My wife and I just spent a week at the sister property to the one shown here. We had an excellent time. The Chalet is very well maintained, cool and quiet. There are about six of these in a row back off the road and though they are close we were never disturbed. The location is perfect. You are close to Asheville, Cherokee, a quick trip to the tourist traps in Tennessee and miles and miles of very serene mountain drives. If you need a shot of adrenalin, you can go to Deals Gap and drive the "Tail of the Dragon". It's 11 miles with 138 curves most hairpin. Then come back to Chalet for a quiet cocoa, coffee or chilled beverage and just mellow out. We found lots of nice places to eat in Maggie and Waynesville and you can save a few bucks staying in and cooking. The Chalet kitchen had all the necessities to set up house. We checked in on Sunday afternoon and the following Sunday when we pulled out we spent 8 hours driving home just talking about all we had done, how well rested were and what a great bang we had gotten for our buck. Thanks Leisa !!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+.
Owner response: How do I even respond to such an awesome review?? I can only express how truely happy it makes me to know others appreciate the Chalet as much as we do. Until you actually go and experience the serenity you feel while you are there, you can't understand it. Thank you for the heartfelt review.

My wife and I, along with our dog, Frodo, celebrated our 53rd anniversary in Maggie Valley. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the A frame was. It was roomy and very comfortable. To sit on the front porch on a lovely afternoon and take in the beautiful mountain view, well it was special. We were also close to a number of good restaurants and activities. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys getting away from the rat race and escaping to the Smokies.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: I am so pleased you enjoyed the Chalet, not surprised though! It truly is my little slice of heaven and so enjoy sharing it with others. Congrats on your 53rd anniversary, may you celebrate, many, many more wonderful years together!

I rented this Chalet for a week for my daughter and two children to stay. Every year they go to the Lake Junaluska (SDA Campmeeting) in North Carolina. Before she always would camp out with the kids so she could afford it the whole week. They talked me in to driving up from GA.to be with them. They arrived at the Chalet a hour before me....and when I drove up my grandson ran out to greet me and said, "Grandma, You're gonna like it....it is so nice! I was amazed how beautiful the Chalet was. It was so relaxing there. I even got to bring my little 5 year old Yorkie (a small deposit required) and that made me very happy as well to have my little pet with me.. The drinking water was so cold. In Ga. you couldn't get the water to come out cold...it was always just a little cool. It was wonderful to get a cold drink of water right out of the faucet. We ate at the Chalet a lot of times and found everything at our finger tips that we needed. It was nice that the bath area was separate from the sink area. That way we could be working on hair and all while the other one was taking a shower. It was nice having a washer and dryer, too. We really enjoyed our stay there. It was just beautiful, and cool most of the time...so we didn't have to run the Air/Con much at all. When it came time to leave we were a little sad....wishing we had another week just to chill out and not go to meetings. Sometime when you rent something on-line, you really don't know what to expect....but in this case we were very pleased. The Chalet was comfortable, clean, affordable and beautiful! I want to go back when there is no camp-meeting....so I can fully enjoy the beautiful Chalet and all the surrounding areas. The Mt. views were breathtaking.. Thank you Leisa for everything you did to help make it possible for me to rent the Chalet. You are a special person and I will never forget your kindness and helpfulness. Looking forward to another stay in your beautiful Chalet. Thankful, appreciative hugs from Midge.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Our experience was unbelieveable. The cabin was absolutley perfect not to mention gorgeous!! It was a home away from home. Anything you could want was right there, inside the cabin. Only 20 mins from Cherokee, NC and 45 mins from Gatlinburg, TN! The chalet was very clean, organized, very cozy and special. We will be coming back. Hopefully you will have it available for the day after Christmas through the week of New Years. My boyfriend and I will love to be there again! Thank you so much for renting out this very beautiful and unique chalet/cabin. :))))Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: I loved the fact that when you arrived you immediately called me to see if you could stay an additional night. I was glad I was able to accomodate you! I do have the dates available that you are looking for. I will e-mail you directly and send you a lease. Thank you for such a heartfelt review!

