We enjoyed our stay here very much and were pleasantly surprised by how clean and well-equipped this cabin was. Do take your own food --it's much too secluded to have a grocery nearby. Lovely for star gazing and hiking. We are already planning a return trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This property is wonderful. It is situated in a secluded, beautiful meadow with a great view, and plenty of access around the area to spots for exploration. The cabin itself is equipped with everything you need.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the cabin for 3 nights along with our 9 month old son. It is the perfect size, and love that the bedroom opens up to a screened in back porch. The cabin is very cute and has all the necessary amenities. The outdoor fire pit was awesome at night, as it got a bit chilly, and the stars were spectacular. Location was good, 20-30 min drive to some small towns - Monterey and Warm Springs, we drove into Monterey for cute gift shops and Warm Springs - tried to go to the Jefferson Springs but it costs $17/hour so passed on that. There is a swimming hole about 5 min from the house over a suspension bridge which is very cool, we went one day for a dip and had the place to ourselves.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is and excellent weekend retreat! I wish we had more time to take in the all that highland county has to offer. Our family spent two nights at Highland Meadows and we can't say enough good things about it. We've rented cabins all over Virginia and this is by far the most secluded. If you are looking to get in touch with nature and tune out the rest of the world for a few days this is the place for you. I recommend the swimming hole on the Bull Pastor River as well as just enjoying the scenery at the cabin. It’s a perfect place to spend quality time with your family or close friends. I'm pretty sure that there are very few places in the world that the night sky is as spectacular as it is here. Enjoy!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This lovely wood cabin is in the middle of a large meadow with mountain views and woods nearby. All was clean and bug-free. The kitchen is small but well-appointed--lots of dishes, microwave. Bring food--it is a long way to town. We stayed here for a weekend in June and enjoyed the weather--warm days and cool evenings. The front and back porches are large, and the back porch is screened-in. We ate our meals on the picnic table on the back porch. We enjoyed watching the bird (a phoebe) that had made her nest in the rafters of the front porch. The front porch has some chairs, but bring some deck chairs for sitting on the lawn. We played horseshoes on the lawn (provided at the cabin). We grilled hamburgers (grill provided at cabin) and had a campfire and s'mores in the evening. The sunsets were beautiful. This is a great place for star-gazing. The skies are very dark, the Milky Way stretches out across the sky, and there are good horizons. A real treat for city dwellers who never see the starry night sky. Bring binoculars for both bird-watching and star-gazing, or a telescope if you have one Our group included my Dad who is in his nineties and my grandniece who was less than a year old, and both enjoyed it. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.
