This unique Alaskan home was built with comfort, practicality, and the Alaskan experience in mind. Hand hewn Spruce logs serve as the railings for the expansive decks that grace the entry to front door. As you walk in through the Arctic entry, you are delighted to find the entire interior of the home decorated with reminders of where you actually are, the last frontier, Alaska. The wallpaper, the log beds, the rustic stone hearth and wood stove, the light fixtures, and furniture all bring you into the mood as you settle in to enjoy your stay in this very special destination house.
You will find all the amenities that you are used to there for your use as well. During construction special care was taken to preserve the integrity of the outdoors. The five acre parcel is graced with quaking Aspen, Birch, and Spruce with lush green lawns on three side of the house. Views of the Talkeetna Mtns. With Government Peak, and Archangel Valley make the setting quite delightful. Moose, wild rabbits, fox and the occasional bear also remind you of where you are.
Reed Lake is stones throw away and so is the Little Susitna River. The Independence Mine and Hatcher Pass are less than 10 minutes away by car and the views from Hatcher Pass are truly phenomenal. There is plenty of room for motor homes or trailers to park, and is perfectly situated for trips to the Kenai or to Denali. Great coffee can be had in the friendly and quaint towns of Palmer or Wasilla. Our home will definitely offer you and your family a wonderful Alaskan experience.
This property has two units, the two story upstairs and the bears lair daylight basement.

We called this home for one week this summer and it was simply perfect! From the way the house is set up, to the toys, to the huge yard, it was just perfect for what we needed. It is a beautiful, secluded home and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you so much for a wonderful place to stay!Recommended for: Families with young children.

My husband and I and our adult children gathered from all around the country in Wasilla to attend the Alaska State Fair and explore the area. This house was the perfect retreat after long days of fun and adventure! All of the rooms are beautifully furnished and very cozy. The yard is nice and private - we saw a cow moose and her two calves at the end of the driveway one morning. We drove up to Talkeetna one day by way of the Hatcher Pass - spectacular views! We all agreed that we would stay here again if we have the opportunity.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We stayed here for a month while my husband was working in Alaska. This house was wonderful and felt like home. The house and yard are even more beautiful in person. We loved the huge front yard and the privacy the location offered. Everything about it was great! The master bed was really comfortable, the kitchen was beautiful and had everything we needed (even had a crock pot!), and we really enjoyed having the two living areas. We travel a lot for work and stay in vacation rentals often and must say that this was probably my favorite of them all. I am hoping we have another opportunity in the future to come back! The only recommendation I have for the place would be to get some new pots/pans. The ones they had worked fine but newer ones would be nice as they were pretty scratched up.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

The home of the Christianson's is a perfect get away. I speak as a neighbor who loves to visit their home when friends (or they) are staying there. My kids got to stay there this winter with their godmother and had such a wonderful time watching a movie on the huge TV. It feels cozy even with out the wood stove going. Their landscaping is beautiful, the craftsmanship on the house gorgeous and the custom "rustic" cabinets and modern kitchen is impressive. This is really a picture perfect home built by a perfectionist. They have included the nice amenities as well as they like to visit this home with their family. They even have a fun basket of toys my kids always like to play with. Sometimes I wish I had a reason to rent it myself even though I only live a 1/4 mile away. Thank you for building such a beautiful home in our neighborhood so that our friends and relatives would have such a beautiful place to stay.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We just returned home from a 2 week Alaskan vacation in which we stayed 5 nights in this beautiful property...at the moment we arrived we knew we had made a great choice...I can't begin to describe our stay...a few things that stand out are the fact that this property doesn't look like a rental property, it is finished and furnished as a HOME...all the fixtures and appliances are great quality and new...the decks were great as we spent many hours outside watching the Moose and Snowshoe hares...one evening we had a bull moose within feet of the deck eating and chasing the hares...the house is in a great location for making day trips we went to Hatchers Pass, Girdwood, Denali, Matanuska Glacier, and Anchorage...all within a few hours drive...Thank you so much for making this portion of our vacation one we will never forget.Did you find this review helpful?
