We truely enjoyed staying at your home; it was well stocked with everything we might have needed. Laurie was amazing. She was great to talk to and gave us suggestions of things to do and see. We arrived late at night and the basket of fruit and coffee was appreciated along with the haupia pie a couple of days later (my son's new favorite pie). We will definately see you on our next visit to Hawaii. Mahlo

Six of us stayed for a two week visit. The location was good but wished it was alittle closer to the Waikiki. It was so good to have breakfast and supper at the house. That saved us alot of money and the lanai was the perfect place to cool off with drinks. Ate most meals there also. Enjoyed watching the geckos catch their meal every night. Even named them. Haha. The free long distance was great. Well worth it for me as I called home everyday. I would rent this property again when returning to Hawaii.

Thank you Laurie, Danielle and Darla. It was a great place to start our Hawaii dream. The location was great for exploring the Island and then going home for some relaxing moments on the lanai, and not to forget the BBQ,s. Enjoyed the walks on beach and some interesting convsations with Laurie. Such a special person. The house is very spacious and well equiped and you feel like home as soon as you walk in. It made us feel as like natives. The welcoming Fruit, chocolate and Coffee. We really felt like real neighbors. Wished we could have stayed longer, but we hope to come back soon. Thanks a bunch for sharing your home with us David, Francine, Kilian and Valerie

We just spent 13 days here. The house is well appointed, has lots of space. There were 6 in our party. On atrial, the house was open, with a huge fresh fruit platter awaiting! The bedrooms are very comfy and the decor is very Hawaiian with lovely pictures all around. It's so close to the beach and Laurie, the owner, is located next door in case of any problems. I would recommend this place for groups and families, but you'll need a car to get about. Ewa beach road has a mix of old Hawaiian homes and some new multi million dollar homes right on the beach. We loved mixing with the locals who lived there. Thanks Darla and Laurie ( and team!). We will be back!

Thank you Laurie/Darla, we had a great stay at the beach house. We were a family of 6 and had lots of room, especially enjoyed happy hour on the back porch. Could hear the waves rolling in and went to the beach every day with a nice view of Waikiki and Diamondhead in the distance. The house had every amenity one could ask for and the area was nice to walk around (golf course just down the road). Easy to access other points on the island and you are not crammed in with tourists in this quiet area. Thanks to others for their reviews, it made me confident in my accomodation selection and made my rental a great experience.

Thanks so much for letting us enjoy your wonderful beach house! Laurie & Darla, you both made our reunion trip organized, dealing with all the details, so little 10 month old Louis could have a great time as we did. Your home was such a welcoming and homey atmosphere that the Aussies and we Canadians felt right at home. Thanks Laurie for the great tips about places to see and do around the island. Waikiki Friday at Dukes was the best and making us aware of the shrimp trucks on the North Shore was great. Thanks too for the wonderfully stocked kitchen, as we shared many great meals together and caught up with our far away family. We highly recommend your beach house to all our friends back in Canada. We loved it here & the whole island experience. Not looking forward to pulling on the socks & shoes and returning to winter up north. Mahalo!

