If you're looking for an unforgettable vacation experience, a trip to Yosemite National Park fits the bill. Perfect for families, retreats, family reunions or vacations, The Greenwood Lakehouse is designed for relaxation, comfort and convenience.

Yosemite National Park, one of the first wilderness parks in the United States, is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.

Planning your vacation at The Greenwood Lakehouse provides travelers with a comfortable, cozy setting. Plan easy day trips to Yosemite to hike, climb Half Dome, picnic & explore. In the evening, retreat back to your home away from home and roast marshmallows in the outdoor fire pit, dine & explore the Pines Village or simply dangle your feet in the cool water of Bass Lake off our private dock area. Whatever you choose to do, the memories will last a lifetime.

This two-story log sided cabin is nestled between the pines, cedars, and oaks in the beautiful Sierra National Forest, just 15 minutes to the entrance of Yosemite National Park. The rustic log look on the outside is reflected on the inside with the rock fire place, log sided game room and curious wood parquet ceiling in the den that is original to the cabin's 1940's construction. Other updates have been made with an effort to maintain its original feel of a warm and cozy mountain cabin.

Bass Lake is located at the Southern entrance to Yosemite National Park. Our 3500 Foot elevation keeps the temperatures about ten degrees cooler than the Central Valley. Summer time brings lake temperatures between 72 and 80 degrees and Winter time boasts enough snow for local snowmobiling (fifteen minutes away) or the sledding in the surrounding areas.

Our Cabin is located in the Pines Village by Bass Lake. Within a half mile, you will find the conveniences of three restaurants, full service grocery store including a deli, two souvenir shops, a clothing boutique, art gallery and home décor/antique store. Lake side you will discover Jazz on the Lake Friday nights (Summer only) and the marina for all of your lake excursion needs from boat rentals, water skis, jet skis, and wake boards, to fishing boats and fish bait.

Not far from our private heaven is the tourist town of Oakhurst (15 minutes) which has fine dining, shops and theatres. Thirty minutes from Bass Lake is the New Chukchansi Gold Casino. The entrance to Yosemite is only 20 minutes away with Mariposa Grove of Big Trees/Giant Sequoias just inside the gate. Plan a day trip to Yosemite Valley, or get an early start and trek Half Dome. You will also find plenty to do in the Winter with ice skating at Curry Village and snow skiing/boarding at Badger Pass.

Whether you are planning for a Winter get-away, or a splashing time in the Summer, Bass Lake will not disappoint. Bring your family, your friends, and neighbors, this cabin will accommodate all. Build memories that will last a lifetime and start a new tradition, Vacations at Bass Lake.

Yosemite National Park is only 20 minutes away and offers activities for all age groups. Children can become Junior Rangers or Little Cubs and learn about Yosemite and the nature of it's evolution. Bike rides and group tours are available for riders of all ages, as are group tours. Nearly 95 percent of Yosemite National Park is designated Wilderness. Wilderness is a special distinction granted by Congress protecting land from further development. The best way to experience the 1,100 square miles of the Yosemite Wilderness is to explore it first hand. Yosemite has long been a haven for artists and photographers, and many artists have played a role--directly or indirectly--in the promotion and protection of Yosemite. Art classes (donation requested) are offered spring through fall at the Yosemite Art Center in Yosemite Valley. Supplies can also be purchased there. All people hiking to the top of Half Dome when the cables are up must have a permit. (The cables are usually up from the Friday before Memorial Day through Columbus Day, conditions permitting.) There are also loads of things to enjoy in The Pines Village & Bass Lake. The Farmers Market (every Wednesday throughout the season) is open and hosts an abundance of fresh fruits, veggies and locally crafted items. See one of the most amazing fireworks show you've ever witnessed as the celebration lights up the skies over and waters of beautiful Bass Lake. All in all, we are excited to share this beautiful & magical piece of the world with you! ...morecollapse

This is my first written review on VRBO after using the site and renting properties for many vacations. The only reason I was motivated to comment on my vacation this time around (first stay @ Bass Lake) was because of the excellent service/commitment by the property owners to ensure that my group had a wonderful experience. From the timely responses to my questions/concerns to activity recommendations on where to find snow for sledding in 66 degree temperatures; the customer service exhibited by the property owner was nothing short of 5 stars. And not to forget, the cabin was perfect. The property was exactly as detailed on VRBO, and perfect for the 3 families (w/ kids) that stayed inside. I am sure Bass Lake has many properties that are beautiful and would be perfect for a family vacation. But if your group is traveling to Bass Lake for your get away, you can rest assure that the Greenwood property will go above and beyond to make sure that your experience is memorable.

We hosted our annual basketball team reunion at this lovely Bass Lake cabin in June 2012. The property is located about a half mile from the town (restaurants, bars, grocery stores, boat rentals, etc) and about a tenth of a mile from the shared dock (it is not right on the lake). The place comfortably slept about 12 of us with plenty of room to spare. The main floor has two living rooms (one with couches and a TV, another with a 16+ person dining room table and a pool table), a large kitchen, a nice patio / BBQ area and two separate bedrooms. The upstairs has another bedroom with room for four and a bunk bed room with a separate bathroom. We spent most of our time at the cabin or on the shared dock. We cooked all of our meals at the property and used the BBQs out back. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of cooking essentials (oil, condiments, spices, butter, etc). I recommend shopping in Oakhurst if you plan to buy more than a few things. Bass Lake does have a grocery store that also sells liquor but it is 30-50% more expensive than Safeway, Vons, etc. We also rented a boat one of the days (approx $500 for 10 hours) from the main area and had a blast cruising around the lake. The local bar had drink specials on Friday and Saturday nights as well as a live band. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely consider revisiting Bass Lake and staying at this wonderful cabin. The property owners were very accommodating and professional.

