My husband and I - plus three 20-somethings - recently stayed nine nights at Casa de Valencia in Tamarindo. When I read reviews written by others, I always wonder if the writer is anything like me? What is perfect for one person is not for another, just because our needs and priorities vary. But I have to say that, for my family, this was the perfect house in the perfect location. The house was clean and well appointed with everything we might need: lots of towels, beach chairs, dishes, glasses. The kitchen was well equipped with all of the cooking and serving pieces that anyone would need. Everything worked - including the air conditioning - and everything was clean. The photos of the house and the property shown on this site accurately depict the house. What you see is what you get. When we stayed there, only one other house in this five house complex was occupied. For the most part, I "owned" the pool in the yard. Let me tell you, I loved relaxing in and around the pool on this vacation. The house is close to restaurants and activities, but not too close. We really didn't want to be smack dab in the middle of high traffic areas. Debra is accurate when she says that you have about a 10 minute walk to get to restaurants, grocery stores and shopping. I also agree with her that the preferred way to get to town is by walking along the beach. Debra's not kidding when she says that the beach is only about 100 yards away, just across the road and down a path. Tamarindo beach is beautiful and natural. It seems to run the length of the town and, when the tide is out, and it seems to be about 40 yards deep. If you are female, I would also recommend that you take Debra's advice regarding footwear. I took five pair of shoes, but never wore anything other than flip flops. The road is uneven and dusty. High heels and fancy shoes just don't work well there. Before arriving at Tamarindo, we spend three days in Playa Hermosa. While this was a great place to begin the vacation, Tamarindo has a lot more going on. Having said this, there is more than enough room for everyone on the beach and walking up and down the sidewalks. This is nothing like the Mayan Riviera or Hawaii, where there can be "wall to wall" people. I'm very glad we chose to stay there for most of our vacation. You will find Debra to be very prompt in replying to you. She's also very patient and willing to answer any questions you might have. I highly recommend that you consider Casa de Valencia.

Debra's home is very comfortable and enjoyable and Debra made it inviting right from the start. The rooms were nice and had interesting art in all of them. There were plenty of towels, beach chairs and boogie boards for our group as well. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped (outside of garbage bags and dishwashing soap which we purchased easily enough). The pool area was also a welcome respite from the midafternoon sun after the beach. It's a short walk to a variety of restaurants and shops which makes it very convenient. Thanks for making this a wonderful holiday.

My husband and I stayed at beautiful Casa de Valencia in March, 2012 and it was wonderful! This was our third stay and we are already booked to go again next year to make it an annual trip. We love the quiet location and privacy that this home offers still within walking distance to town. There are security gates and a 24 hour security guard on duty. We love the pool and the wonderful outdoor patio. The home is decorated beautifully and the beds are extremely comfortable. My husband loves to cook so we made use of the well stocked kitchen and modern appliances. Our first visit to Casa de Valencia was on a second honeymoon and each visit since has been terrific! My husband and I rented Casa de Valencia for the month of February; it was our first experience renting a house anywhere. Having been to Tamarindo several times in the past, we knew where we wanted to be, and that old adage, "location is everything", is so true. The house is in a very pretty complex of 5 units and the beach is just across the street about 2 minutes away. Town is about a 10 minute walk albeit the road can be dusty; we had a car so that was not an issue. The setting of Casablanca is very attractive with established foliage and very well-maintained common areas. Housekeeping was provided twice a week, and our housekeeper was very efficient and pleasant.....this was a nice bonus for a monthly rental. There were guards around, and they, too, were very accommodating and helpful. From the moment we contacted the owner through VRBO, she was extremely easy to reach and once we got to the house, she was happy to give us lots of suggestions of things to do and places to go. The house itself, Casa de Valencia, was beautifully decorated (we looked at all the other units, and this one was definitely the most attractive). It had a well equipped kitchen and nicely appointed furnishings and folk art everywhere. The outdoor patio and covered porch were nice additions and often utilized by us. All that said, we must admit we were surprised to learn our unit was not a free standing house; it was the bottom floor of a duplex. No where in the descriptions we read about Casa Valencia did we see that, so upon our arrival, we were taken back a bit. It turned out that we could hear people above walking around and the heavy furniture on their patio created loud, scraping sounds each time someone moved chairs etc. It didn't become problematic until a few days after we came, when a group of 6 adults moved in upstairs for two weeks, and that ended our quiet time. The pool area is lovely but small when a lot of people are around. That group also had a 4th couple come to join them every day at the pool, so basically, there was not much room for us....they started partying every morning at 11 and that became their routine for most days. Furthermore, one of the other houses also had 6 guests for the same two weeks. We understand the need for owners to rent their houses, but with 16 or more people around, the property is on overload. I guess it was our misfortune to rent in the busy season. There are no guarantees about the no. of guests in the other units

