Breathtaking view of Chetco River taken from the deck during winter-2007
Location: Brookings, Southern Coast, Oregon, USA (5 miles east of Brookings on South Bank Chetco Road on left) View Map
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Keywords: A-frame house on the river with awesome view; fishing and swimming on the property
Ideally located in Oregon's desirable 'banana belt', in the middle of the famed 'America's Wild Rivers Coast', is our cozy, A-framed house overlooking the beautiful Chetco River which is a 3-4 minute walk from the house. There you will find a nice beach area for swimming or fishing in season . The house has views from the living room, loft and very large deck which are breathtaking! Kayaks can be rented in Brookings for fun on the river. The Chetco River House is located 5 miles upstream from the ocean and also above the summer morning, coastal fog.
This 1400 sq. ft. slightly rustic home has games for kids, cards, and puzzles, books, and movies. Satellite TV. The 'fully loaded' kitchen, dining area and living room is all one great room. The over-sized deck, which wraps around 2 sides of the house, has a charcoal bar-b-que and patio table with 6 chairs. There are 4 extra patio chairs and 2 child sized chairs on patio. A card table and 2 extra folding chairs can be found in the master bedroom closet if needed.
There are 2 bedrooms and a loft with a futon. The living room has a sleeper sofa. There is also a full-sized air mattress and 2 twin-sized air mattresses if needed.
The Chetco River in front of the house boasts some of the best salmon and steelhead fishing around. Some of the largest salmon on the river are caught right in front of the River House in the fall and winter at Moffet Rock. The Slam'n Salmon Fishing Derby is held every September in Brookings with prizes to the winners and a special hosted barbecue.
The beautiful Salmon Run Golf Course is located 1-1/2 miles from the house. It is a MUST play. Tight fairways and breath taking views on every hole. Salmon Run is ranked one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in Oregon.
The nearby coastal cities of Brookings and Harbor have miles of beaches where one can play in the surf and sand and enjoy a family picnic. Or a 20 minute drive south of Brookings will bring you to the ancient giant redwoods. There's something for everyone here!

Chetco River House-Awesome View with River Frontage & Access!
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Brookings
Upon looking for a place on the Oregon coast that we could someday retire to, we also looked at a little red-roofed A-frame house on the Chetco River that we were falling in love with. Although the other houses we looked at were newer, they did not have the serenity, character, and charm as the River House, which was also a bit of a fixer-upper. So we decided to buy it, replace the old deck with a much larger Trexwood deck, clean up the inside, cut back the overgrown landscaping and make it into the wonderful place it is now. Our guest book, reflects the happiness, fun and memories that are created by the many vacationing families and couples that stay in our home. We hope you will find the same enjoyment in this beautiful spot of heaven on earth.
Owner's Map of Brookings
We are Mark and Patty Christensen. We live in S. California near San Diego. I, Mark, am originally from Long Island, NY, and am a small business owner of Christensen Surveying and Mapping, Inc. I've been doing land surveying for over 30 yrs. I, Patty, am originally from Corona, California. I own my own business as a massage therapist and have been doing this for 18 yrs. We have 5 grown kids between us and also 10 grandkids. Although, most of our time is consumed with doing maintenance on the place, as you can see from the picture here, we also take the time to relax and enjoy what the Lord has blessed us with. We hope the River House will be a blessing to you also.

We absolutely loved this home! It was clean and comfortable and cozy. All the comforts of home and more--the view is just awesome--although we thought there was wood for the stove, but we couldn't find any. The bedding and linens smelled clean and fresh. We hope to come back again. Thank you.

Happy New Year! A most beautiful and pleasant cabin. Beautiful scenery. Just wish the river hadn't of been blown out. Post Script--we've rented cabins in Idaho, Nevada, Whales Head,Calif., Oregon, and Washington, and this was the best so far.

We enjoyed your charming home very much; the view of the meadow with cattle and a herd of elk. Every day we had beautiful sunshine and warm temps. Your home is very well appointed. We had no disappointments. We will definitely be back.

Thank you for sharing your home with it's beautiful views and it's amazing quietness. It is such a treat to not hear cars and to be able to see, touch and swim in this gentle river. We all enjoyed it so much including our dog. Thank you so much for allowing pets! It was also great fun to rent a kayak. Try 'Escape Hatch' at 642 Railroad St. in Brookings (541-469-2914). It's a great way to see the Chetco River and we spent hours using it!
