The Perfect Beach Getaway

This home provided my family of 6 with the perfect Labor Day Weekend Beach Getaway. The home sits directly on the beach and the breeze on the decks allows this to be a comfortable outdoor gathering place all day long. The home is in great condition and the two living rooms allowed the kids to watch Disney Channel while the adults could watch something more age appropriate upstairs. The dolphins came so close to our children that my boys were hoping they could touch one. We had over 4 schools of dolphins in front of the home each afternoon. We couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable, more relaxing weekend! Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with our family!

An absolutely beautiful home with incredible water views!

My family of 8 met my parents there for a fantastic week at the beach. The home has an incredible location right on the beach with the most amazing panoramic views of the ocean that you can imagine. The home was clean, nicely furnished and offered plenty of space for the 10 of us. The Harbor Island community is lovely, and we really enjoyed walking around and seeing the wildlife (turtles, gators, birds) from the viewing areas. The main pool was being refurbished while we were there, so we were directed to use one of the smaller pools (normally reserved for condo guests only) instead, which was fine. My only complaint would be that the no-see-ums (teeny tiny bugs) were out in full force during our visit- which meant no early morning or late night walks on the beach. During the day with the sun out and a nice breeze, they were not a problem. I would highly recommend this home, and we certainly plan on staying here again!

Wonderful Vacation at a Great Vacation Home

My family of two seniors, five adults and one toddler stayed at this four bedroom beachfront property the week of August 14-21. As advertised, the ocean view is fantastic from almost every room in the house. Everyone had a great time - swimming in the ocean and pool, playing tennis, kayaking, riding bikes and just sitting on the expansive decks reading, watching the shrimp boats and dolphins and socializing. We ate-in most nights. Two chefs in the group said the kitchen was functional. The dining area affords incredible sunset views. Issues mentioned in a previous review had been addressed, and it was a very comfortable stay. We would rent here again.

Great View, however

The view is great. The location is nice. You can watch the dolphins all day chase the fishing boats. The rooms are comfortable. The large kitchen table in front of the windows was nice. This was our third house to visit in Harbor and our least favorite. However, the tv on 1st floor doesn't work and from the guest book this has been the case for 7 years. When you have 7 people that tv would have been useful especially as a game tv for the kids. Masterbedroom blinds must be closed by hand one slat at a time and they are not clean. No curtains on the front windows, which was ok, but there is no curtain on the main floor bathroom window. That's not ok as it faces the second row house's large den window. Trash bag and duct tape were used. Masterbath, the shower fits like a glove. If you have a BMI higher than 30 you will want go downstairs. Found several mouse traps in the bedroom and kitchen closets. Caught a mouse the 3rd morning in the kitchen closet on the trap pad. Freezer makes 10-12 cubes a day. That wont do for a house of 6 or more. The freezer only freezes on high(7). Any lower settings and your ice cream becomes milk. The deck steps going to the left slant forward. You will feel like you are going head first if you aren't paying attention. The base at the bottom of the right steps have 6 slats. The middle four give and you will think you are about to fall through. The steps to the front door, the first step in and the one leading from the platform, are half the normal width. I almost fell coming down the first time. I had to walk sideways getting out the door and from the platform to the ground. Yes it's advertised as no WIFI, but come on it's 2010. You can go to the beach house, but that's annoying. We have an iPhone, but searching for restaurants is better on a real screen.

During the summmer months when there are guests staying with us evry week sometimes it is dfiffcult to keep up, especialy if you have a particularly dirty or destructive guest. We had one of those and were caught a bit by surpise. We took care of these issues as soon as we found out. Again, thanks for letting us know.

We loved this house! The house is bachfront with beautiful views. The hosue is located in the gated community of Harbor Island which is quite lovely. With you gate passes you also have acess to the community tennis courts, pool and playground. My family will definantly be planning a return trip!