What a memorable stay I had at Casa De Valencia! I stayed in mid January for a week with a group of friends from Italy. We all fell in love with it. The house is beautifully decorated with such taste and has all the amenities we could ever want or need during our vacation. We love that as soon as you step out of the door the pool is right there and that you can walk to the beach. We all had a fantastic vacation and we definitely stay at Casa De Valencia again the next time we visit Costa Rica. Thank you!

Muchas gracias.

Our family for one week (6 adults) and my husband and I for 2 weeks had an amazing stay in Tamarindo....your property is a delight....we were very comfortable and can't say enough as to the amenities...all the beds were extremely comfortable, the place was clean (and kept clean by staff), there were plenty of towels both for the beach and bathrooms, kitchen was well equipped and the exterior grounds were well kept and lush. The proximity to the beach and town is excellent. We walked everywhere to restaurants, for groceries and sunset drinks! We have been renting vacation places internationally for many years and Debra's home was one of the best. We have travelled to Costa Rica 3 times in the past and the Tamarindo area is perfect...people are friendly, good restaurants and other amenities and yet it appears relatively untouched by the influx of tourists. It is not a stretch to imagine a return visit at some future point! Thank-you for sharing your home and for being so considerate of the needs of the traveller.

I really think this place is ideal: 1. Close to downtown, (but not too close) 2. Close to the beach 3. Tranquil setting (lush garden, pool, quiet, etc.) 4. Very picturesque property, and nicely decorated interior 5. Very secure property with gate, security guard, etc. 6. Has everything you'd want in a house, (AC, fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, cable TV, wifi, etc.) 7. Excellent value compared to what you'd pay at a hotel We really enjoyed our stay here, and I'd absolutely recommend it!

Hey Debra, Wow, what a wonderful holiday experience we had in Tamarindo, Costa Rica! You were the best travel agent we could have asked for and everything went off without a hitch...from the pickup at the airport, the hot weather, the short walk to the beach, the wildlife and the rum by the pool! Thank you for opening up your home to us! The RPM staff were very helpful and did a wonderful job at looking after us! It was absolutely amazing and we have spread the word to our family and friends! We hope to someday return to Costa Rica and will definately look to you and your home the next time around! Can't say enough about you and your home! Hats off to Casa de Valencia and Costa Rica!!

Well Debra it's back to reality after spending two wonderful weeks in your Costa Rica home. The location of Casa De Valencia is ideal, close enough to Tamarindo centre that a short walk on the road or beach gets you into town in no time. From dining at the Capitan Suizo Friday night BBQ to the variety of restaurants, it's all close at hand. Sunsets at Noguis are still a soothing experience. A cool down dip in the pool or two minute stroll to the beach were the hardest decisions I had to make. The Casa itself superbly equipped, cutlery, dishes and glasses galore. The beds were so comfortable we slept like babies. I should mention that the security and maid service was excellent. I have been visiting Tamarindo since 1993 and I can safely say that Casa De Valencia was second to none. Regards, John & Shirley McAllan

