ahhh Liz et Albert, thank you so much for owning/then renting this superb apartment in such a convenient spot in paris. It was a delight - perfect in so many ways, clean, peaceful, very well equipped, no street noise, close to 3 metro stations. Walking distance to so many highlights. Steps ?what steps - put the key in the blue door - marking relief, reach for a glass and reflect on a full day of touristing at the bottom - Hint: chat as you go. Rue Montorgueil stores, cafes, wine bars, the patisserie just cover it all. Found ourselves making our way back there towards the end of our days - Breffni was extremely helpful - nothing would be a problem. I would recommend to friends and hope to be there again myself. c

Owner response:Oh, we are so happy that you had a nice time here at home in Paris. We are so lucky to have Breffni, and yes, I agree, chatting up the stairs is the trick (and great for the heart mum says). Rue Montorgueil; always a treat..thank you for taking the time to write your experience. I believe it helps others find the right place for them. All the best, Liz et Albert

A cozy Paris retreat

Guest: Fifi and Lulu (New Jersey USA)
Date of Stay: 10/16/11 Review Submitted: 10/24/11

Staying at the apartment of Liz and Albert enhanced our (two retired US teachers) Paris experience tremendously. This cozy home-away-from-home provided all we could want and need for a wonderful week in the City of Lights. The location is great; all of Paris was accessible and walkable. Our accommodations were complete with computer, comfy bedding, a microwave for early morning tea, and a great shower to wash away the exhaustion of many hours of touring. Beware: the 94 steps from ground floor to the top level apartment are grueling at first, but after several days/nights of climbing, they become more and more manageable. The lovely Montorguiel neighborhood only a couple of blocks away is fantastic and very welcoming. I recommend an immediate visit upon arrival! Especially pleasant and helpful was the assistance given us by friends of the owners. We hope to return.

Owner response:Thank you so much Deanna for sharing your Paris experience with others. We really appreciate your time and kindness to do this. And great, 94 stairs, someone counted them finally! We found the trick was to have a conversation whilst going up them, then you are at the top before you know it, plus have done your daily exercise! And yes, for those reading, Rue Montorgueil is first stop for everything. I don't think a day went by when we lived in Paris that we wouldn't walk up Rue Montorgueil.. my favourite street in PARIS. We hope you DO return soon. `Bisous! Liz et Albert

Fun in Paris

Thank you Liz and Albert for allowing us to stay in your apartment. I liked the fact that the apartment is in an actual neighborhood. Turn left from the apartment and see some very interesting sights on your way to the grocery market. Turn right and find dozens of restaurants a few hundred yards away. Close enough to walk to the Louvre, Norte Dame, Latin Quarter, etc. The apartment has everything you need to be comfortable and enjoy Paris. And, Breffni was great and very helpful. Again, thank you Liz and Albert.

Owner response:Dear Steve, Thank you so much for taking time to share your great experience with us. Albert and I are really delighted that it was a great time for you all. It is a great area isn't it. So Paris! Glad everything was comfortable, and you had all you needed. It would be a delight to welcome you again anytime. All the best! Liz et Albert

Thank you Liz & Albert for letting us stay in your wonderful apartment. It was a great place to come home to at the end of our always hectic days. It was so peaceful and quiet there and we took advantage of that with a nice glass of wine to end our days. It was a great location as well, the Louvre was so close and there was so many great things to see along the way. Rue Montorgueil was the best place to go people watching, eating, shopping, all of the above! There are some amazing stores along that street and I highly recommend taking it all in! Not to mention it was very close to 3 Metro lines that was super convienant for us. All in all, it was a great location and it had everything we needed inside and out. Thank you again for all the help it was great meeting Breffni as well! Ps, I think we might have scared him a little with all of our questions and bantering, we are kind of a wild bunch! :) I can't wait to come back to Paris and stay in that exact place!

Owner response:So glad you all had a great time in Paris. Breffni said you were all a hoot! Fantastic! Look forward to welcoming you all again! Thanks so much for the review too! Warm Regards, Liz et Albert

Liz and Albert... your apt was very comfortable and a joy to come home to after the long days of sightseeing. My sister and I were thankful to have a washer/dryer and kitchen available for our long stay. The apt is indeed centrally located to the Metro stops and Monoprix stores. For anyone traveling to Liz's apt, I highly recommend the Sentier Metro stop(green line) as it let's you off at the Montogrueil(spelling?) Street which is filled with cafe's and patisserie's. Your man, Breff, was very helpful and responded to our needs immediately. Thank you for helping to make our first visit to Paris a memorable one.

