Built in 2004 with all the amenities. You'll fall in love with the beauty and serenity of this peaceful, quiet 4-season retreat on a pristine 30 acre lake. From the beautiful screen porch overlooking the lake to the oversized Jacuzzi tub and sauna, this home has it all. Built-in Bose sound system with speakers indoors and out, 8 foot slate pool table, new furniture, wood burning stove, wired and wireless high speed Internet, hand-peeled log siding, professional landscaping, hickory floors, custom cabinets, and LOTS of character.
The main floor features a master bedroom with a king bed and an attached private bath with oversized Jacuzzi tub. Also on the main floor are a guest bedroom with queen bed and a half bath. The lower level features a guest bedroom with queen bed and a full bath plus a sauna. A large sleeping loft with ladder stairs is great for older kids. The loft has a full bed plus two loose-foam (beanbag-type) queen mattresses.
Fish for bass and sunfish from the dock or take the fishing boat, paddle boat or canoe (included) out on the quiet, scenic lake with no public access. Although the beach is moderately sandy, the lake bottom is somewhat soft sand with sparse weeds, so the best swimming is from the swim platform anchored in 20 ft of water. The water quality is excellent and very clear.
If you're interested in a sandy swimming beach, there's a wonderful family-friendly public beach at Shell Lake, 13 miles (20 minutes) away. For more info, Google "Shell Lake".
Just over two hours from Minneapolis/St. Paul, this is cabin country with lots of recreational opportunities including river canoeing, kayaking, tubing, hiking, biking, skiing (all kinds), fishing, etc. There are many lakes in the area, including a large recreational lake with a public landing 1/2 mile away.
Linens and towels are provided and a gas grill is available. Boat, motor, gas and canoe & paddle boat are included with rental.
A note for TV lovers...a portable DVD player is available, but the cabin is otherwise TV-free.

Why the Owner Chose Spooner
We choose Spooner because we have family in the area. As an avid fisherman, this area is outstanding for all types of fish...from trout to musky, they are all nearby. In the winter we have access to some incredible snowmobiling trails.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our property is unique in that it offers great swimming and fishing but has all the comforts you would expect in a luxury home. From the Bose stereo system that plays in every room of the home (even outside), to the sauna. I think the best feature is the fact that it is so peaceful and serene. I like that we don't have jet ski's and loud boats to listen to or worry about when using the lake, but we have lakes very nearby to go it if we want to partake in those activities. You can count on a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at what we call our Bass Lake Retreat.
Owner's Map of Spooner
We have dreamed of owning a cabin in the Spooner area for over 15 years. When we found this place we knew it was special and felt like we had to share it with the world. We hope to retire to this place in the future. Our kids love the outdoors and this cabin allows them to experience the the true beauty of Mother Nature and the wonderful seasons of Wisconsin. We live and work in the Twin Cities so this cabin is our get away from it all place.

We had an amazing and relaxing long weekend ringing in the new year at this beautiful home. Every detail of this getaway is top notch, the owners have clearly put their heart into making this a great place to vacation. The stereo is beyond excellent, the sauna amazing, bathrooms and bedrooms well appointed and the setting is tranquil. We had a great time and will most definitely make our way back!

My wife and I stayed at the cabin for three days. It was extremely clean, well appointed and very relaxing. It is absolutely as nice as it looks in the photos. The lack of television was actually a great thing as it allowed us to simply enjoy the cabin and the idyllic surroundings. Owner was very helpful and was very quick in returning emails before and after our stay. Owner also was very quick to return the security deposit. We are already contemplating a second, longer stay.

We truly enjoyed our stay here in Spooner! The owners were great at answering questions before and even when we called the first night. Even with the temps looking at near freezing at night we were quite impressed with the heating setup! We never were cold! Also, on the day we kayaked the St. Croix National Waterway we truly loved it but forgot to apply additional sunscreen and wouldn't you know it the cabin also had some aloe vera!! Yay becuase the local grocery store didn't have any we could find. The cabin was very clean as well as had plenty of cleanup tools for our departure. We enjoyed a canoe ride on bass lake and saw many birds. There were also plenty of bike trails and local geocache sites. We saw a family of 4 deer while eating at the kitchen table...I think they wanted our sweet corn! We also got to see the "snow" deer! What a treat. We recommend this place to anyone who wants to truly get away!! Thank you for making your cabin available! Hopefully we can find time to stay here again!

We loved this house! They have thought of everything we'd need, plus extra's. We went with our 4 kids, and G'pa and G'ma, still didn't feel crowded. The property is as listed, very clean and well maintained, and the owner would answer any questions we had by e mail very quickly! Would recommend it, actually,we already have! :) We did alot of fishing, lots of bites, but alot of smaller fish. Rented a pontoon, on Big Mackenzie, from Tall Timbers Resort, had a great time, and a very nice pontoon. Went on the pizza train, we were a little disappointed, in the train ride, have been on several others in other states that had better views, for the price. Went minature golfing and go-kart racing. Overall we just had a great time, with family relaxing, playing alot of games, reading, and just sitting on the porch or in the screened porch. We will for sure try and rent this place again!

Fantastic Cabin!

This cabin is just delightful. Very clean, beautifully furnished and quite comfortable. We absolutely loved the screened porch, there was rarely a time that someone wasn't out there reading. The Bose system was wonderful (Grandpa loaded up some CDs shortly after we arrived) as was the pool table - which was a welcome addition on a cool, rainy day. We would absolutely recommend this cabin to anyone heading to NW Wisconsin. It's close enough to Spooner to run in for groceries, but very quiet and secluded on a private lake. Caught lots of fish - all thrown back - but the fish were definitely biting. Thanks for a wonderful family vacation.

We wanted to find a place near my family when we visit from Ohio, what a find! We couldn't be happier with the cleanliness and quality of the cabin and its amenities. Although they are well done, pictures do not do this property justice. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the cabin and enjoyed the beauty of the lake with its wildlife as well. We saw albino deer on several occasions (which I had never seen even after growing up within 10 miles of the property) also bald eagles, otters and especially enjoyed the calls of the loons at dusk. Our children have asked if we can return each year, and we plan on it.

This cabin has it all ~ the first impression on driving in is "Wow! It's rustic, private, a private entrance to the lake, and beautiful grounds. On entering, the interior is beautiful, warm and has the comforts of home, yet you know you're away! No TV, and music all around. A screen porch, AND a deck! Comfortably furnished with an artistic eye! Thank you! I'll be back! Donna Bennett
