I stayed there in may of 2009. This house is so close to the beach and that beach doesnt have that many people on it. The people that live there are very nice. The house had everything that you could need. When I go back I'm hoping to stay there again. everybody that I have talk to I have told them if they go to oahu that this is the house that they should stay at. The owner was very helpful and every nice. I took my mom and dad and little brother there and we had a blast and all of us want to go back .Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The Hale Kai Lani home was just perfect for our family vacation. Plenty of room and very well maintained. It was wonderful to be away from the busy city and enjoy the beach without the crowds. Darla and Laurie made the trip so easy and provide excellent service and help for what to see when on the island. Thanks so much for the use of this lovely home and we look forward to booking our next trip to Oahu with you!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a great place to stay! It's located right outside the city of Honolulu and a 1 minute walk to the beach. We felt very welcomed and the rooms were a great size and plenty of beds. We highly recommend this place to families or larger parties.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a terrific home away from home. The four of us spent hours on the back deck from morning coffee to the last nightcap after a fun filled day. We've been back home for almost a month and it's been well below zero degrees (exceptionally cold for this time of year) since we've been back and every day we say how much we miss Ewa Beach. Thanks Laurie and Darla for everything you two made it very easy to have a place to stay. We just loved it!! Our entire family just loved our stay at this house. It was everything that the advertisement said...and SO much more! It is definitely very kid friendly. Our children are 4,13, and 15, and there were games and books for all of them to enjoy, but I have to say they all loved the beach toys the best! There are many sizes of boogie boards and snorkels to choose from. We liked to be able to pack up our rental car with beach towels and toys and a cooler (many sizes to choose from) and go explore other beaches. We all liked Ko Olina the best, perfect for kids! Every morning, we woke up and walked along the beach to see what kind of treasures had washed ashore. The property is very private and safe. The back lanai was also a favorite spot to hang out! We enjoyed barbecuing in the back yard...the local grocery stores have a much better variety of meats and seafoods than we are used to finding at home, so that was fun! It was also awesome to have the windows and doors open at all hours, and the ceiling fans going. The weather was perfect, and this property was more than perfect. Most of all, Laurie and Darla are the most helpful and pleasant ladies to have involved in the process, we love them both! We were sad to leave, and came home to snow, so we will be back as soon as we can! Thanks for the most memorable vacation that our family has ever experienced! Aloha!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: What a joy it is for us to have our guest come and have a wonderful time. I can say Lauire and myself do really care for our guests the way we would want to be taken care of if we were away from home. We truly want our guests to have a home away from home experience and have everything they could need while on vacation. We have been tol our house is better stocked than many of their homes. We have been blessed to make great friends. We look forward to your return. With much aloha! Laurie and Darla

Thank you Darla and Laurie. This place is truly a home away from home. It has all the amenities and more. All the extras that were for our use came in very handy. We appreciate your recommendations to area attractions, too. Thanks for making this a wonderful vacation to remember. Marc and Emily Hurteau and girlsDid you find this review helpful? We have been home four days in the winter snow and are missing our Hawaiian home with a passion. It was perfect for six adults as we all had our own privacy when needed. Other e-mails have described this as a "home away from home" and I agree wholeheartedly. When you have six adults that are all in agreement that it is "perfect", that says something. Between the kitchen that was stocked perfectly, to the books, movies etc. that were there, just the atmosphere is exactly what we thought staying at a beach house in Hawaii. We can't say enough good things about Laurie as she is the perfect hostess and it was a pleasure dealing with Darla. Both made us feel welcome, confident with booking unseen territory and comfortable in all ways. Mahalo from us allDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Dear Laurie and Darla: I will never forget our time there. It was one of the best places I have stayed on Oahu. I have recommended your place to many of my relatives who live there as well as the people I work with on the mainland. Your Aloha spirit and hospitality was just out of this world! I hope to return someday. My beautiful husband, passed Nov. '08. It ended up being our last vacation together and he always raved about it. He was hoping to return soon. Nonetheless, great memories, my thanks, and hope others will be able to enjoy your wonderful vacation house. Much Aloha, DeniseOwner response: We felt blessed that you were able to have some very precious family time together before Dale passesd away. Time with our family is so imposrtant and lif is so precious. Im glad you spent that time with us. You and the family are always welcome back. With great memories and much aloha! Laurie and Darla