Owner response:Good point, the Sentier is a great metro stop for us... about 3mins walk from the apartment perhpas (and yes, in Rue MONTORGUEIL).. (close spelling, took me years to say it never loan spell it!). Albert and I were blessed to have you stay in our home. And happy that Breffni did a great job (as always.. he is a star!) Warmest Regards, and thanks for the comment! Liz et Albert

The perfect appartment to stay in if you'd like a romantic getaway in Paris. For us, it was exactly what we wanted. The 2nd arrondissement has always been one of my favourite parts of Paris from the days when I lived there. You are slap bang in the middle of everywhere and rue Montorgueil is such a lovely, lively street. I almost didn't want to leave (but had to to return to our 3 baby sons at home!). The appartment has everything you could need for a stay in Paris. We would both recommed it. Thanks Liz and Albert.

Owner response:Really happy you had a great time. Maybe you'll return someday to introduce your boys to the area when they are a little older. Thanks for staying! LIz et Albert

Dear Liz et Albert, Just to let you know we loved your apartment and thank you. We had a wonderful four days in Paris. It was extremely cold and it was lovely to come back to a warm and cosy place to rest after a long day sight-seeing.It felt like home and much much better than a hotel. Julien was very helpful and punctual. The stairs were tough but we managed and realise we were not as fit as we thought we were. Well worth it for the convenience and proximity to all the beautiful Paris sights.Should any of our friends wish to visit Paris, I will certainly reccommend your beautiful apartment right in the heart of this wonderful city. Best wishes to you both in sunny Sidney. Ursula and Hilary, Cork Ireland.

Owner response:Thank you so much Ursula and Hilary. Your comment is wonderful - tells of the area, the convenience (and yes once again, Julien features, we are lucky to have him and our other friends.) Best Wishes to you both in sunny Cork! Liz et Albert

Thank you so much for providing a cozy, well-equipped apartment for our visit to Paris. What a treat to come home to every night! The location was perfect as we became "locals" on the Montegreuil. Julien was also terrific - we lost a suitcase and he was a tremendous help with the calls to the airport, etc. We had an incredible time which we hope to duplicate in the near future. Lorne and Barb Goodman Rothesay, New Brunswick Canada

Owner response:Perfect! That's exactly what Albert and I hoped when we decided to share our Paris home, that lovely people like yourselves would become "locals" in Paris too! Glad Julien helped you with lost baggage at the airport... nightmare! Happy New Year and we hope to welcome you again to your home in Paris! Best Regards, Liz et Albert

It's hard to know where to start with describing this apartment. We have stayed in many apartments in Paris. This one was in a perfect location for our needs - great access to the Metro, fantastic neighborhood with many restaurants, nightlife, grocery, and colorful locals! It is nicely appointed to meet your needs. We greatly appreciated Julien, Albert and Liz. They were very friendly, accommodating and did everything we needed on time and on the mark! Thanks so much for sharing this great space!

Owner response:"De rien"... no worries mate. I am so happy all worked out well for you and you enjoyed yourselves, the area and our Paris home. Julien is really great, we agree. Thanks for the lovely comment, Liz et Albert

Many thanks for a fantastic visit to Paris! Your apartment is lovely and perfectly appointed. If we owned it ourselves we would not change a thing (OK, maybe some sort of pulley system to help get folks up the stairs after a long day--like the "j" bar at a ski resort). More importantly, thanks for all the personal touches including well thought out arrival instructions and neighborhood tips. We look forward to returning to "Peace and Light" (can never have enough of either, can you) on future visits to Paris.

Owner response:Thank you so much Maureen. Albert and I are so glad you enjoyed the apartment (and happy we have the same taste in things!). Also, that's so funny about the "J" bar - when I used to carry the shopping home (why did I not get delivery?)... So, thank you again, and we would love to welcome you again to "peace and light" - and no, we can never have enough of these. Warmest Regards, Liz et Albert

Dear Liz and Albert, thank you so much for the use of your lovely apartment in the heart of Paris. The internet access was a luxury to be able to keep in contact with family and check up on Paris sightseeing information. Your advice on local restaurants and places to see was very helpful and having Rue Montorgueil right on your door step was wonderful for shopping for groceries or stopping at one of the many cafes or restaurants.

