Enjoy million-dollar views of the Rocky Mountains and listen to the soothing sounds of Bear Creek from your very private deck. This comfortable and charming family-friendly home is just a five minute walk into the Heart of Evergreen - in fact you can look out your windows and see what's happening on Main Street!
Your Mountain Home is a traditional Colorado cabin that has been lovingly expanded and updated over the last 50+ years. In fact, it is the only rental property adorned with hand-carved doors, panels and even a totem pole! It is a sunny and spacious home perched on the side of a mountain. While close to the village, you have the sense of privacy that usually comes with far more isolated locations. Comfortable surroundings, privacy, great views, great location - what else do you need?
All furniture, linens and kitchen equipment were purchased new in August of 2007, with the exception of a few antique pieces. Everything has been chosen to provide you with a comfortable and serene vacation experience. The towels are thirsty, the sheets are silky and the blankets are warm. The magnifying make-up mirror is strategically mounted near the sink in the upstairs bathroom.
The well-equipped kitchen has place settings for 12, plastic plates and cups for kids and plenty of pots and pans. Decent cooking knives are in a drawer along with other gadgets that you may need. Wine, martini and champagne glasses are in the bar, along with a cork screw and bottle opener. Basic spices and cooking oils are stored in a cabinet, along with trash bags, paper towels, plates and napkins. Dishwashing soap and dishwasher detergent are also provided. The Laundry Area is off the kitchen, and supplies are provided here as well.
The Bunk Room has two comfortable bunk beds covered by quilts with deer and ducks on them. It is next to the upstairs bathroom and has a roomy closet. The portable crib, sheets and blankets for the crib and the high chair are stored in the closet.
The well-stocked linen closet has spare sheets, extra blankets and lots of towels. The hot tub towels are stacked on living room shelves right next to the sliding door to the deck. Warm and cozy throws are perfect for wrapping yourself in while reading or watching TV, and are kept in the upper and lower living rooms.
Because the house is on the side of a mountain, the lower level is sunny and airy too. The X-Box lives in the spacious Lower Living Room so adults can enjoy relative quiet upstairs. There are lots of toys here, and a queen sized sleeper sofa. The large Lower Bedroom has a queen bed, and lots of closet space. There is a full bathroom here, and it has a raised tub and a separate shower. It was renovated in August of 2007.
We hope that you will enjoy looking at the art we have selected, especially the whimsical animal prints by Boulder artist and children's book illustrator Harriet Peck Taylor. There are prints of Evergreen and animal sculptures too.
While there are all the amenities you need - televisions, cable, X-Box, DVD's, wireless computer hook-up, you'll probably be too tired to spend much time using them! There's too much to do!
In winter, skiing is all around - check out Echo Mountain Park and Loveland (they are so close!) Winter Park and Vail are about an hour away. In summer, there is hiking, boating, free concerts and great summer camp for kids (check out the Evergreen Recreation website.) Fly fishing is a 3 minute walk from the house. There is even a hot tub right on the deck to soothe your overworked muscles in complete privacy.
If you like to gamble, casinos in Black Hawk and Central City are a short drive away. Do you like music? The famous Little Bear, visible from your deck, is a piece of music history. Red Rocks Ampitheatre is a 15 minute drive. Galleries abound in Evergreen, and world-class shopping at Cherry Creek is just an hour away. How about bargains? Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue have clearance centers 20 minutes away at the Colorado Mills Shopping Center. Join the locals for lunch at the Blue Spruce Market, and enjoy the world's best burgers on Thursdays.
There is ALWAYS wildlife to enjoy. You haven't really lived until you have seen 100+ head of elk daintily pick their way across the street. A curious mule deer had its nose pressed to a window in July, checking out the activity inside and delighting our entire family. In August, several elk were feasting on the lilac bushes next to the front door - I was so entranced that I let them finish their supper, probably damaging the lilac! (See the first photo above.)
If you are more into pampering, there are fabulous spa and salons galore! Like to eat - great restaurants abound. Creekside, the local winery, produces wonderful wines and an has Italian inspired lunch menu. Black Hat in nearby Kitteridge has amazing steaks and a Huckleberry Dressing that will knock your socks off! The Bistro is the perfect place for a romantic dinner. Walk to Beau Jo's pizza and salad buffet for easy family dining. Check out the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce for more information about local attractions.
Your Mountain Home is private, yet accessible. It is located on a county paved and maintained road, making it easy to find and access. As the saying goes, you feel close to everything but next to nothing.
Please contact us with any questions you may have about the property, rates, amenities, or local attractions. We will answer them promptly. We can even email you a link to Snapfish. com, where there are even more photos of Your Mountain Home. Hope to hear from you soon!
