Excellent Place to Stay

Guest: JB (Gainesville, Florida)
Date of Stay: 05/09/12 Review Submitted: 05/15/12

We thoroughly enjoyed our five day stay at the house. It was very accomodating and provided for everything that we needed. The place was neat and clean and was very well maintained. The pictures and the description of the property were accurately described. The house was convenient to downtown Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. We would definitely recommend a visit to the Biltmore and also a meal at the Grove Park Inn. The patio restaurant provides an outstanding view of the surrounding area and, although pricey, is worth the cost.

Warm and welcoming home

Guest: Kirsten C (Jersey City, NJ)
Date of Stay: 05/04/12 Review Submitted: 05/09/12

We recently stayed in this lovely, airy home that is located in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Asheville. The house is spacious, perfectly maintained, and has all the amenities one needs. It was so comfortable - especially the beds! - that we ended up spending more time relaxing on the deck or in front of the fireplace than we'd planned to. The bedrooms are laid out very nicely - two spacious bedrooms on the main floor with a shared bath, and one gorgeous master bedroom on the top floor with a private bath. The house is within walking distance of the Grove Park Inn. It's located in a hilly area, so walking might be a little strenuous for some (but it's also a great workout!). The house is also very close to town and any grocery stores, Starbucks, etc. so it's easy to run out and grab any necessities for your stay. Joanne and William were incredibly responsive during the entire booking process and throughout our stay. They made the entire vacation easy to coordinate. We had a terrific time, and highly recommend this wonderful house to anyone looking to spend a quiet, relaxing break in one of the most beautiful cities in the country.

After Christmas 2011

Guest: JTV273 (Eastman)
Date of Stay: 12/27/11 Review Submitted: 01/08/12

The property was very accurately described, was clean neat and well stocked. We had a light dusting of snow the first night and the view was great. The owner responded promptly to my questions and concerns. The fireplace is great but you will need to provide your own wood. We visited the Biltmore House but this is a very busy season so get your tickets and tour times early.

Lovely Holiday Getaway

Guest: AKLover (Florida)
Date of Stay: 12/22/11 Review Submitted: 12/29/11

We spent the Christmas holiday at this lovely house, which is right in town but nicely secluded and quiet. Everything was as described, and the photos are completely accurate. The property was very clean, had very nice furnishings and plenty of room for the five of us. Although we didn't cook at the house, the kitchen appeared to be adequate for light cooking. All in all, it was a very nice experience, and I would recommed this property to a friend without hesitation. Just be careful of your GPS when returning from downtown Asheville. We had two units, and both of them consistently tried to take us around the backside of the mountain, up, over and back down!

Best Friends Fall Retreat

Guest: Best Friends Retreat ( Ft. Lauderdale, FL )
Date of Stay: 10/21/11 Review Submitted: 10/29/11

We had a fabulous time. The house is awesome--clean, comfy and cozy-- the weather and fall colors were spectacular. We enjoyed the city and stopping at Tupelo Honey Cafe (best veggies) and wandering around the area; we took two drives--one which circled the house (the house truly is in the center of things), the other to Hot Springs, just to see fall, which for Florida girls was a real treat; we were celebrating birthdays, 30+ years of friendships and fall. We hit a local Orchard and strolled around Black Mountain (the owner of the wine store is a great tour guide and Veranda Cafe-Hungarian mushroom soup a must ) Our capstone event was dinner at the Sunset Terrace at the Grove Park Inn. Watching the sun set on the fall and mountain was befitting of our last night. We could not have asked for more.

Guest: Joan from Florida (Venice, Fl.)
Date of Stay: 09/01/11 Review Submitted: 09/13/11

Last year I spent 2 weeks here and enjoyed it so much that I booked 3 weeks this year. You cannot beat the location as it is minutes from the center of town but in the most beautiful area of Asheville. If you do not believe me just check with the famous Grove Park Inn which is within walking distance. The house is spacious and well appointed set high in the hills with mountain views. The owner has provided everything that you will need to feel at home yet pampered. Not to be missed.

Great mountain air and lots of room

Guest: goforjoy (Philadelphia)
Date of Stay: 07/04/11 Review Submitted: 07/13/11

We had a family vacation at this convenient, airy home right near town. We turned off the AC and had lovely mountain breezes to enjoy. The great room was large and open, with wood floors so we decided to move out the chairs (to a smaller cozier TV space) and use the big room for yoga, tai chi and dancing. A sun porch area was a perfect place to set up a massage table and meditate. We had a great week!

A wonderful home in a wonderful neighborhood. Spacious, beautifully maintained, and something for everyone. Loved the proximity to restaurants, shops, kids' park, nature trails--and only a short drive to the heart of downtown. Great floorplan for together time as well as privacy. Terrific book and movie selections, fun game room, wonderful fireplace, and great views from the deck. Backyard was a great exploring adventure for the kids. Enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and seeing the wild turkeys and all of the friendly neighbors and people out and about--jogging, walking their dogs, enjoying the wonderful weather we had. We felt comfortable and right at home in this neighborhood and this house--very warm and welcoming. The owner is professional, responsive, and friendly. Would recommend this house to anyone!