She gave us great ideas for places to go. We loved the Hau Tree Restaurant. Well appointed -well stocked home. We appreciated the gift basket. We all love the fruit of Hawaii. We recently rented this house with two other couples for a week. We were there with several other couples for a soccer tournament, and we rented several houses along Ewa Beach Road. Two were right on the beach; the others all had very easy access. I was initially disappointed that our house was not on the ocean. The view of the ocean is blocked by the house immediately behind ours. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, because there were a few severe, windy storms while we were there and our house didn't get any water in it. Some of the other houses did get rain water in them because of the wind. It only took a minute - literally! - to walk to the beach. Laurie is a dream. She welcomed us with open arms and checked with us daily to make sure we had everything we needed. She left a lovely bowl of fruit, coffee, snacks and treats for us upon our arrival. It was a very welcome touch. We especially loved the chocolate-covered macadamia nuts! Thank you, Laurie! This house is so cozy, comfy, and spotlessly clean! Most of the bedrooms are good-sized, and they all have ceiling fans. There are also three ceiling fans in the kitchen, dining, and living rooms as well, so the ventilation was great. The master bedroom was very spacious with a sitting area and king size bed, extra twin bed and a private bathroom. It had windows on two sides. Our room was at the front of the house, with a queen size bed and windows on three sides, a tv, dresser and closet. The third bedroom was smaller with a queen size bed but no closet (there was a clothes rack), with windows on one side. The last room is an office/bedroom with a twin bed and a door to the outside, and a large window next to the door. It was accessible from the kitchen or master bedroom. There was a second bathroom off the hall; however there is no lock on the door! Enough towels and beach towels. The kitchen is well-stocked - plenty of pots & pans, silverware, plates and glasses. Although we didn't use the dining table for meals, we did use it for our computers. The wifi access was excellent, as was cell phone coverage. (Not so for some of the other houses that our group rented.) The living room is on the small size, but we didn't spend much time there anyway. The back porch, with its wicker chairs and bistro table with stools was wonderful. We spent a lot of time there, outside, out of the sun, enjoying the birds and cute back yard. A perfect place to read or visit. There is a picnic table too!
Owner response:Hi Marty & the gang, What a joy having your group in Ewa. I think the whole neighborhood missed you all when you left. It is a rare occasion to have any storms on the Ewa Beach side but you happen to hit one of those weeks where it was quite wet. I appreciated your very thorough review. Thank for making mention of the bathroom lock we will get right on that. I did not know that was the case. You are all welcome to come back. Blessings and warmest aloha! Laurie & Darla

Tonight is our last night in Paradise! We really enjoyed our stay at your lovely beach house. We celebrated my birthday here on the 1st & My husband and I 26th wedding anniversary on the 3rd. My daughter & her fiance married in Waikiki on the beach on the 3rd as well. It was a lovely ceremony. We visited the North Shore where my son surfed 10 ft. waves(scarey)! We live in South Texas close to Mexico and we enjoy the delicious seafood-but NOTHING compares to Oahu!! Come visit us Laurie!!

Super Rindersteaks in 15 Minuten. I hope we come back. Frauke and Companie

From the moment you walk through the door, you feel at home here. Extraordinarily equipped with everything you can think of or possibly need. And Lauries Hospitality and generosity is unmatched. Loads of room. You never feel cramped or the need to "get away" to find space. Beautifully decorated with a truly homey feel. We could easily live here. Our favorite place? The back deck! Perfect for a quiet morning, or an evening chat. Thank you Laurie and Darla! You have that way of making people feel genuinely special. We will return... PS: The chocolate cream pie is best eaten for breakfast on the porch. Your on holiday right?!

Stayed here in September with another couple and truly enjoyed it. First time to Oahu, I must say that I feel like I experienced a local neighborhood, easy living and of course ... the Pacific. The great experience started with booking and continued through until we left. Only 30 min max from HNL, it seemed worlds away from hustle and bustle yet close enough for adventure and sight seeing. Diamond Head in the distance, sunsets over water and crashing waves at night made my trip fantastic. I don't think I could ever stay at a hotel in HI after this experience. This was also my first time booking a vacation rental - with the owner just next door, grocery store down the street and beach just out the door, I could actually escape my busy schedule and enjoy a vacation!

This rental is worth every penny. You are close enough to the beach to hear the waves from the porch and the beach is almost private. The view is stunning from the beach (Diamond Head and Honolulu). Darla was the most gracious hostess. We took our whole family for our 30th anniversary and we had a blast. We are totally sold on Hawaii and will return. The house is exactly the way it is pictured on the website. Very clean and full of everything you could possibly need for the beach and entertainment for all ages. We had 6 adults and a 3 yr old and were very comfortable. The beds are comfortable. When on the beach take a walk and see if the monk seals are sunning themselves. Most of all take time to relax on the beach and enjoy your time at this beautiful place on Ewa Beach. We were totally satisfied with everthing. They made our 30th anniversary very special.

