Tucked into the hillside between the safe neighborhoods of The Castro and The Haight, this elegant private getaway at the top of the Saturn Street stairs is within short walking distance to public transportation and a wide array of first-rate restaurants, coffee houses, gourmet food stores, and shopping. Near the geographic center of San Francisco, this neighborhood has the most favorable weather in San Francisco.

This enchanting get-away, with magnificent sweeping views from Twin Peaks to the Bay, is stylish and has very easy street parking with no permits required. A shared, inviting, landscaped back-yard where you can relax and experience the views completes this captivating experience. Situated near tennis courts, there is a bus stop at the top of the street or you can walk down to the Castro Muni streetcar that goes to Downtown San Francisco, Union Square, the Embarcadero, and Fisherman's Wharf.

Much attention is given to the guest's experience from a welcome guide to San Francisco attractions to cotton linens to a 24-hour cell number in case of emergencies. The flat is well cared for and very clean. The separate bedroom and bath allow you to maintain privacy if another guest is using the living room and kitchen.

The flat has its own entrance and ample room to store your suitcases out of the way. A single, sleeper sofa in the living room provides sleeping for an extra person. The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, flatware, coffeemaker and a full complement of cooking and serving utensils.

Quiet Neighborhood

A deposit of half the total rent is required to hold the reservation. A $25 cancellation fee; deposits non-refundable inside of 45 days.

DAMAGE DEPOSIT- A damage/reservation deposit of $150 cash is required upon check in. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable at the time of departure, provided the following provisions are met:

a. No damage is done to the flat or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear.
b. All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in refuse containers outside, and soiled dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned.
c. All keys are left in the lock box or given to the owners and flat is left locked.
d. No linens or dishes are lost or damaged.

    Having grown up in SF and going back to visit many times, I decided that I wanted to get back to that at-home feel this last visit. I was tired of the loud, cramped hotels, the expensive hotel parking, the lack of privacy, and most importantly the lack of that feeling of actually being part of the city, and more of just a tourist. This is why I wanted to try a vacation rental, specifically this flat. And I'm so glad I did! If you stay, think about what you're missing out on: a private apartment likely twice the size of many hotel rooms, a full kitchen to cook and save money on eating out, a refrigerator for any leftovers, free street parking (many of the hotels I stayed at are around $40 a night!), great views, and being close to public transportation that will take you to many of the tourist areas. I think if you're tired of those plain hotel stays, like me, you have to stay here instead!

  • We chose to stay in Romanus' apartment for the final leg of our honeymoon. The apartment was lovely - exceptionally clean and tidy. Very warm and cosy in a perfect location for wandering off for dinner, drinks or a club, depending on your tastes. Parking is a little like parking in London - you can do it with patience, but we always did manage. The views are spectacular and the garden lovely. We really chilled out and relaxed.

    This is the best place to stay. I stayed for 5 marvelous days at 57 Saturn and was extremely comfortable. I loved being able to go to the farmer's market and store my fruits in the refrigerator to have for the week. The bed was so comfy I found it hard to get out of bed in the morning. Romanus and Keith were so kind and really made me feel welcomed. I will recommend this place to all my friends.

  • This was the 2nd stay for my teenage daughter and myself. We had a very nice stay. The neighborhood is very nice - we love walking down the Saturn stairs and exploring the area. We had a rental car and always able to find parking. Well accommodated and furnished. This time there were new counter tops - very nice! Owner is very helpful!

  • We loved staying at 57 Saturn very much. A great furnished apartment with all comfort and a great view. Romanus was very hospitable. To subway and bus is just a few minutes on foot.   • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 57 Saturn from 6/6/09-6/13/09! The apartment is very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped. The fantastic views are amazing! It was so nice to come "home" after a long day of sightseeing. We will definitely stay here again!

  • We had a fantastic stay at 57 Saturn! My husband, 10 month old son, and I all enjoyed the apartment - especially the views - very much. The neighborhood is great, and access to public transit was very easy. The apartment was beautiful, very clean, and felt like home for nearly a week. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

  • We had the pleasure of staying at 57 Saturn Street from 04/05/09 - 08/05/09. Romanus instantly makes you fell welcome as well as the San franciscans, we have never been to such a warm place with a wonderful soul. The appartment was excellent such a nice retreat to come home to at the end of a busy siteseeing day, and the bed is soooo comfy. Castro, for us was the perfect location, in that it has a lovely friendly feel, good vibe, and most importantly you feel safe and part of the neighbourhood. I can highly recommend this property, and when we return would go back to Saturn. Excellent. Well done Romanus! :)
