This lakefront home is located on the most pristine and beautiful lake in Northern Minnesota. Bluewater Lake, spring-fed, is one of a chain of five lakes offering varied fishing, boating and nature-viewing opportunities. The lake is located approximately 15 miles north of Grand Rapids MN and borders on the Chippewa National Forest. Bluewater is an aqua marine colored lake with depths to 120 feet and is approximately one quarter mile wide and a mile and a half long. The chain of lakes offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take a leisurely day trip to adjacent lakes including the Joyce Estate (now part of the National Forest/Park System) where land barons mingled with the rich and famous of the 1920s and 1930s. Fishing varies from lake trout (in Bluewater Lake and Trout Lake) to walleye (in weedier Wabana Lake). Bass and panfish are throughout. Quiet mornings, still waters, and 20 foot plus water visibility allow unique "bottom watching" opportunities while listening to the haunting call of native loons.

Access to the lake home is over a rustic, wooden bridge that was first built in the early 1900s. You will not forget you stay at this beautiful property.

Summertime central air conditioning and spring/fall central heat are augmented by electric baseboard heat and two fireplaces (one gas, one wood-burning) on the main level.

This lake home is approximately 2400 square feet of living space plus additional 300+ square feet in lanai. There are two levels with a finished walk-out basement offering direct access to Bluewater Lake.

Main level features three bedrooms (one with office/computer) and two baths (one with shower/ other with tub); kitchen and adjacent living room, step-down dining room, and enclosed porch with access to deck and three-season lanai.

Finished basement features one bedroom and one bath (shower), bar, family room, and work room.

Boat ramp on property; alternate public ramp available approximately 1.5 miles distant. Dock and 2 boat lifts (one lift conventional, one lift for pontoons) are available. The thoroughfare from Bluewater Lake to the remaining four lakes in the chain passes under a rustic bridge. Vertical clearance from water level to the underside of the bridge is approximately 52 inches.

NOTE: Jet skis and large motor boats are restricted by Lake Shore Owners Association rules.

  • Lakefront: Approximately 50 feet from the lake. Level/gently sloping shoreline. Gentle drop-off allows wading out to approximately 50 feet and swimming beyond that.

  • Computer: Dated, but allows internet connection. Wireless and ethernet connections available for use with your own computer.

• Suitability
  • Pet Friendly: Prior notice/approval required. Dogs only. Separate pet addendum to rental agreement required. Additional refundable damage deposit of $75.
  • Wheelchair Accessible (may have limitations): Access to main level is possible, but will be very limited to the lake and walkout basement. Lower driveway allows level access to entrance door with slight rise over threshold. Main floor requires a five inch step-down to dining area (adjacent to kitchen) and five inch step down to access lanai. Wheelchairs will need assistance. Three bedrooms/two baths on main level; one bath has a tub, the other a shower. Walkout basement is not accessible as the stairway is steep and narrow. Lake access requires traversing a sloping lawn around the south side of the home.
  • Minimum Age Limit for Renters: Supervising adult/parent 25 years minimum. We will not rent to vacationing students or singles under 25 years of age unless accompanied by an adult guardian or parent.
