Don't be fooled! Being 'in town' is the best way to enjoy the town of Salida. This house is within easy walking distance to all of the wonderful restaurants, shops, and galleries that Salida has to offer. Park the car, and enjoy the town. Whether you like shopping, sipping coffee, enjoying a tasty meal, floating in the river, soaking in a hot spring, walking, or hiking; Salida has something for everyone. Don't get stuck in the mountains! After a hard day of skiing, drive to town, park the car, and enjoy the 'apres ski' and banana belt warmth which only Salida has to offer.
The snow is great at Monarch! We just spent the Christmas break in Salida with family. The drive to Monarch is easy, just 25 minutes. And, after a hard day of skiing there’s nothing like just parking the car and walking to a downtown restaurant. Or, if you prefer, the kitchen is fully equipped, so it’s easy to prepare meals at home. We enjoyed many fine meals in our spacious dining room with the tin ceiling. We also spent a day soaking at the Mt. Princeton hot springs in between days of skiing to relax those aching bones. High speed internet access is provided at the house, so it’s easy to order discount ski tickets online using the Monarch website. All of our electronic devices (iPad, laptop, Xbox) worked just fine. The high definition TV set was great for watching movies with the family in the evening. Grandma and Grandpa used the bedroom and bathroom on the main floor to avoid the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms.
Built in 1899, A House On The Corner is a turn of the century, two-story, brick vacation rental located within the historical district of downtown Salida, Colorado. The house has three bedrooms (one king, one queen and one trundle bed) and two full baths. The house is decorated and equipped to make this vacation home a real home away from home. Historic downtown Salida and the Arkansas River are within walking distance. All linens are provided, and the kitchen is fully equipped. Also, one of the bedrooms is located on the main floor, which might be a consideration for those guests with disabilities. The house is clean and smoke free.

This property was better than described. Great location. The home had everything we needed & more. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch after a day a skiing and taking it all in. The house has been well maintained, clean, and had plenty of room for our group of 6! We look forward to staying here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We rented the house on the corner for our August getaway to Colorado. This home had everything we needed for a relaxing time. We enjoyed the proximity to downtown, farmer's market on Saturday mornings at the park, concerts at the Riverfront park, riding bikes through the alleyways in Salida. We rented a jeep at Anderson Motors and 4 wheeled through dust, rain and snow all on the same trail. Go visit Steph at the GreenCat Gallery downtown. So much fun! Thanks for a memorable stay.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

2nd annual 1/2 marathon and bluegrass festival! We had a wonderful weekend - house is perfect in every way. Charlie (2 1/2) loved the trains and track. Spent lots of time outside walking to and from town and river. We love Salida, and we'll be back for sureDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Comfortable family home: What is not mentioned prior is the way the house is arranged... young children can be sleeping, older family members can retire early to watch television and read in the bedroom off the ktichen- and everyone between can still stay up and talk or play games in the dining room. We had three generations during our recent stay- my neice lives in town and would visit with her infant, and we would all be comfortable in the evenings when we gathered there for dinner. Bonnie is wonderful to work with! I hope the home is available when I next visit Salida- I would be hearbroken to stay anywhere else.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+.

My wife and I, 2 boys, my mom, and dog had a very enjoyable time at the house on the corner. The front porch made for a sunny place to relax and read. The boys were able to walk 2 blocks to the park and play. The house is well located for walking around town and accessing some of the local trails. We found the house to be well equipped and clean.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

These folks keep a clean, charming, well stocked place that's even better than the description. Unlike most places where a sharp knife is hard to find, you will not want for anything. Clean, comfortable, and a great location too.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+.