Thank you Debra for all your help and quidance in planning our holiday to Costa Rica. Everything went very smoothly. We had such a wonderful and relaxing time. The villa Casa de Sueno was great. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the deck looking over the pool and seeing birds, squirrels and iguanas. The weather was hot and humid so it was nice to come back to an air conditioned place and relax or go for a swim in the pool or across the street to the ocean. We never had a bad meal. We did the beach restaurants to the more expensive one for supper and they were all great. We did a lot of walking and found the streets dusty, rough and no sidewalks; so make sure you have a flashlight for night. If you need a taxi, they are there immediately. We enjoyed our chats with visitors from the other villa at Casablanca Resort. Thank you to Syd and Lynne for the use of your villa. It was very comfortable for us; it was a shame we did not have more people to share it with us. One of the bedrooms did not get used. It was great to have the two bathrooms. We have been home a week now and our thoughts are still back in Costa Rica. We are planning to come back again. Thanks for the wonderful holiday.

We recently stayed at the property and was very impressed with the home. The property is located in a quiet area of Tamarindo with easy access to the beach and downtown. Many meals were eaten on the terrace and the pool was a bonus. I would recommend this property as a alternative to a condo or hotel room.

We spent a lovely week over Thanksgiving in 2009 at the Casa Valencia. It was a terrific vacation for us. We really enjoyed the pool, and having a fully equipped kitchen was a real plus. A short walk to a beach for swimming in bath warm waters. The grounds were spotless with Howler Monkeys and lizards in the trees. A very tropical and authentic feel. We did an ATV tour and a sailing trip, both highly recommended. A great vacation for our family!

We just got back from 10 days in Costa Rica at Casa de Valencia and had in my son's words "the best vacation every" which is big from a 17 year old! He was able to surf almost everyday and on the others we took in some other adventures, including the zip line and an all day tour to Palo Verde National Forest to visit the crocs! Your house is so comfortable and has all you need to cook in and relax. We added a couple of movies to your already extensive collection which came in very handy with teenage boys in the evenings! Debra, you were so wonderful to work with, I wish all my vacation planning would be that great! It literally was the first time that we actually got what we where told we would get! Fabulous, hope to go back again in the future.

Back at home in Germany we have to state that it was a very good decision to come to Tamarindo to your house. We felt “at home” from the very first moment on. Your house, so lovely and comfortable equipped, so quiet, the arrangement inside the condominium with the pool, the old trees etc., the service with RPM people, all these things gave us the feeling of Pura Vida. We had a wonderful time in Casa de Valencia and we can highly recommend this lovely place.Imke & Juergen Boeye, Germany

We spent New years in Tamarindo at the Casa Valencia ! It was a fabulous vacation and a New Years that we will all remember for the rest of our lives. There were bonfires on the beach and tons of fireworks, that are on any other day illegal in Tamarindo. The place was amazing and even more spectacular than I had expected from the pictures. Tamarindo has some fabulous places to eat, and although we planned to make a lot more of our meals than we did, it was just too tempting to go out to eat since there was a new place to go every night . We went with our parents and family friends to Tamarindo and it was the best spot for this combination. We were able to do lots of day trips with our parents, but at night we had lots of places to go for a good party! We all enjoyed our stay at Casa Valencia even more than we had anticipated. The staff was accomidating, the neighbours were fabulous, the weather was fantastic and the beaches were beautiful!! Thank you for having us! We hope to do it again soon ! :)

I traveled there with my family to get married and decided to have the wedding in the garden of the complex. It was a beautiful setting for such an important occasion and I am so happy that we chose this beautiful place to start our new life together. The home was immaculate and gorgeous with all the beautiful colours and ammenities. I would recommend it to any of my friends or family and hope to return to celebrate many anniversaries in the future! Great experience, Great area, Town is growing, beaches were lots of fun, kids learned to surf. We caught a 7 foot sail fish that made our fishing event a success (although a bit costly and long). Lots of little resturants at reasonable prices (Pizzahut, Subways and TCBY for the kids). House was nice, great pool, lots of comfort. Local stores had basics for food and drink that made it easy for breakfast and lunch at the house. Interenet was an issue in so far that it was up and down allot. So if you need to work don't assume this will always be available. We flew into Liberia and took a car to the house (highly advise) and rented scooters while we were in town. This ended up being the best way to get around