Owner response:Dear Deborah and Alexa, Great to know... that our favourite restaurants are still fabulous. Thanks for your comment! Best Wishes, Liz et Albert

We enjoyed our month in Paris ever so much. It was all we hoped it would be. The apartment was perfect in every way. Even in October we enjoyed sunny breakfasts on the lush terrace. The apartment has everything one could imagine needing for a month stay in Paris. We really did look forward to coming "home" after a busy day of walking every where. It is perfectly situated to enjoy all that Paris has to offer and EAT! Thank you Liz and Albert for being so attentive and for giving us the peace of mind that you were only a phone call or email away. Hope to see you in Costa Rica. Con carino, Sissy and Peter Burke

Owner response:Dear Sissy and Peter, We want to thank you both, for loving our home so much! It was such a pleasure for us to have you both stay; and we are delighted that our home really became your home too...Thank you for loving our garden too! Would love to see you in Costa Rica someday! Merci beaucoup for a wonderful stay in Paris! Liz and Albert have a welcoming and comfortable flat w/ all the ammenities of home. The location is central, yet off the "touristy" path so you truly feel like a Parisien. We loved the local tips that you provided Liz, and enjoyed many special places/restaurants on your recommendations. The walk up the stairs isn't easy but manageable, and helped to work off all those delicious baguettes & wine we enjoyed! We hope to one day be back- thanks again!

You really are in the heart of Paris at Liz and Albert's place and they and Fred are wonderful hosts. Not only did they make booking and arriving easy but they also gave excellent advice for services in the area. Our two children (10 and 13) felt it was "our" home within minutes of arrival. You can easily pretend you're a local here - it's great to eat and shop on nearby rue M. I couldn't recommend this 'home away from home' highly enough to all, except those with difficulty climbing stairs. The apartment itself is quiet and clean. The air con unit perfect on warm nights and the facilities just perfect. Mind - the laundry machine takes hours, so plan to do one load per evening! Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! Thanks again, Liz and Albert. You are lovely hosts.

Owner response:Dear Joanne and the girls, we are so happy you all found a 'home away from home'. This is the biggest compliment that anyone could give us. Thank you. We hope you'll all be visiting us again before long. You were wonderful guests! Warmest Regards, Liz et Albert. (PS If you set the washer to "2" it gives a "quicker 45min cycle"..sorry, we didn't realise this earlier to tell you!)

The apartment was in a great position, and we really enjoyed the balcony with wine & cheese and baguettes. Totally recommend staying here. But don't have heavy luggage to carry up the stairs!

I stayed at Liz and Albert's cozy apartment over the Christmas holiday. It was perfect! I loved feeling a part of eveyday life in Paris with its proximity to the local merchants, yet it was also very close to major points of interest. The apartment itself was quiet and well stocked with everything from local guidebooks to kitchen necessities...the little balcony was a wonderful place to sit in the sun and enjoy a glass of wine, even in the winter! Thank you Liz and Albert for a memorable stay!

We loved the apartment! It was perfect for a week's stay. The booking process was very easy and painless, and Liz and Albert were very prompt in answering emails. We really enjoyed having Pain au Chocolats every morning from the bakeries on Rue Montorgueil. The apartment had everything we needed, and we especially appreciated the computer with internet access. The internet was invaluable in keeping up to date with the latest news on the transit strike. Lots of stairs though and we're fit 30 somethings! Would not recommend for older folks.

Owner response:Dear Matt and Sharon, Oh no, not a transit strike. You got a REAL french local's experience... (Sorry about that.) Glad the internet helped though. Hope the strike didn't debilitate your trip too much. I'd imagine you'd walk most places anyway.. (except Versailles or something..). Thank you for the comment for others. Hope you'll be able to come again some day (and not experience a national strike!). Of course the Pain au Chocolats are always good! Best Regards Liz et Albert

The apartment is located in a prime location next to the Metro with easy access everywhere. There was plenty of room for my wife and I and the easy phone and internet access was great. If any issues, there are 6 flights of stairs (which I enjoyed to burn off the extra weight from all the great near-by restaurants) that may not be easy to navigate for some. Great hosts and a place I would definitely stay again.