My husband and I have rented this chalet twice and would have come back again in April but it was unavailable. We can't say enough about how great our stays have been. The owner has been super to deal with...she always responds very quickly to any request and is so friendly! We always have found it clean and very comfortable. It is very easy to get to...no steep roads to climb, paved access, great parking and very convenient to Maggie Valley, Cherokee and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have four chihuahuas that we like to travel with and the chalet was the ideal spot. We were able to put up a little "fence" using their exercise pens right outside the back door so that we could just let them in and out. They had lots of fun "communicating" with the dogs up the hill! The chalet is very well equipped as advertised. We brought our paper products and things that we thought we would need with us. The kitchen has all of the necessities. In November of 2010 we brought our grandson up for the Polar Express at Thanksgiving and after taking him home, we returned for the rest of the week. The gas fireplace is wonderful...in fact it was sometimes too warm and we had to turn it down, so we were very comfortable in spite of the cold weather( we had a sprinkling of snow). We had scheduled the last week of August last year but with the hurricane threatening us at home, we were afraid to leave. The owner was so nice about it and let us switch weeks, so we were there the first of November 2011 and it was a great stay. Other than our super ziplining experience, we spent a good deal of time just enjoying the chalet. We also enjoy going to the Casino at Cherokee and the chalet is only a short drive over the mountain. We definitely plan on returning. It has been an ideal choice for us and our "babies"! Some of the activities that we would recommend are the Polar Express, ziplining, hiking on the parkway, helicopter ride at Cherokee, LaZoom tour in Asheville if you go that way, Biltmore House and the farmer's market. We love eating at Moose Cafe (farmer's market), Legends, Joey's Pancake House and Paula Deen's.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: I think I felt worse than you when I couldn't accomodate your dates in April. I had donated a week to our church to auction off at a silent auction to raise funds for our youth building. The "winners" of the auction choose the exact week you were looking for, and unfortunately our other Chalet had been previously booked. I so look forward to hearing from you and the four "b's" again and thank you for such a wonderful review!

There is not much that is more charming than your chalet in Maggie Valley. My experience was magical! Not only did I enjoy the beautiful sight-seeing places that are within a short distance...but the early mornings and evenings sitting on the porch watching the colors over the mountains change as the sun rose and set were breathtaking. Leaving the chalet was like leaving home....and I can't wait to book another week!! Thank you~Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: I've heard many descriptions of the Chalet over the years, but I must admit I like the word "enchanting". I strive to make the Chalets an enjoyable experience and furnish and maintain the homes as if I lived in them. Maybe that is why you felt like you were leaving "home" when you left! I look forward to your return.

We had a great time! We arrived to a light dusting of snow and beautiful views. We enjoyed skiing at Cataloochee Ski Resort which is very convenient to the chalet. Our boys also enjoyed the open area to run around and throw football, as well as, the creek that runs nearby. The little time they were inside, they played with the jigsaw puzzles that you keep at the chalet. On Sunday morning, we walked to Church for service and were welcomed by the congregation. The chalet was very nice, clean, and cozy. We had everything we needed. The downstairs bedroom was convenient for my mother who has trouble with stairs. We would definitely recommend this chalet to our friends and family. In fact, we have already booked it for another stay this fall. Leisa has been a pleasure to work with and has answered all questions promptly. Thank You for an enjoyable stay!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Chalet! It really warms my heart when people are able to visit my "little slice of heaven". I look forward to your return in the fall.

The cabin is kind of tacky, worn carpet, no toilet paper, burned out light bulbs, no cleaning supplies (although there are warnings about cleaning the place). The kicker was they deducted $40 from my deposit for a mythical bloodstain they claimed was on one of the sheets. Very disappointing experience. I'm sure there are better, cleaner and more charming places to stay in Maggie Valley that don't rip you off.Owner response: There is a small wear mark in the carpet on the top step. No where else in the home is the carpet worn or damaged. As stated in your lease you are supplied with your first roll of paper products. If a light bulb was burned out, we keep a supply in one of the cabinets or a note for the cleaning people would easily fix it. We don't ask that you clean the Chalet, as that is what the cleaning fee is for, but that you start the first load of towels (which we supply detergent for) and take the trash out before leaving. In the seven years of owning the Chalet I have had to reduce a security deposit two times due to damages, yours being one of them. I'm sorry that you feel you have to discredit my wonderful Chalet, that I had 12 return rentals booked for 2012 before the year even started. I wish you the best.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: Todd and I and our two teenagers live in Melbourne Florida. We purchased the first Chalet for a 'safe place' to run to when these nasty hurricanes come through. But then we fell in love..in love with Maggie Valley. It's wonderful to see those mountains and visit our 'home away from home'. Many years later I still get as excited about going as the day I first saw the place!
Why the Owner Chose Maggie Valley:
We looked at many homes before choosing this one. A lot of the properties in the area require being a billy goat to access them! So many have steep drop offs and the roads aren't paved. This location has a very gradual incline and the road is paved right up to the front door. It was just perfect for our family.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
The large yard with the swing set offers an area to play or relax and enjoy. In the spring and summer it is a great place to throw a frisbee, football, or spread a blanket and enjoy a picnic. In the fall just rake up a huge pile of multi-colored leaves and jump right in. And of course you've got the winter months where you can slide and saucer down the hill.
