Catfish Cove Retreat cottage surrounded on 3 sides by crystal clear water. Picture yourself on a private point with 35 acres of hills, hollers, trees, and a small cottage right in the middle. If you are looking for a very secluded getaway, this is it!
Catfish cove is our R+R Getaway. Our batteries always feel recharged when we go back to reality. We just re-finished this cabin from top to bottom. The small 800 square foot cabin has a antique rustic feel .It was gutted and all re-finished with New kitchen, oriental rugs, cotton quilts, wrought iron, Candles, Zebra skins, natural woods and a great wood stove for heat.
Furnished with comfortable new and antique furniture. The whole place just feels cozy especially those cool evenings with just a wood burning stove. We have Direct TV,DVD,VCR tapes or CD's. Believe me this really helps with family bonding and your love life. We sit out on the porch sometimes hours watching the trees grow from our 5 person hot tub. A good card game in the evening always brings us a little closer together.
Catfish Cove is right on the lake. It takes about 10 minutes for a fit person to walk down to the water through large mature trees. You could drive your four wheel vehicle about half way down. In the winter you can see the water from the top of the hill 200 feet from the cabin. There is not a water view from the cabin. The cabin is totally surrounded by mature tree's all around the cabin. In the summer all the leaves are out and I don't believe in cutting trees down just for a view. If you like nature this is the spot.
On the North side of our point is a cold-water creek. It flows down from the hills. This cold creek creates a haven for all kinds of fish especially dinosaur-sized catfish. The south side of our point is calm and quiet. This makes it a great place to tie a boat up for the weekend and walk up to the cabin.
The West side is the point where we enjoy swimming and sun bathing. Because you can't see any other people and hopefully they cannot see us, we have been known to swim in our birthday suits. As you look out over the shoreline you don't even see another house. Picture spending the afternoon in the water and in the evening have a warm fire going with a pole in the water. About a hundred feet from the cottage is the highest point. Covered in sandstone granite this is where we have our evening bon fires.
Cookeville is a great friendly town about a scenic 15 minute drive away. Cookeville is full of things to do. A lot of the national chain restaurants or small quaint local places are here. Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Kmart, Shopping malls etc. etc. are scattered throughout town. I have not counted them, but I know there are at least a dozen state parks close. Cookeville boat dock is about 5 minutes by land or about 15 minutes to our cove by water. We found a to die for waterfall only found by boat near the marina. Burgess Falls State Park is a short drive away. Nashville is about an hour drive.
