Live as a local, with all international comforts, in a newly renovated architect designed, 32 square metre apartment, plus 8 meter balcony, (Caroline Hentschel DPLG),smack bang in the centre of Paris, near new and trendy rue Montorgueil (For those of you who have read "Almost French"-by Australian author Sarah Turnbull- we've been unintentionally living the live version as a Franco-Australian couple in the same area of Paris).
Our apartment is easy to find being conveniently located within 1-3 minutes walking distance of 3 metro stations, including direct connection to Gare du Nord (Eurostar terminal) and also close to Chatelet/ Les Halles (direct connection to CDG airport) and a taxi rank is near by. There is even a bike place which has just opened up downstairs.
Once you arrive, you won't need to worry about transport because you can easily walk to the Louvres museum, the Georges Pompidou Center, the Marais area, Palais Royal and loads of Paris shopping bars and restaurants.
At the end of the day, it's easy to relax in our modern minimalistic light apartment, but still typically Parisian, with it's 18th century beams, which gives our (your) home a very cozy feeling. You've got all modern conveniences, highspeed internet (Apple G4) / free international phone to contact home, cable TV, DVD (all zones), etc (all listed below).
A feature is our garden balcony (with optional sail) where it is lovely to sit out and overlook all the roof tops of Paris with a nice glass of wine or with your "café et croissants" in the morning (we're on the 5th floor - no lift - easy daily workout, save money on gym pass!).
Upon arrival,Breffni, Julien, Noella, or Vincent (who speak English!) will welcome you after your journey and be happy to answer any questions you may have. (They will then also "be there for you 24/7" during your entire visit, should you have any further questions).
73 has been a perfect home for us (Australian classical singer/ music theater director and French journalist/ doco maker) and all our international friends and family...we hope you'll enjoy it as much as we have!

My cousin and I recently spent the last month in Liz and Albert's quaint Parisian apartment that is positioned right in the heart of Paris life! The apartment was fully equipped and enabled us to do normal living activities (washing, cooking, relaxing) even while on holiday. It definitely made things easier and everything was easy to use! The apartments is in walking distance to many tourist attractions (Opera, Madeliene, louvre, Tuileries gardens and we even walked to Eiffel tower approx 45mins!) we found many great places to see, shop at and eat at along the way too. There are local food markets every week just down the road and an array of delicious restaurants and cafes too! Overall we had the best first Parisian experience and it made all the difference coming home after a long adventurous day to what we named "our cosy little abode!" So thank you Albert and Liz for your Paris apartment a d distant hospitality :) your extensive information and guidance!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

OMG - the apartment was awesome. A bijou apartment right in the heart of Paris with lovely rooftop views. The apartment had everything one could need - the spare bed in the lounge is comfortable too which is a bonus. It is a short walk to the Louvre, Les Halles, the Opera and of course, the Seine. The owners are incredibly helpful, as too is the lovely person who meets you at the door when you arrive. Yes, there are 5 flights of stairs that are a challenge on the first day but my legs look great now so I am grateful. I couldn't recommend this apartment more highly, we wouldn't stay anywhere else.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Sally, What a delight to read your review. Albert and I are so happy that you enjoyed your time in Paris and that our home worked for you. Grate that your legs are in top shape too - so funny! Thank you for your recommendation, it was unexpected and a delight. All the best (and so happy that your boxes from France are slowly arriving!). Good luck with the last one. Liz et Albert

ahhh Liz et Albert, thank you so much for owning/then renting this superb apartment in such a convenient spot in paris. It was a delight - perfect in so many ways, clean, peaceful, very well equipped, no street noise, close to 3 metro stations. Walking distance to so many highlights. Steps ?what steps - put the key in the blue door - marking relief, reach for a glass and reflect on a full day of touristing at the bottom - Hint: chat as you go. Rue Montorgueil stores, cafes, wine bars, the patisserie just cover it all. Found ourselves making our way back there towards the end of our days - Breffni was extremely helpful - nothing would be a problem. I would recommend to friends and hope to be there again myself. cRecommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Oh, we are so happy that you had a nice time here at home in Paris. We are so lucky to have Breffni, and yes, I agree, chatting up the stairs is the trick (and great for the heart mum says). Rue Montorgueil; always a treat..thank you for taking the time to write your experience. I believe it helps others find the right place for them. All the best, Liz et Albert

