Why the Owner Chose Savannah
We moved to Savannah from North Carolina when my husband job had him traveling there. The landmark historic district is breathtaking and so incredibly walk-able! Everything you could want is walking distance and you are walking through squares with outdoor cafes, moss-draped spanish oaks, carriages going by, cobblestone streets, these gorgeous historic houses....loved it. But, initially we moved to a "cookie-cutter subdivision" in the city. But, you can find those subdivisions in any city and Savannah, while nice as a small "city" is not where I wanted to live....it was in the real, true Savannah...which is the landmark historic district. So...we bought a home there and live there while we rent out our vacation rental property as well.
The Unique Benefits at this 1870's Home + Carriage House
Walking to everything! The boutiques beat the malls everytime. Outdoor cafes. Taking the dog with us when we go for coffee in the morning. The friendliness of the people. The cathedral which is breathtaking. In fact, all the churches are incredible...so historic and beautifully built. The trees....I can just go and drive, bike, or walk, and stare at all the moss laden trees and the flowers in bloom and just feel the relaxation start seeping into my bones. The Savannah Theatre has a live variety show that is equal or excells those you'll find in Vegas, Branson, or even New York. You simply can't ask for a better place to live..festivals, street fairs, fireworks all summer long. Love it.
Famous for its fountain which has graced numerous magazine covers and large grass field for soccer/frisbee/sunbathing/picnics/shakespeare festivals etc, you will find a large playground, shaded, tree
Famous for being the site where General Shermans troops camped during the occupation of the city during the Civil War.
Street Fair first Saturday of the Month during the Summer with fireworks most summer weekends, you'll see tankers the size of hotels as Savannah is one of the busiest commercial ports of the USA. Wear
Doggie run (fenced and half an acre), jogging/bike path, baseball diamond, large grassy playing field, playground, and plans to move the home of the former nun to the park as a museum, makes this park

Includes Railroad Museum and train rides as well as site for trolley tour pick up.
Boutiques, shops, restaurants with outdoor music entertainment most weekend nights as well as site to pick up trolley and carriage tours.
Owner's Map of Savannah
My husband, myself, our two kids, cats, dog and My in-laws purchased the home in 2001 and lovingly restored it. As we planned on living in the Manor ourselves, the appliances are high-end and "quiet" so that conversations as well as life would be easy. We bought out our in-laws several years ago. We live next door now having moved out of the Manor when we decided to have it become available as a vacation rental home. The Carriage House is lovely. Realizing it would eventually be our own home or one for our parents when they get too old to live alone, we outfitted it elegantly but sensibly with seniors in mind..hence a discrete/camoflauged ramp access, wheelchair entry sized first floor bedroom/bath and lovely/elegant grab bars in the walk in shower as well as a hand-held shower head and optional shower bench were priorities for us. Due to our love for animals but dislike for animal hair...there is scant carpet and so avoided upholstery and carpet opting instead for soft leather, polished wood flooring, marble, stone, and tile. Our children are now in college and late high school. Both have been homeschooled since early elementary.
Mike is a contractor so restoring the home was a family project he headed up and so our memories and sentimental love of the Estate( as well as our home next door which was a part of the restoration) will always be strong. Mike was a yankee as a child and I was a California girl. Our own children were Carolina Cuties during their preschool and early school years. However, since 2000 they have proudly worn the title of georgia peach! We love he South. We love the Lord. We love Savannah. No other city is as beautiful and we wish to welcome you as we were welcomed....with warmth and hospitality.