Owner response: Hello & thank you so, so much for this wonderful & detailed review! It makes us so happy to read that you were able to just relax, cook, chat and enjoy beautiful Bass Lake during your time at The Greenwood Lakehouse. Thanks also for mentioning the area shopping and grocery stores. While the Pines Village is an easy walk from The Greenwood Lakehouse, the town of Oakhurst is an easy drive and offers additional shopping, dining and entertainment options. For more information on upcoming events, please visit our blog or Facebook page. We feel very lucky to be able to live in such a picturesque part of California and we are always so happy to be able to share this special place with others. We also appreciate you taking the time to offer such a wonderful review, as well as keeping us in mind for your next reunion or visit to our area. Wishing you the very best & until next time, Julie The Greenwood Lakehouse

All the family enjoyed their stay there at the Bass Lake Cabin. The house was well kept and a well equipped kitchen that helped in feeding our 5 family group. We enjoyed the sites in the area. We made everlasting memories of our trip to Yosemite National Park. Julie was great to work with in regards to the reservations. Highly recommend this facility for any future trips.

What a wonderful home and area to spend a family vacation at! This was our first time renting a vacation home and the whole process from beginning to end was positive – this was because of the owner, Julie. She promptly answered my emails about the place and surrounding areas, along with suggestions. This home is spacious and comfortable. We were able to get together with our children and grandchildren (a total of 5 families – 9 adults and 4 young children) and stay in a great home with lots of space. It was clean and well maintained inside and outside, all items in kitchen were plenty for big groups, pictures accurately described the place. We enjoyed all the room, the availability to cook, the backyard area with BBQ, the game room (pool games ongoing all weekend), boat dock, easy walk to the lake or the store, and the fireworks on the lake were an added plus! We would definitely recommend this home to anyone visiting Bass Lake and the surrounding area. What a great place to spend time with our family! Thank you Julie for making our first time renting a vacation home, definitely not our last!

First let me start by saying the owner of the property is the BEST. She was so kind and generous to our team. Julie was amazing our bus got suck while we were trying to find the house. We called Julie for help. She and a friend came right away. We were easy to find since we got our bus stuck in some sand as the driver tried to turn the bus around because we missed our turn. While the bus was stuck Julie and a friend transported all of us with luggage to the house and then she went and got us food and ice cream for our late night snack. She did not have to do any of this, but she did. This just goes to show you how much care she takes for the renters of her property. There were 23 of us staying in the house and we all had a place to sleep. The house was an ideal location for relaxation and fun. The pictures on the web are exactly what you get. A very nice well kept property. The area was quite and for fun we even went to the lake at the lodge and rented jet skies. We only stayed the night but we could have spent more time there. We would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay. Breakfast at the lodge was good and the price fit into our budget. They even have some breakfast specials. Just remember that a 48 passenger bus cannot drive down to the house nor should you drive it off the road in order to turn around. Beware you just might get stuck. But if in case you do, Julie is there to the rescue. Thanks for a great experience Oregon Volleyball.

A group of us stayed in the cabin for 2 nights the end of May, 2010 and had a blast! This cabin has so much personality and Ron and Julie have gone the extra mile to make it unique and comfortable. This cabin has everything you could ever need and the location is perfect. We loved the game room and the patio out in back. The front porch is perfect for drinking coffee in the morning and enjoying the fresh mountain air. I highly recommend staying at the Greenwood Cabin! We are looking forward to bringing family up here for a reunion in the future.

Julie's house is a wonderful place to stay for a large family or group gathering. It is very spacious and has most of the things you will need, along with a backyard grill and pool table. Throughout the whole process, Julie was very good at communicating with me all the questions I had and forwarding me all the information I would need for my stay. I would give my stay at this home a 10/10, and look forward to staying at this cabin in the near future. You can't go wrong if you're in the Bass Lake/Yosemite area!

My family and friends stayed in this cabin for my son's wedding. We had the BEST time! The cabin was just perfect for us, the game room and backyard areas were our favorites. The large table in the game room was so great for playing games with a large amount of people. The back patio was so great for gathering and enjoying the fresh air. The cabin was well equipped with anything we could possibly need. The owner of this cabin was so accommodating and quick to answer inquiries as well as to provide help in the way of contacts for my son's wedding, she was awesome! All of us had the best time and quite a few want to book the cabin themselves for the future. Thank you for a great experience!

Stayed here for Labor Day weekend. The house is amazing and we had a ton of fun. There are a lot of sleeping areas, the game room is a wonderful place for tons of entertainment, and even the outside patio was a great place to have a BBQ dinner. The location was extremely convenient with a grocery store down the street and it only took us an hour to reach Curry Village in Yosemite. Also, the area is residential which was very welcoming and comfortable. The house has heat and A/C and a ton of dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc are available for usage. A home away from home!

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2004

About the owner: Hi, We're the Greenwoods. We grew up here in the Oakhurst/Bass Lake area. Both graduated from Yosemite High School. We left the area, but returned to raise our 3 children here. We love the mountains and Bass Lake. It is a little slice of heaven for us. No matter what you want to do...it's here.

Why the Owner Chose Bass Lake:
Bass Lake is AWESOME!!!Whether you are young or just young at heart there is so much to do here. Walk, swim, hike, the Market is close, there is bakery for your donut/cinnamon roll craving, boating, fishing, jetskiing, kayaking, floating, great restaurants and shops. It's all here. You can relax in the mountains without having to go camping and 'rough it'.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
There are 2 floors, a front living/den area and a back game room, not to mention the front deck and back patio. You will not run out of areas to sit and relax, enjoy a quiet conversation, take a nap, eat a meal as a large group. This place accommodates all. New sofas/ sofabeds were just delivered!! Enjoy!