Staying at the apartment of Liz and Albert enhanced our (two retired US teachers) Paris experience tremendously. This cozy home-away-from-home provided all we could want and need for a wonderful week in the City of Lights. The location is great; all of Paris was accessible and walkable. Our accommodations were complete with computer, comfy bedding, a microwave for early morning tea, and a great shower to wash away the exhaustion of many hours of touring. Beware: the 94 steps from ground floor to the top level apartment are grueling at first, but after several days/nights of climbing, they become more and more manageable. The lovely Montorguiel neighborhood only a couple of blocks away is fantastic and very welcoming. I recommend an immediate visit upon arrival! Especially pleasant and helpful was the assistance given us by friends of the owners. We hope to return.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much Deanna for sharing your Paris experience with others. We really appreciate your time and kindness to do this. And great, 94 stairs, someone counted them finally! We found the trick was to have a conversation whilst going up them, then you are at the top before you know it, plus have done your daily exercise! And yes, for those reading, Rue Montorgueil is first stop for everything. I don't think a day went by when we lived in Paris that we wouldn't walk up Rue Montorgueil.. my favourite street in PARIS. We hope you DO return soon. `Bisous! Liz et Albert

Thank you Liz and Albert for allowing us to stay in your apartment. I liked the fact that the apartment is in an actual neighborhood. Turn left from the apartment and see some very interesting sights on your way to the grocery market. Turn right and find dozens of restaurants a few hundred yards away. Close enough to walk to the Louvre, Norte Dame, Latin Quarter, etc. The apartment has everything you need to be comfortable and enjoy Paris. And, Breffni was great and very helpful. Again, thank you Liz and Albert.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Dear Steve, Thank you so much for taking time to share your great experience with us. Albert and I are really delighted that it was a great time for you all. It is a great area isn't it. So Paris! Glad everything was comfortable, and you had all you needed. It would be a delight to welcome you again anytime. All the best! Liz et Albert

Thank you Liz & Albert for letting us stay in your wonderful apartment. It was a great place to come home to at the end of our always hectic days. It was so peaceful and quiet there and we took advantage of that with a nice glass of wine to end our days. It was a great location as well, the Louvre was so close and there was so many great things to see along the way. Rue Montorgueil was the best place to go people watching, eating, shopping, all of the above! There are some amazing stores along that street and I highly recommend taking it all in! Not to mention it was very close to 3 Metro lines that was super convienant for us. All in all, it was a great location and it had everything we needed inside and out. Thank you again for all the help it was great meeting Breffni as well! Ps, I think we might have scared him a little with all of our questions and bantering, we are kind of a wild bunch! :) I can't wait to come back to Paris and stay in that exact place!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: So glad you all had a great time in Paris. Breffni said you were all a hoot! Fantastic! Look forward to welcoming you all again! Thanks so much for the review too! Warm Regards, Liz et Albert

Liz and Albert... your apt was very comfortable and a joy to come home to after the long days of sightseeing. My sister and I were thankful to have a washer/dryer and kitchen available for our long stay. The apt is indeed centrally located to the Metro stops and Monoprix stores. For anyone traveling to Liz's apt, I highly recommend the Sentier Metro stop(green line) as it let's you off at the Montogrueil(spelling?) Street which is filled with cafe's and patisserie's. Your man, Breff, was very helpful and responded to our needs immediately. Thank you for helping to make our first visit to Paris a memorable one.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Good point, the Sentier is a great metro stop for us... about 3mins walk from the apartment perhpas (and yes, in Rue MONTORGUEIL).. (close spelling, took me years to say it never loan spell it!). Albert and I were blessed to have you stay in our home. And happy that Breffni did a great job (as always.. he is a star!) Warmest Regards, and thanks for the comment! Liz et Albert

