Juniper Cottage shares with our home two lovely acres in Somesville, a historic village at the heart of Acadia National Park. It is just a short walk to the library, repertory theater, church, museum, and convenience store. Both ocean and lake are within walking distance also. The view from our property is of Cadillac Mountain., across thoughtfully landscaped lawns and gardens. Juniper's screened porch and gas fireplace make it a charming home away in any season.

My husband and I continue to come back here year after year. This cottage is a perfect little house to stay in and we were quite comfortable for our two week stay. Everything is well thought out, from the decor, to the fresh flowers in each room, to the information provided on all there is to do in the area. We had access to beach cahirs and a grill also. The screened-in front porch is the perfect spot for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. We used it a lot! There is also a gas "wood" stove which makes things really cozy on a cool mMaine night. It's only a ten minute ride to Bar Harbor or tho the beach. Acadia National Park is fabulous and that is a quick ride too! We love Juniper and we will keep this as an annual trip as long as we can!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

"Wonderfully comfortable, it offers all the amenities as well as many whimsical and artistic touches crafted by its artist owners. Beautiful light; a stained glass window; a skylight; a cast iron fireplace; and lots of original art all contribute to Juniper's unique aesthetic. Outside, there is easy access to the wonders of the park, a 5 minute walk to the jewel-like harbor of Somesville, and nature everywhere in evidence. Owners are very helpful and welcoming. We have been coming here for almost 10 years." HM, Northfield, MADid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We first stayed in Juniper Cottage in 2008. We're returning to Maine in 2010 and never considered staying anywhere else. The cottage is very convenient to park and island natural attractions and it's close to where you'd get on and off the island. The cottage is clean and the owners are very good at communicating with customers. We'd eagerly stay there again.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I have been coming to this cottage for years. It has everything you need to make you feel at home. It is warmly decorated, with hardwood floors, original art, gas fireplace. We loved sitting in the enclosed porch to have coffee in the morning, looking out at the peaceful landscape. Fresh flowers in each room were a nice touch! Everything we wanted to do was easy to get to in ten minutes, and the owners were happy to help with advice and directions. We will be back again this year!Did you find this review helpful? Lovely property. Very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Spotlessly clean. Centrally located to everything. Owner offered suggestions for places to go and where to eat. Burning Tree Restaurant was perfect for our date night. Kayaking was a good workout for city folks. Hiking trails for every level of hiker. Sightseeing boat tours. It was a perfect vacation at a perfect cottage.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.
