Why the Owner Chose Jackson Hole

Teton Valley Idaho is close enough to Jackson for our 'city fix' needs, yet far enough away to be 'away from the madding crowd' and yet still have all of the active lifestyle opportunities offered in Jackson. It's just a different 'vibe' and we have chosen Ski Hill Road because it is close to grand Targhee Resort and Teton Canyon - the West slope's best access to the mountains.

The Unique Benefits at this Town home

The Teton Valley is also known as: 'The Quiet Side of the Tetons'. There is the Teton river to float and fish, many excellent golf courses to chose from, a few very nice eateries and a fabulous grocery store. But most of all - there is peace and quiet and great access to skiing in winter and hiking in summer.

For those who seek activity, Grand Targhee resort offers all sorts of out-door courses and chairlift rides to the summit in summer. Driggs has a very fine small aircraft museum and an excellent restaurant at the airfield. The Huckleberry milkshakes offered at the classic old corner drug store will knock your socks off.

Owner's Map of Jackson Hole

Welcome to the beautiful West slope of the Tetons. Your hosts are Susan and Hamish Tear, who live in Jackson Hole. Hamish is from Scotland and met Susan whilst they were skiing in Vail Colorado, and decided to stay there - for twenty years. They created and operated a Scottish imports business 'Scotch on the Rockies' there, before moving to Jackson in 2002. Our love of the mountains is obvious and we ski, hike, raft, ride horses - the whole tamale.

We are newly empty nesters and intend on living in Ski Hill Road Lodge some time soon. Our two boys, Cameron, 21, and Frazer, 18 were born and raised in Vail and Jackson and are now off in their own worlds - Cameron studying sports physiology at University of Utah, Frazer off on a year-long sabbatical to New Zealand to kayak.

The photo is of Hamish - until we get that updated.

    • Hamish your Condo is FANTASTIC. We were very happy to find your place for our five day stay in the Teton and Yellowstone area. Without a doubt, this vacation and our stay at your condo will become part of our most fond vacation memories. We didn't even know Driggs, ID existed before our stay. We know now that the best local to stay on an visit to this beautiful area of the country is Driggs. The town and its people are very nice, there isn't crowds like in Jackson Hole, and you get a more laid back visit we you leave the beaten path and end up in Driggs. Thirty minute drives to the parks isn't too much to stay in this paradise called Teton Valley.

      Homeowner Response:
What nice comments...this is typical opf the people who stay in this home - and the reaction to 'The Quiet Side of the Tetons' is always a happy one.

    • We enjoyed our stay the house was beautiful. It was easy to make the reservation and the owner was responsive. We also enjoyed the Grand Targhee area. The Skiing was wonderful and not crowded. Unfortunately they had a water main break and Wed. there was no skiing. I recommend the house and area.

    • This townhome was awesome and there was lots of room for our family of 5! Liked that it was new, clean and had nice amenities. Quaint little town area, grocery store within 5 minutes and had everything we needed. About 50 minute drive to Jackson over mountain pass. We enjoyed our stay tremendously.

    • Beautiful townhome with nice master suite and two other well-appointed bedrooms. The furnishings are tasteful, and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was great to have 2.5 baths for our party of six adults. Landscaping was quite nice. I would strongly recommend this rental.

    • Thanks for providing a superb home-base for our vacation! The home was perfect for our group of 3 couples. Plenty of space for everybody, but also cozy areas to hang out in. We cooked many delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen. It was tough to get out of the cozy beds in the morning, but the thought of another powder day at Grand Targhee eased the pain.

    • Fantastic condo! Open and spacious. We loved Driggs and Targhee ski resort was just minutes up the road. Our kids had a blast there learning to ski and it was not overly crowded like some of the other resorts. We took a snowmobile trip to Yellowstone with a local company in Driggs and enjoyed that immensely as well. Our kids had a ball with the bunk beds and we really appreciated the extra twin in the room as well. Definitely would recommend this house to anyone. Contemporary and new yet big and comfortable enough for a group or family with kids. THANKS! Julie & Ray.