Laurie and Darla were amazing. We when arrived Laurie came by to great us. There were snacks and fresh fruit in the kitchen. My fiance was especially excited to see that there was a rice cooker as he is filipino and loves to eat rice with every meal. The house was equiped with everything you could ever need. I am definately coming back. I felt like this was home. Laurie and friends made it a fantastic experience. When the bbq was not working, they brought over their own for us to use. Very Aloha spirited. I would recommend this home to any of my family and friends. The house provides boogie boards, snorkel gear and water shoes! A definate plus verses having to rent or buy. I definately will be coming back. Mahalo!

To Laurie, we can't thank you enough for the great hospitality my family & I received while staying at Hale Kai Lani Beach House. We are already planning our next trip. The relaxing atmosphere was incredible. To be able to sleep with the windows open every night and listen to the waves crashing was just simply WONDERFUL. My daughter fell in love with the island and has vowed to live there after finishing school. She has always been a beachbum since the age of 3 and this just made it even better. The beach house made our stay very comfortable and gave us all the features of home. It had everything we needed for the entire week we were there. I wish we could have stayed 2-3 weeks. Maybe on our next stay. I would recommend this home to all my family & friends. To Darla, Thank you for helping me with the accomedations. It was a great pleasure to have met you in person. Look forward to making plans with you in the future. Mahalo to the both of you for everything. Till we see each other again, Take care. P.S. My daughter says " the pie you gave us was GREAT ! What a great house, it has everything home has and more. This was my first house rental and it was the right chioce for my family. There was 6 of us staying at this house and we all had our own privacy. Two grown daughter, a teenage daughter and son, my girlfriend and I. Darla directed my attention to this property after another was booked for our time period. We all looked at the pictures and said it looks nice, WOW - pictures do not do it justice. It is bigger and more comfortable than the pictures show. Everything you could want is here, we even found some spare bibs that we have since long not needed. Upon arrival we found the house book and it covered everything we could have any questions about. Fresh fruit, coffee, milk and juice had been left for us and what a Godsend that was to relax with a cup of JOE before unpacking. Later the owner Laurie showed up and welcomed us and said "any questions please call," I am a short distance away. Laurie called the house a few times to inform us of special events and local attractions worth checking out. Laurie thank you so much for all your help, your kindness and relaxed manor made us feel like Ohana (Family in Hawaiian). God only knows when but we will be back for some more of your hospitality, warmth and to see more of Paradise. This was the best vacation ever - Mahalo Darla and Laurie - You made our trip the best and painless - if you don't count the kids sunburn - LOL.

We stayed nine nights with family members ranging from ages 96 to 10 months old. The house was prefect for our family. When you travel with a baby; you feel like the entire home travels with you. Upon arrival a pack-n-play was set up, high chair in the dining room, a shelf of toys, children books, and family DVD's in the den. We were set. On the back porch was a cabinet fill with snorkels, masks, and water shoes for children and adults. Plenty of boogie boards, surf board, kayaks, beach umbrellas, and beach towels. The home is located in a quiet neighborhood and only a short walking distance to a beautiful beach. The home was very clean and nicely appointed. We cooked most of our meals at home and used the BBQ outside. Laurie lives next door; she was very helpful and welcoming. Our family would definitely use this property again.

We chose to stay at this beach rental because it was away from the city of Honolulu, but close enough to everything else. We also had two families to accomodate: my husband, myself and our teenage son, our daughter and her husband and three little girls. This home was perfect, immaculate and well maintained. The yard was spacious yet private and had lovely flowering bushes. From the moment we stepped in the door, we felt at home. Laurie welcomed us with a fruit basket, chocolates and coffee. One special touch was, a bedroom with a desk (with paper, scissors, stickers and tape) lots of children's books and DVD's, which my 6 year old granddaughter claimed immediately! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. We had an outdoor BBQ with Tiki torches and played the Island music CD many times, which really made us feel like we were in Hawaii! It was close to shopping and the major highway. Laurie was very helpful in suggesting places to shop and how to get to the airport on time....taking the Zip lane, which saved us immensely! It was just the little things that made staying here so enjoyable. There were plenty of boogie boards, beach chairs, snorkel gear and sand toys too. The back porch was nice and relaxing, hearing the sounds of the waves rolling in. It was nice being on the beach that was not full of people too. I would most definitely recommend Hale Kai Lani to my friends and family, and plan to come back again in the hopefully near future. There is much to see and do in Oahu and we didn't have enough days to take it all in.

