Come experience true southern comfort. Bring a smile and a suitcase...that's all you need.
You'll find stylish luxury & antique ambience blending perfectly w/21st century convenience when you stay in the Taylor Manor. Located in Savannah's coveted and prestigious downtown historic district. The handsome Manor (along with its former Carriage House (renamed Taylor Cottage) was lovingly restored in 2001 by the current owners.
Our aim, as owners, is for our guests to feel like they're in a vacation rental 'home', not a vacation rental 'house'. No sofa sleepers to tip-toe by or stumble over as all the beds are inside bedrooms. There are 3 Queen Bedrooms on the second floor and the 4th floor bedroom has 4 beds (Queen, Full and Daybed w/trundlebed) to sleep a total of 12 in superior comfort.
Taylor Manor has several features unique to historic district homes.... 1. driveway plus unmetered (e.g: free) street parking. 2. Hypoallergenic (light curtains, little to no carpet, polished wood, tile, marble and stone floorings and all mattresses are encased.) 3. Pet-friendly (seems an oxymoron to be hypoallergenic as well but....not with soft leather or wood furnishings, light linen draperies and hardwood/stone/tile floors.) 4. Roomy closets (very rare in historic homes built in the 1800s) 5. Central AC/Heat plus Ceilling Fans in every room.
Best of all... we believe in serious comfort! Everything you need is at your fingertips. Beds are comfy, comfy, comfy! The open traffic pattern allows groups large and small to gather easily and yet find their own nooks of privacy. Sunshine spills past light/sheer curtains and casts plantation blind shadows onto polished, original, heartpine floors, marbled hallways and the terracotta tiled Kitchen floors. (No upholstery / heavy rugs /carpeting for dust mites or allergens to hide in). The antique Dining Room table and Antique Oak Dinette easily accommodates your group of 12 for meals.
We especially like water.....Enjoy the jetted whirlpool tub/ shower or stretch out in our antique 6' claw tub/shower. A convenient half bath is located on the first floor. Best of all, soothe sore muscles and enjoy a glass of wine or hot chocolate while soaking in our Outside Hot Tub (extra fee) surrounded by twinkle lights. Squirrels and birds cavort in the pecan tree that shades the courtyard. Into charcoal.... grill up steaks or burgers on the grill outside in the Courtyard. As to sleeping....mattresses are COMFORTABLE. (I've had guests call to ask me who the manufacturer was....several times).
Free WiFi access, board games, Nintendo Game Cube/games, & three TVs plus DVD-VCR players, a book library and a Stackable W/D laundry closet with a second dryer downstairs makes your stay cozy and enjoyable for every member of your group and whatever weather conditions prevail.
While pictures tell a thousand words (and I've provided plenty)...a quick review shows that there are four (decorative) fireplaces in the Manor. Wide archway entrances separate the living areas providing easy access. The front foyer with its marbled floor & high ceiling'd chandelier has a charming halfbath at it's opposite end. The huge kitchen is fully stocked w/all the dishes/cook and bakeware you need to make meals. Three faux french doors lead from the Kitchen to the Bilevel Deck where twinkle lights surround the Hot Tub and built in bench seating. Below the Deck, foliage surrounds the patio furnished with chairs and umbrella table. The rose-arbored gate leads from the Courtyard to the rear driveway which fits 2 cars parked front to back. Additional parking is available free on Taylor Street which fronts the Manor entrance. But car not required because the Manor is located right in the heart of the Landmark Downtown Historic District. Trolley and Carriage Tours will pick you up/drop you off at the doorstep! Walking Tours are only steps away. The (only) full-sized grocery store (Kroeger) is on the south end (6 blocks away), Forsyth Park is also south of the Estate (4 blocks), River Street is on the north end (7/10s of a mile from the Estate), the local winery is 3 blks away and all the Squares, shops, cafes, restaurants, antique stores (and, of course, everything SCAD for those loving the college life) is all around you!
We are non-smoking (allowed ONLY in the courtyard, not deck/balcony or interior). And... you can bring fido with breed/age pre-approval. (Pets, if approved, must be crated when unattended and housebroken). A fenced dog park is in the rear northend of Beasely Park across the street.
