Nestled high above Lake Travis (near the famous Oasis Restaurant/Mansfield Dam and only 25-30 minutes from downtown Austin) Lake Travis Lake House is a 10 acre retreat with spectacular views of the main body of Lake Travis. This gorgeous 3-bedroom, 2-luxury-full-bath home was completely remodeled in 2005. Chefs will be amazed at the ultra-high-end kitchen, featuring a Viking Stove, Sub-Zero Refrigerator, granite countertops and imported travertine sink. Designers will marvel at the floor-to-ceiling travertine bathrooms, with an oversized soaking tub and magnificent European-style travertine shower. All will sleep well in the tastefully-decorated fully-furnished bedrooms.
Imagine sitting out on the large porch watching the sun set over the lake, strolling around the 10 acres admiring the other "residents" (including Egyptian Arabian horses, rare white peacocks and Pygmy goats, among others), or picking fresh herbs and vegetables out of the organic garden! And while you may feel a million miles away from the stress of the city (since the property is almost completely surrounded by the Balcones Canyonland Nature Preserve), you are in fact only minutes from every imaginable type of retail and restaurants (10 minutes from Lakeline Mall, 20 minutes to the Arboretum/Domain and 25-30 minutes from the heart of downtown Austin).

Our experience at this Lake Travis home was beyond our expectations. The home is wonderful and the location provides country relaxation with easy access to Austin and surrounding communities. We easily did day trips to Fredrickburg and San Antonio and returning home was always a relaxing end to the day. Fresh eggs and vegetables, acerage for morning or evening walks and the respectful and accomodating hosts were all bonus touches that made our vacation one of the best we have ever had. If you have a chance to rent this home, take it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We spent a week in June 2010 and were thoroughly pleased with the home, spectacular views and all the surrounding fun things to do. We had four children 6 and under and had no trouble keeping them entertained away from the house, it was a little harder while at the home because the house sits high on a cliff and there was really nothing for them to do outside. Lake Travis is an awesome place for boating fun and Volente Beach which is a small water park turned out to have some really fun rides. And the owners were super nice and very accommodating.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

There are 6 of us girls that do an annual trip, so this isn't our first time, so we KNOW what is normal to expect out of a rental. And let me tell you, THIS place was worth every penny. The area is AMAZING, the hosts were incredible, and it is exactly what it says it is. We had an incredible time and will definitely go back! You'd be CRAZY not to consider this place. It was great for us girls, would be great for a romantic get-away and would even suffice for a place for the kids to run around. It really was a perfect weekend!!!! Thank you SO much Tom and Suellen! It was JUST what the dr ordered! You two were wonderful! See you again very soon! Only beef I have is that the house could have used a better cleaning lady. Beds were clean and bathrooms were fine, but it was things like spider webs in the corners and needed a better once over on the floors with the broom and mop. Other than that, truly comfy! You may also consider bringing some better outside chairs. Seating wasn't the best.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We stayed here over the fourth of July weekend, and we had a great time. The house is up to date with great kitchen and bathrooms. It is about 30 minutes to downtown Austin with no traffic. The Anderson-Mill area is a shorter drive (15 minutes or so), and has an Alamo Drafthouse which was very good, and a Kirby Lane cafe (not the same ambiance as the original, but the migas were still great). The house sits on top of a hill, and the view over the lake is great. It's less than a ten minute drive to the Oasis for an even better view. We loved visiting the animals on the property (horses, goats, chickens, peacocks, dogs, and cats), and Tom brought us fresh fruits and vegetables straight from his garden. Austin was experiencing a significant drought when we visited, and the lake level was very low. The closest public lake access (which is a short drive away) was completely dried up. The owner, Tom, was pleasant and helpful during our stay. I would definitely recommend this location to a friend.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

We had the privilege of staying in this wonderful house over the Christmas holidays. The house is just as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. The owner made us feel at home by putting up a Christmas tree and some decorations! We were able to bring our dogs and they enjoyed visiting with the farm animals as much as we did! The area is very scenic. Lots to do in the area - we had a couple of great hikes. Austin, and all it has to offer, is easily accessible. Tom, thanks for a week that gave us many special memories!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Thanksgiving on the farm was one of the most delightful and peaceful vacations ever for our family-perfect. Tom had thought of everything including his fabulous blueberry muffins. Our grandson was amazed at the animals and Tom helped him feed the animals and gather eggs which was a treat for our grandchild. Thanks for all. The James FamilyDid you find this review helpful? My family just returned from a wonderful week at this home. Tom was so accomodating and welcoming- we received warm muffins upon our arrival! This is a truly unique property located on the hillside above Lake Travis. Next to a wildlife sanctuary and tucked up a long driveway you will reach true peace and quiet (except for the wonderful sounds of the animals). Although you will have privacy, the home is only 5 minutes from several grocery and big box stores. This lovely home, built in the 1940's, has exceptional bathrooms and kitchen. You will feel truly pampered! The bedrooms are modest sized but furnished well. One thing that I will mention is that the 3rd bedroom does not have window treatments as it is more of a den- so if you are light sensitive, check with the owners first. Other than that one small detail we found everything we had hoped for. Enjoy your stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 16/19