To begin the only reason I gave this property a 'good' and not an 'excellent' are because of two things that can't be controlled by the owner, The beach (sandy area) is great but there is coral and rock within 15 feet of the beach so it was great for our toddlers but adults could not swim there (and there was no wave action). Also there is an ammunitions range just down the block so on some mornings you could hear the guns being fired. The house is awesome for a young family, we greatly appreciated the playpen, highchair, and kids toys and books. The house was clean, fully stocked, and when we arrived there was a huge fruit basket and milk and juice in the fridge. The yard is fully fenced and there is a gate that can be closed to the road. Our family would go out each night and play in the front yard for hours with all the different toys provided. There was also a playground just down the block at the beach park. For shopping, there was a Foodland, Longs Drugs, Starbucks and Genki Sushi within a 10 minute drive, and a Costco within 15 minutes. A premium outlet mall within 20 minutes!! We received the best hospitality at this rental than in any other in our 12 trips to Hawaii. Also there was a Tsunami evacuation when we were there and Laurie called us hours before the sirens began which as a Mom allowed me to prepare and get everything packed up that we would need. I would definitely recommend this rental, we found a number of beaches good swimming within 10 and 30 minutes (Ko'olina Resort has some great lagoons).
Owner response:The beach changes from different times of the year and even time of day depending on the tide. You will find more water and waves in the summer months. The summer months are the best time for waves and the water in the winter time is more calm. At the end of the beach path is a blue hole with no rock or corals that you can take a dip in all year around. When the waves are extremely high on the north shore in the winter we do not have much wave action.

My husband and I, as well my 85 year old mother and her cousin, were most impressed with Hale Kai Lani. It is very clean, well presented and the amenities are much more than advertised. The location at Ewa Beach is very quiet and easily accessible. The beach is lovely and there are many shops and restaurants nearby. What makes this home even more memorable are Darla and Laurie and the TLC which is extended to their guests. The spirit of Aloha is certainly felt at Hale Kai Lani. Mahalo.

We had a fabulous time in Hawaii. The accomodations were spectacular and far exceeded our expectations. You read descriptions of a rental place on the internet, but seldom do they match or exceed what is described. The house was so well furnished with everything a family of seven needed. The boogie boards, surf shoes, snorkeling equipment, ice chests, etc. were a huge cost savings and convenience for us. The Ewa Beach location of the house turned out to be optimal for all of the excursions that we signed up for. Thanks,

Sitting on the back porch listening the sounds of the ocean and watching the sun come up gave us an inner peace that can't be described. I feel we've known the both of you a lifetime because of the kindness you gave to all of us. The house was perfect in every way. We will surely be back very soon.

If you are looking for a fantastic place to stay that is quiet, safe, ideal for families and away from the bustle then this is it. We had such a wonderful stay that we didn't want to leave and are already planning our next visit. The house was great, nicely decorated, clean and had plenty to keep our kids occuppied. Mahalo to Laurie who was a great host and showed us much warmth and kindeness.

The Hale Kai Lani house was wonderful so perfect for my familys stay in Hawaii. The pictures don't do it justice! Its great there was everything we needed there and more. Darla and Laurie are such wonderful ladies! Very helpful! The house was much more then we expected. It was like just being at home but in Hawaii! We where very happy and sad to go back home in California. We received lots of kind and friendly Aloha spirit from all the neighbors and people around! We would definately stay at this property again. Or any of the others that Darla and Laurie offer. Thanks so much we had a great stay! ALOHA!!!