What a wonderful three weeks we had enjoying this lovely home. It is very spacious and yet so cozy. The location is very convenient to down town and walking distance to the Grove Park Inn. The mountain view and the feeling of living in the trees was awesome. We also rented an apartment right in the heart of Asheville which was enjoyable but did not compare to the peace, serenity and convenience ot this house. I definitely plan on returning next year.

We loved staying in this house for our July trip to Asheville. It was quick and easy to get to all the things we had planned... but quiet and secluded once we got back to the house. The place was spotless and well equiped... and everything the listing said it to be. As rental property owners ourselves, we can appreciate how much time and attention it takes to make a rental property so comfortable and inviting. The owners were great to work with. We will definitely book this home for future trips.

Nice, Clean Rental Home in Asheville

Guest: Kathryn (Chapel Hill, NC)
Date of Stay: 07/10/10 Review Submitted: 07/19/10

My husband, two children and my parents stayed at this rental home for a week in the summer. The home was very clean and quite suitable for sleeping 6 people. We found the home nicely decorated, very quiet, spacious and in close proximity for all of the places we visited in the Asheville area. The driveway is fairly steep, which took some getting used to, and there was no yard to play in, but the air hockey/pool table kept the kids happy and busy. The owner was very professional and easy to communicate with and the neighborhood is beautiful and wooded, great for walking if you like hills. Overall, we found the home spacious with plenty of room for family members to be together while also having some privacy on each level. The master bath jacuzzi was wonderful as well. The only reason we rated the home 4 stars instead of 5 was because the beds, especially the master bed, were extremely hard. This is something that could easily be remedied with a cushion mattress topper. Also, the kitchen had minimal bowls and mugs-we ended up needing to buy a few to have enough for 6 of us to eat breakfast together. Otherwise, this is a nice, large sized rental in a very pretty neighborhood.

Nicely furnished home near the Grove Park Inn and minutes to downtown Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway. Owner provides easy to use instructions and suggestions for nearby restaurants and attractions. Beautiful views from front deck and relaxing screened porch. Nice neighborhood for walking. Plenty of room for family or group of friends. Very clean with spa-like master bath.

Larger than Expected- Great if you are looking for space for 6 to stretch out.

Guest: From Cincinnati (Cincinnati)
Date of Stay: 05/21/10 Review Submitted: 05/26/10

The home was larger than we expected and very clean on the inside upon arrival. Although the children, ages 8,10,11 thoroughly enjoyed the pool/air hockey table downstairs, there was no place for them to play/explore outdoors and we weren't really close enough to town to walk to anything of interest to them. Consequently, we didn't spend much time at the house. This was not our plan initially but it worked out fine and we had an enjoyable weekend. Because of the ages of the children, it was probably not the best fit for us but I would still recommend this rental.

Owner response:Nice to hear you had a good vacation in Asheville. My teenage girls love the pool / air hockey table too. They like to walk to the Grove Park Inn to see the pictures of all the Presidents who have stayed in our neighborhood as well as the elevator hidden behind the giant fireplace. The books, games, toys, balls, and computer are all there for the enjoyment of the entire family.

Guest: Dalyn (Bowling Green, KY)
Date of Stay: 04/20/10 Review Submitted: 04/27/10

On a recent trip to the Asheville area for sight seeing we were so happy to spend time in this great, home in a pretty neighborhood! We had lots of room and all the comforts anyone could need . It was nice to spend time with each other relaxing without running down the hall of some motel/hotel to each others room. The location was perfect for us and was everything as listed not to mention--very reasonably priced. We were able to access all of the sights on our list without driving too far. It was great to get up and start our day with a leisurely breakfast and return to our retreat after a day of sight seeing to relax with a glass of wine before going out for dinner. The kitchen is well stocked if one would want to cook in. We will look forward to returning and staying again on the mountain top and will recommend it to our friends! (Biltmore and Village, Grove Arcade and downtown shopping, Chimmney Rock and brunch at Grove Park Inn)

My husband and I and our three children had a wonderful time last weekend staying in your very spacious and relaxing home, such a great place for both togetherness and privacy. Perfect. We especially enjoyed spending time on that nice big deck just off the kitchen. It was a vacation just being in your home, but so nice to be very convenient to sights in Asheville, not to mention the Grove Park Inn. Our grandchild enjoyed visiting Jones Park. Despite being in the midst of civilization, I enjoyed seeing some interesting wildlife. As I drove around in my car early one morning, I spotted a bear, a flock of wild turkeys, and then another bear! We'd love to come back again for another visit. Also we enjoyed the nice tv's, the computer, the fine master bathroom, and looking at the high rocky fireplace in the heart of your home.

Thank you so much. We enjoyed your house very much. It was in such a great setting and had everything we needed. Loved being close to town, too! I wanted to add that it is really nice that you have a few snacks there as well. We got into town with very little time before the wedding we were attending, and a small snack was a welcome sight. This is our 5th VRBO rental and we have yet to be disappointed. Thanks again, Jill