My daughter and I traveled to Costa Rica and stayed at Casa de Valencia for a month. It was a vacation that neither of us will ever forget. The house was beautiful with its bright, happy colors and its modern conveniences. The kitchen was stocked with spices and pots and lovely dishes. And the air conditioning, when needed worked great! The barbecue outside was an extra perk! In a country where Martha Stewart has not yet been discovered , this house was decorated beautifully and smartly and was also immaculate. Outside the house there were beautiful flowers, trees and a pool. Just across the street was a little path to the beach. While I live on the beach in Marina del Rey, there is no comparison. Also across the street was a wonderful woman who teaches yoga and right up the street was a 4 star hotel. You could have privacy if you wanted it or be with people when you wanted that too. There were horses up the road and often monkeys calling to us. During the month we learned to live like the locals. We walked into town to grocery shop and to visit our new found friends who worked on the fishing boats, sold goods on the street and in the local stores. Every day brought another adventure as we discovered hiking paths, watched soccer players on the beach or explored a neighboring town by foot. Tamarindo and Casa de Valencia will live in our hearts forever...and if you are ever there, please tell Columbia at Pedro's Pescadero that Prissi says "hello".

We had a great family vacation at Casa de Valencia. The villa met all our needs - tastefully decorated, well supplied kitchen and plenty of linens. The compound was clean and well staffed with a pool and pleasant poolside area. The location is perfect, with a two min. stroll down to one of the best beaches in Costa Rica. The sandy beach and the gentle waves are great for all ages. Most of the best restaurants are within walking distance. Our family is hoping to make this an annual event and will not consider staying anywhere but Casa de Valencia.

Casa De Valencia is an easy, comfortable and colorful home. The layout makes it easy to move about the house. The furniture is stylish and comfortable. The decor is colorful and festive. The kitchen is well designed and fully equipped for home cooking. Eat breakfast on the patio as the pool and surrounding garden beckon you. It's walking distance to everything in Tamarindo and yet on the quiet side of town. It's the perfect place to hang. My husband and I will be returning in 2009 for our third trip to this lovely tropical Paradise.

Surfers- The best thing about Casa Valencia is that you are 15 minutes from Playa Grande, 20 minutes from Avellanas, 25 minutes from Playa Negra and 40 minutes from Playa del Coco where you catch the boats to Witch's Rock. I would surf Negra in the morning, have breakfast, surf again, go back to Casa Valencia for a nap and a little satellite tv-- then back to Negra for an afternoon surf. Casa Valencia is nicer than my own house in Manhattan beach. Gated parking for your car. You will not find a better place to stay.

We stayed at Casa Valencia during the Christmas holiday week of 2007 and found it to be exceptional. The casa has modern appliances, was well decorated, clean and quiet. The grounds surrounding the casa and the pool were well maintained daily. The quiet beautiful beach is accessible by a path which is right across the street. So you can become acquainted with the area and the casa, the owners provide a detailed guide booklet which is very helpful. I found the owners to be very helpful and knowledgable about the area. I would highly recommend this casa.

I will recommend this vacation rental in a heart beat. I visited Costa Rica in summer 2005 and Casa de Valencia was our 'home' for a week in Tamarindo. I was most impressed with how this vacation villa was tastefully furnished and decorated with artwork from local artists. The place was spacious and well-equipped with all the essentials. It comfortably accommodated the six of us - three moms and three teen-age sons. With daily maid service, we were able to relax and enjoy the resort-like setting with privacy and convenience. Everywhere was in walking distance - beach, restaurants, shopping, ATV/Canoing/surfing classes ... There was even an outdoor Yoga/Pilate class for the moms!

I loved the way the house is decorated with all of the beautiful colors and interesting local art. It's totally modern and fun! Plus, it has a great location - within walking distance of all the cute shops and restaurants and a stone's throw from the beach. And it's very quiet, private and safe in the small gated community. Would love to go back in a heartbeat! Lynne
