You will not find a better location in Spearfish Canyon. This beautiful, clean home is the former cabin of a governor of the state of South Dakota. It is located directly next door to the Latchstring Restaurant and across the road from the Spearfish Canyon Lodge. Anytime you don't feel like cooking you can walk next door for breakfast, lunch, or dinner or head over to the Lodge for drinks with friends.
The cabin is located 20 miles into the canyon directly in the center of Spearfish Canyon perfectly situated for viewing the spectacular fall leaves. It is the only canyon available for lodging that is actually located inside Spearfish Canyon. It is beautifully decorated and features a completely stocked kitchen, a screened-in porch facing Spearfish Creek, a deck which enjoys panoramic views of the canyon walls, and two well-appointed bedrooms with brand-new queen mattresses and an additional room which has a new twin mattress.
During the winter the cabin is located directly across from the best snowmobiling trails in the Black Hills(snowmobiles available for rent) and a 15 minute drive to Terry Peak and Deer Mountain Ski Areas. In the summer it enjoys the perfect location for biking and fishing and hiking. We are located at the Savoy trailhead and across the street from the Roughlock falls trailhead. Keep your window open at night and let the sound of the falls lull you to sleep.
For your enjoyment we have added a flat-sreen tv with Direct tv and dvd player. Free high speed wireless internet and local telephone calls are also availble for the working vacationer!

We recently spent a week at this cabin in Spearfish Canyon. The location is excellent, the cabin is very well-outfitted and comfortable! We cook in alot on our vacations and enjoy great food and the kitchen is extremely well outfitted for a vacation rental. The beds were especially comfortable and loved the convenience of the washer and dryer too! Short walk to Spearfish Falls, Latchstring Inn Restaurant and the Spearfish Lodge. Great hiking trails nearby and great trout fishing! Cabin had the perfect mix of old atmosphere but with modern appliances and conveniences. Loved returning to the back patio after a day's adventures and enjoying the mountain air, the sound of the stream, and the view of the canyon walls - can't be beat with a nice glass of wine and the warmth of a fire. Beautiful weather (not too hot compared to the rest of the country right now) and lovely wildflowers this time of year too! Hope to return in years to come! Truly one of our favorite vacation spots ever!

I am moving from San Jose, CA to Pittsburg, PA. I stayed for some respite and relaxation en route across country and ultimately to medical school. I did lots of hiking: Sylvan Lake's Sunday Gulch Trail-not for the faint of heart or the weak of constitution. Iron Creek Trail-gorgeous. Spearfish Canyon and Falls-easy and very picturesque. Rough Lock Falls also easy and beautiful. Mt Rushmore: I'd recommend the Lighting Ceremony (too hot in the daytime). Sylvan Lake and the Needles Highway were great as was Iron Creek. I loved making it back to the cabin about twighlight!

Thank you for the great accomodations! The cabin was absolutely terrific. Our three boys loved it so much, they have been very sad since we left. I hope you'll be providing the cabin in the future. This is a place we'd like to come back to years to come. Hope you have a terrific 4th.