The perfect appartment to stay in if you'd like a romantic getaway in Paris. For us, it was exactly what we wanted. The 2nd arrondissement has always been one of my favourite parts of Paris from the days when I lived there. You are slap bang in the middle of everywhere and rue Montorgueil is such a lovely, lively street. I almost didn't want to leave (but had to to return to our 3 baby sons at home!). The appartment has everything you could need for a stay in Paris. We would both recommed it. Thanks Liz and Albert.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Really happy you had a great time. Maybe you'll return someday to introduce your boys to the area when they are a little older. Thanks for staying! LIz et Albert

Dear Liz et Albert, Just to let you know we loved your apartment and thank you. We had a wonderful four days in Paris. It was extremely cold and it was lovely to come back to a warm and cosy place to rest after a long day sight-seeing.It felt like home and much much better than a hotel. Julien was very helpful and punctual. The stairs were tough but we managed and realise we were not as fit as we thought we were. Well worth it for the convenience and proximity to all the beautiful Paris sights.Should any of our friends wish to visit Paris, I will certainly reccommend your beautiful apartment right in the heart of this wonderful city. Best wishes to you both in sunny Sidney. Ursula and Hilary, Cork Ireland.Owner response: Thank you so much Ursula and Hilary. Your comment is wonderful - tells of the area, the convenience (and yes once again, Julien features, we are lucky to have him and our other friends.) Best Wishes to you both in sunny Cork! Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: Franco-Australian couple, Elizabeth and Albert Lecoanet lived "the Parisian life" in 73 rue de clery 5 years together (13 years altogether for Albert) before they decided to do a total architect-designed renovation of the apartment in the summer of 2007, and move to New York City, and rent out their Paris home. The simple reason why they kept and rented their apartment in Paris, is because they have lived such a great Parisian local life, that they wanted to share this unique experience with fellow travelers. French born Albert is a TV journalist now working as a foreign correspondent for French TV in the USA. You may see him or his name on M6, France 2, Canal Plus, TF1, Arte or some of the cable channels. Albert is also a documentary filmmaker. Elizabeth (Liz) was born in Australia (Brisbane!) and is a singer, music theatre director, a teacher and a massage and sound therapist. She directed 3 musicals whilst living in Paris including Les Miserables (in French of course!) She also sang beautiful ancient music at the church St Eustache, just down the road from the apartment, where thanks to the rehearsal each week, she also learned to speak French. You can go and hear the Choir "Les Chanteurs de Saint Eustache" each Sunday morning at 11am, (free). Today, Liz and Albert love, live and work in New York, and enjoy regular trips to France, Australia to visit their families and friends; and they also enjoy discovering America and other countries when the opportunities arise. "Our apartment is for people who want to have a taste of what real life in Paris is like (except that we added all the "non-French conveniences" like air conditioning, free international phone,etc.!)." We hope you'll love Paris in our home, as much as we did! Welcome to Peace and Light in the Heart of Paris!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Whilst we didn't purchase our Parisian home for a "vacation rental", it was bought as a home to live in; it is located right in the heart of Paris and within walking distance to all the major "tourist attractions"; for example, we are a 10 mins walk to the Louvres, 10 mins the other way to the Georges Pompidou Centre etc.
More interestingly though, for us, is that the current local hot spot for Parisians, Rue MONTORGUEIL, is only 3 mins away from our apartment. The Montorgueil street is a pedestrian street filled with cafes, restaurants, bars and specialty food shops. Fine local French cuisine. Need I say more?
This area is called Les Halles (or literally "The Halls") and was the original market place of Paris (back in Roman times and up until the 70s!). When the car was invented, the small cobble stone street got all congested and the commercial markets moved out of the centre, however the Les Halles area kept its flavor and many fromageries, patisseries, and French specialties can be found in this area (including the Patisserie Stohrer dating back to 1750).
