Quiet, relaxing location, away from the madding crowds.picturesque setting with plenty of therapy dogs. So much better than standard condo rental.

This place is great!!! My (expecting) wife and I were able to spend a week out here at this cabin. The owners are awesome to say the least! The cabin was just perfect, it's location and layout was just what fit us best. I would come here everytime I came to the Durango area!

Just spent Labor Day weekend at the guest house and have to say it was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The scenery is breathtaking, the accomodations clean and welcoming, the dogs a joy, and the hosts very kind and unobtrusive. We are already talking about going back.

We spent 3 nights at the ranch and wish we could have stayed 3 weeks. We stayed in the loft above the barn which was perfect for the 3 of us. The property was off the beaten path, beautifully maintained and blessed with stunning, picture perfect mountains views. If you're looking for the jet set, go somewhere else. If you're looking for maximum serenity with almost unlimited outdoor activity available (biking, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, rafting), you'll love this spot. And if you get the urge for a little shopping or night life, Durango is a quick drive away. Pride of ownership was evident everywhere. Francie and James were informative, available and welcoming without being obtrusive or pushy. We'd stay again in a minute and recommend it to anyone looking for real, un - glitzy comfort amid the mountains. And our Pug was welcome too!

We stayed 4 nights in the Guest House last month and it was absolutely great! The short drive in to town was well worth the stay at the cabin. We enjoyed taking pictures on the ranch and being able to see all the deer, etc. The hot tub was great in the evenings under the stars. My family thoroughly enjoyed it. The dog visits were great each morning and evening. We enjoyed giving them their doggie biscuits that they looked forward to each day. They were such sweet, well behaved dogs. Sure would love to come back some time and I'm thinking we will do just that. Thanks for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!!

Staying here was the highlight of our trip. The cabin was clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. My kids loved visiting the horses and having the dogs visit us. We enjoyed seeing the deer walk through the pastures. It was nice to relax on the deck after a full day of sight seeing. My only complaint is that we didn't stay longer!

My husband and I stayed here for our 20th anniversary. The cabin was really nice. The photos do not do it justice. We really didn't miss the cable TV. There was so much to do. It was nice spending the evenings in the hot tub and relaxing. I would recommend the Durango train to Silverton ( in the Silver Vista car), Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, and driving the Silver loop. The cabin was well appointed, and I would love to stay here again. Francie was so nice to work with. We also loved the dogs.

My husband & I just returned from a CO/NM vacation and spent 3 nights in Francie's guest cabin on her ranch. The scenery is awesome, especially if you are a photographer as I am. We watched an evening thunderstorm across the plains and I was able to get an image of a lightning strike and on one morning were greeted with a beautiful rainbow. We watched a group of mule deer feed across the ridge in the back of the cabin and I was able to capture some images of nice bucks. I was able to get some shots of the horses in the fields. Francie's flower/vegetable garden provide beautiful shots of the plants and attracts hummingbirds (and yielded some very tasty lettuce and yellow squash! ) You can see various mountain ridges from the house and around the property and the black and tan hounds love to visit with you and have their picture taken. We didn't use the hot tub while we there, but it was sparkling clean and would be a great spot to relax after a long day. The accommodations were very clean and everything we needed was there. If you are hooked on tv, radio, telephone or internet access you will find there is definitely a great life without these items here on the ranch. The weather in SC this time of year is hot and humid, so the cool nights and less humid days of the Durango area were a welcome relief. Even though the guest house is "off the beaten path" it is very convenient to Durango and is a great base for day trips (Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge RR, Mesa Verde, etc.). As far as price comparison you cannot beat this versus a hotel room or suite for all you get.

We used HD Ranch and the great guesthouse as home base for a trip to the Durango area. The entire experience at HD Ranch was more than what we expected. Our days started sitting on the porch watching deer graze while I scratched the ears of at least one dog (sometimes 3) who came down to the house each morning to see if we wanted company. Our boys slept in the loft and it was hard to pry them out of bed in the morning because the fresh, cool night air put them in a coma. Our days ended sitting in the hot tub watching the stars. The Durango area was cool but I could have spent entire days hanging out watching the horses and playing with the dogs. By the way, Francie makes you feel as if you are a part of the ranch and not some forgotten guest tucked away in the trees. If you need anything or advice on what to do she is there fore you.

My boyfriend and his two brothers and I were lucky enough to stay at Francie's guesthouse memorial day weekend, and we all had the time of our lives! Not only was it perfect for the four of us to get away and have a fun time in Durango, but our dog had a fantastic vacation too! For those who cant find a hotel room that allows your pet, or if your pet isnt comfortable staying in a small hotel room, this place is beyond perfect. The scenery was amazing and Francie was a fantastic host. We will definently be going back to HD ranch!

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful location for 4 days which was certainly not enough. We loved it! Most evening we relaxed in the already heated hot tub. It is surrounded by mountains and is very secluded and yet only 25 minutes away from Durango. The inside of the house is neatly decorated with a western feel to it.

During our Colorado vacation this summer we stayed at some really awesome places and this was no exception.. It was the perfect relaxing, secluded ending to our trip. We fell in love with the Guest House and the loveable dogs that live on the ranch. Only problem was our 2 night stay was not long enough. Don't think twice about this place...It's perfect.

What a fabulous retreat! Don't hesitate to stay here versus a hotel in Durango. We spent a wonderful week here with our two young boys in the summer. The kids loved the loft, roaming around 100 acres, and playing with their dogs. There was easy access to hiking, biking, white water rafting and fishing. You can take a scenic drive or train from Durango to Silverton via Purgatory. Lazy days hanging around on the ranch, reading or enjoying the hot tub under the stars. This ranch is private and relaxing with five star amenties.

I can't tell you how impressed we were with this ranch home. It is secluded, peaceful and beautiful. For anyone wanting to get away from the traffic and crowds of the toursit areas, this is a great option. I only wished we had more time here. We are sure to return some time!

Our family was privileged to stay at the HD Ranch in June 2009 for 3 wonderful nights. The views of the mountains and surrounding areas were spectacular. It was also such a treat to come in everyday with the views of the horses and abundant deer. The cabin was very cozy with beautiful furnishings and the best part was star gazing from the hot tub off the deck. We would highly recommend the HD Ranch and hope to visit there again in the future.

This is just a wonderful lovely place to spend a few days. My wife and I spent two nights here during our honeymoon. We very much enjoyed the tranquility and sense of calm. The housing was great and the owners were very pleasant. The hot tub was perfect for the colder evenings (~50 degrees). We would most definitely return and spend more than two nights. The dogs and horses were a treat!

Our 3 day stay wasn't long enough! We've stayed in many vacation homes, in many countries, over many years, and this is the best - superb setting, comfortable, well-equipped, AND the hot tub beneath the stars is unbeatable. Highly recommended.