No absentee owner or neglected home here! Owners live next door to the Manor and rent the homes out separately. You'll find the home clean and well-maintained.
All in all...our 145 year-old, historic Manor places the ambience of the 19th century in your hands along with all the comforts of the 21st! Book away.

You'll love the stroll back to the quiet friendliness of the Estate's neighborhood where you'll enjoy sweet slumber on wonderfully comfy beds amid an ambience of luxury!
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: My husband, myself & our two kids (along with two cats, two ferrets & a dog :) purchased, lived in & lovingly restored the Manor back in 2001. As a licensed, general contractor, Mike made restoring the home a family project that he headed up. Memories & a sentimental love for the Manor (along with its original Carriage House and our own homes next door- also part of the restoration) remain strong. Mikes folks joined in on the restoration. The original intent was never for the Manor to be a rental. Hence, floorplans, choice of appliances, placing outlets everywhere, & putting in roomy closets were the 'convenient touches' which made our historic 1870 home meet the needs of our 21st century family. For years, Mike & I laughed, worked and homeschooled our girls while living in the Manor. Mom & Pop initially lived in the Cottage (which is what we renamed the Carriage House after its restoration). Years later, Mike and I made the decision to turn our lovely historic home... into a vacation home rental. So in 2007, we again moved our little family of four, (different) cat, (same) dog but sans ferrets... next door to the Manor. Fast forward to present day... Our girls are college graduates! One from SCAD. One from AASU. I now share the inside information on the best to do and see in Savannah (gleaned from actually living myself downtown for the past 14 years) with my guests. Because, no matter what the ages in your group...it's been an age of one of my family members either now or in the past! I know what and where we go...have gone....and/or wish to go! Living in the South has been great. Mike grew up Yankee. I was a California girl. Our girls were initially Carolina Cuties. But since 2000 they have proudly worn the title of georgia peaches! We love the South, the Lord, and Savannah. No other city is as beautiful. Our wish is to welcome you as we were welcomed....with warmth and hospitality
Why the Owner Chose Savannah:
We moved to Savannah from North Carolina when my husbands' job had him travel there. The landmark historic district is breathtaking and so walk-able! Everything I could want is walking distance. And when you walk, it's through beautiful, shady squares with outdoor cafes, moss-draped spanish oaks, carriages going by, cobblestone streets, & all these gorgeous historic houses. I loved it. Initially, when we first arrived in Savannah, we had moved to a 'cookie-cutter' subdivision within the city. While nice...that was not where I wanted to live. I had fallen in love with the 'real' Savannah...the original Savannah. That... is the 'landmark' historic district. (Note to the wise...the original GA colony borders constitutes the Landmark Historic District' . It stretches 1 mile x 1 mile from the River to Gwinett St (which marks the halfway point of Forsyth Park) & from MLK to Broad Street. Pass those street borders and you'll find things are not as easliy walkable as they should be. It's going to be a bit more like a hike. And some areas close to you are.... hmmm...sketchy. So be aware and be careful where you book). So...being in love with the Landmark historic district mean't buying a home there. Which is what we did and why we continue to live next door to the Manor. Plus...it's so convenient because when the Manor and/or its Cottage (which we also rent out separately) isn't rented by others, we can enjoy the outdoor Hot Tub or use the homes for our own out-of-state family/friends coming to town.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
Walking to everything! Antique Stores, Boutiques, funky shops and clothing stores will beat the malls everytime:). Plus, major chains and high end retailers are throughout the historic district as well. I love the quaint, outdoor cafes and the stylish restaurants- and strolling home under moss-draped oaks through the famous Savannah Squares. It's great taking the dog with us when we go for coffee in the morning. The friendliness of the people. The cathedral which is breathtaking. In fact, all the churches are incredible...so historic and beautifully built. The trees....I can just go and drive, bike, or walk, and stare at all the moss laden trees and the flowers in bloom and just feel the relaxation start seeping into my bones. The Savannah Theatre has a live variety show that is equal or excells those you'll find in Vegas, Branson, or even New York. You simply can't ask for a better place to live..festivals, street fairs, fireworks all summer long. Love it. Plus...the cuisine alone takes months to try to actually taste and try it all!
