The Alta House Chateau is the largest of our 6 properties in scenic Girdwood, Alaska. This 2 BR/ 2 Bath, comfortably spacious home sleeps 8, and is located within walking distance to shops, restaurants and outdoor activities, as well as to Alaska’s only year-round resort, Mt. Alyeska and The Hotel Alyeska
The Chateau features panoramic glacier and mountain views from every room, a 42” plasma television, an espresso machine, charcoal grill and a luxurious, covered outdoor hot tub.

Our vendors offer a variety of excursions including paragliding, glacier and wildlife cruises, rafting, dogsled tours, and flightseeing, through our complimentary concierge service. Girdwood is located approximately 45 minutes south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway. Make sure you look out for Dall sheep, beluga whales and other wildlife while driving along the Turnagain Arm and Chugach Mountains. It is the perfect base for daytrips around the state, since it is located near Alaska’s most cosmopolitan city, Anchorage, a short drive to world-class fishing, and a flightseeing trip to some of the most awe-inspiring scenery on the planet. Girdwood is located in North America’s northern most rainforest, and is home to the historic Crow Creek Gold Mine, remnants from the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake, an Alaska Railroad stop, the Alyeska Tramway and a community of individuals waiting to show you your next adventure.

Good times at the Alta House Chateau. We had a great time the house made things very comfortable for all of us. Hot tub was the icing on the cake. Nice location in the quiet neighbourhoods. Girdwood is so nice when it is sunny. I think we counting over 8 paragliders flying on Alyeska when we were there.
Recommended for:People with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

"I had the fantastic opportunity to stay in the Village Cottage, one of the Alta House's rentals in Girdwood, AK. I wholeheartedly recommend them to everyone! The accommodations were absolutely perfect. It was serene, yet close to town. It was quiet, even though we had neighbors. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I'd ever slept in. I have arthritis thoughout my body and the mattress actually gave me a great night's sleep and I awoke feeling more refreshed than I had in a long time. Attention was paid to details. One of my favorite things was having fresh ground, good coffee, not the pre-packaged stuff you get in chains. And they give you plenty of sugar and creamer, not one or two tiny packets. There was a full sized coffee maker. The water was delicious and it was wonderful to wake up, sip delicious coffee looking at the trees and mountains out the windows. The bathroom had a real bath rug, not one of those minute towel-like things many places provide. There was a an easy step-in large shower with superior water pressure. Next time I come to visit my son, we will make plans to stay with Alta House, even though my son has an apartment about an hour away. It was that good. I wish I could live there!"" You deserve the 2011 Best of Anchorage award! And thanks again for helping to provide the best part of my two-week visit to Alaska.
