon.

My wife and I spent 6 nights this April, 2010 in the Coulter cabin and throughly enjoyed our stay. Our friends joined us for 2 nights and celebrated my birthday on April 17th at Sweet Water cafe in Jackson. The cabin is about 7 miles north of Driggs on a country road with easy access to shopping in Driggs a wonderful, friendly little town. It is a bit of a drive to Jackson about 40 miles over Teton Pass, but a beautiful drive. I am a photographer so we easily drove over a 100 miles round trip to the cabin and Oxbow Bend where the photo ops are. We did encounter some water problems at the cabin, but after the water filter was changed everything was O. K., these things do happen as you are in the "wild wild west". Coulter cabin is supplied with most everything needed to prepare your meals if you want, an ample supply of firewood is on the front porch as well as fire starters to have a nice fire in the open hearth fireplace. The beds are very comfortable as well as the bathrooms, a small washer and dryer are provided to do any laundry you may have to wash. It was so quiet you can hear your heart beat, we saw a skunk wander down the road in the evening and a great horned owl land in a tree near the cabin. The robins and western blue birds were returning and were lovely to view. We will return to the Coulter again as it is such a lovely place to get away from the "real world".

This cabin was INCREDIBLE! It is in a rural area with a picture perfect view of the Grand Tetons from the front porch. The kitchen has great new appliances that make cooking meals convenient. We stayed there in the summer, so the drive to the eastern side and Jackson was very enjoyable. The cabin has all of the modern conveniences you would expect from an upscale resort, except for a TV, which actually was quite pleasant. This is definitely a place that will stay with you long after your stay. ;)