Thank you Laurie for all your tips on where to go. This home is perfect for ALL age groups. My adult children and teenage grandchild, Charles, never said, "What is there to do". The beach supplies were perfect for snorkeling, boogie boarding and lounging on the beach with a cup of coffee. Wow! It was more than we expected. This is the perfect, safe home for people with little children too. Darla, you were always so pleasing on the phone. You made us feel so welcome. We have memories now that give us the true Hawaii. I stayed there in may of 2009. This house is so close to the beach and that beach doesnt have that many people on it. The people that live there are very nice. The house had everything that you could need. When I go back I'm hoping to stay there again. everybody that I have talk to I have told them if they go to oahu that this is the house that they should stay at. The owner was very helpful and every nice. I took my mom and dad and little brother there and we had a blast and all of us want to go back .

The Hale Kai Lani home was just perfect for our family vacation. Plenty of room and very well maintained. It was wonderful to be away from the busy city and enjoy the beach without the crowds. Darla and Laurie made the trip so easy and provide excellent service and help for what to see when on the island. Thanks so much for the use of this lovely home and we look forward to booking our next trip to Oahu with you!

This was a great place to stay! It's located right outside the city of Honolulu and a 1 minute walk to the beach. We felt very welcomed and the rooms were a great size and plenty of beds. We highly recommend this place to families or larger parties.

What a terrific home away from home. The four of us spent hours on the back deck from morning coffee to the last nightcap after a fun filled day. We've been back home for almost a month and it's been well below zero degrees (exceptionally cold for this time of year) since we've been back and every day we say how much we miss Ewa Beach. Thanks Laurie and Darla for everything you two made it very easy to have a place to stay. We just loved it!! Our entire family just loved our stay at this house. It was everything that the advertisement said...and SO much more! It is definitely very kid friendly. Our children are 4,13, and 15, and there were games and books for all of them to enjoy, but I have to say they all loved the beach toys the best! There are many sizes of boogie boards and snorkels to choose from. We liked to be able to pack up our rental car with beach towels and toys and a cooler (many sizes to choose from) and go explore other beaches. We all liked Ko Olina the best, perfect for kids! Every morning, we woke up and walked along the beach to see what kind of treasures had washed ashore. The property is very private and safe. The back lanai was also a favorite spot to hang out! We enjoyed barbecuing in the back yard...the local grocery stores have a much better variety of meats and seafoods than we are used to finding at home, so that was fun! It was also awesome to have the windows and doors open at all hours, and the ceiling fans going. The weather was perfect, and this property was more than perfect. Most of all, Laurie and Darla are the most helpful and pleasant ladies to have involved in the process, we love them both! We were sad to leave, and came home to snow, so we will be back as soon as we can! Thanks for the most memorable vacation that our family has ever experienced! Aloha!
Owner response:What a joy it is for us to have our guest come and have a wonderful time. I can say Lauire and myself do really care for our guests the way we would want to be taken care of if we were away from home. We truly want our guests to have a home away from home experience and have everything they could need while on vacation. We have been tol our house is better stocked than many of their homes. We have been blessed to make great friends. We look forward to your return. With much aloha! Laurie and Darla

Thank you Darla and Laurie. This place is truly a home away from home. It has all the amenities and more. All the extras that were for our use came in very handy. We appreciate your recommendations to area attractions, too. Thanks for making this a wonderful vacation to remember. Marc and Emily Hurteau and girls

We have been home four days in the winter snow and are missing our Hawaiian home with a passion. It was perfect for six adults as we all had our own privacy when needed. Other e-mails have described this as a "home away from home" and I agree wholeheartedly. When you have six adults that are all in agreement that it is "perfect", that says something. Between the kitchen that was stocked perfectly, to the books, movies etc. that were there, just the atmosphere is exactly what we thought staying at a beach house in Hawaii. We can't say enough good things about Laurie as she is the perfect hostess and it was a pleasure dealing with Darla. Both made us feel welcome, confident with booking unseen territory and comfortable in all ways. Mahalo from us all