Hi Laurie and Darla: Thank you so much for making our first trip to Hawaii so special. Even though we arrived during the island wide black-out by the light of day we could see just how special this area is. My heartfelt thanks to Laurie for getting me in to see the Dr. it helped me immensely and I feel so much better. My family and friends had a wonderful time and it was so much more enjoyable than being in a hotel. You both go above and beyond for your guests the true meaning of Aloha spirit!!!! Thanks again for such a memorable stay on your beautiful island.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you so much to Laurie and Darla! Everything on the site was accurate--we visited from Alaska with my parents, sister and my toddler age daughter. The house was perfect and so well stocked. Anything we needed Laurie was there to provide it, along with great company and conversation. The beach was so close, although we did end up driving a lot to see the sights. But it was so nice to get up in the morning and walk the beach, go for a jog and listen to the waves crash at night as you went to sleep. We loved it and would go back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Laurie, Hale Kai Lani is the house where dreams come true! The house is perfect, and just as you describe. Each morning we watched the sun rise as we walked along the beach. Each night we fell asleep to the sounds of the ocean waves. Our children are already asking when we will return. Thank you for helping make a perfect vacation! Ewa Beach is our home away from home. The house and surrounding property are excellent--it was very well equipped with more than everything we needed. With a 19 month old, you have to pack a lot of things, but the property manager and booking agent were so wonderful and had things there for us so we didn't need to pack our entire house! I only rated it a 4 because of its location--it is VERY close to the beach, which was so nice, but its not the best beach on the island and we ended up driving a ways to most of our destinations. But you definitely have the sound and smells of the ocean nearby, there is a large park just down the street, and other conveniences close by. The property manager lives right in front of the house, and she was AWESOME--she attended to everything we needed and was such great company!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: Ewa beach is a place where those who like to swim in moderate waves with boogie boards or go surfing, fishing or snorkeling . If you like a totally sandy bottom with no waves you must visit the Lagoons 20 minutes away at the Ihilani hotel. My kids love to boogie board and spend hours there in front of the house at Ewa Beach but at least a couple of times during our visit we go in the afternoon to the Ihilani hotel in Ko'Olina. They have public beach parking or if you have drinks and appetizers by the pool they will validate your parking ticket. Many times on Friday and Saturday nights there is free Hawaiian entertainment. The Hawaiian Water park is near as well as the aloha stadium swap meet which is an excellent place to buy souvenirs and get a cultural experience. Pearl harbor is a must see for most. I suggest seeing the island in parts instead of going around it in one day. The island is a circle so everywhere you stay you are far from another part to see. Kailua Beach is one of the top 10 beaches in the world. You will want to go. Just a tip it's very lush and green because the clouds hit the mountain range and pours a lot of rain on that side of the island. The chances of getting you vacation rained out is less in Ewa Beach than other parts of the island. The views in Ewa Beach are awesome. You can see Waikiki and Diamond head at a distance. We get beautiful sunrises and in the winter months gorgeous sunsets. The particular part where this house is located we have sandy beaches year around. Not all parts of Ewa Beach has sandy beaches. In the town there is such a variety of restaurants and grocery stores just less than 5 minutes away. Ewa Beach is combined with beauty and convenience. I found a great one hour massage in town at Heavenly scent. We would love to have you as our guests sometime soon.

We stayed at this house in September, and it was wonderful. Laurie frequently checked with us to be sure our needs were attended to, which they were in every way. We had a party of 8, and were able to cook and BBQ at the house, as well as being able to keep the young adults happy with the beach being so close. This was a far better experience than staying at a hotel! Thanks a bunch!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Aloha Laurie and Darla, Wow, this was an awesome experience for us to be apart of. I am so thankful to have FOUND this house, let alone stay there. Being a local resident and furthermore being raised in Ewa Beach, it was just an awesome experience to have stayed there. The house was perfect and it felt like old hawaii. Very welcomed and beautiful. We say in hawaii, "the 'ano was maika'i," meaning the feeling of the house just welcomed you in. I am definitely coming back to stay and Laurie greeted us with so much aloha it was incredible. Please, please, please do not pass up this opportunity to really see what a "HAWAIIAN HOUSE" really feels like. Mahalo nui loa for the wonderful island experience we all had and to top it off, what really got me was(and its coming from a housewife)that there was a clothes steamer instead of an iron. Oh how excited I was when I saw that. We were there for a hula competition and ironing the girls dresses never was easier. Hooray!! Once again, mahalo nui loa...thank you very much. Aloha Leimom Bacalso-Murray and Halau Nawaipunalei!Owner response: What a pleasure to have you and the girls come and stay. You are always welcome. PLease do come again! With much Aloha! Laurie and Darla

Great house.....lots of room for a family. Good neighbourhood. Very close to beach. Only drawback was that it is close to a military magazine, which means being awoken to gunfire every weekday at 7am. Was no problem for us, since we were mostly already up. The owner was amazing, friendly and very accomodating.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.
