Situated on the island of Key West, the magnificent brick structure that houses this residence was originally built around 1845 as an iron works at the then Fort Zachary Taylor Military Annex. Constructed in the impressive Spanish Colonial style, the clean and simple architectural lines of this period were originally designed to imbue a sense of civic pride. Even today this classic brick building evokes a sentimental remembrance about the U.S. when American democracy was in its infancy.
Renovated in the 1990's by a local private developer, this beautiful Historic Foundry structure was re-designed as townhouse condominium residences in what is now known as the residential neighborhood of 'Truman Annex'. This upscale island neighborhood was renamed for President Harry Truman who spent his winters in at the Annex at his home known as 'The Little White House.' His famous residence, which is now a museum, is just down the street from the Foundry.
The renovation of this property created an expansive condominium with high ceilings, few interior walls, lots of French windows and a graceful classic entrance. The front entrance is private manicured grounds complete with roomy sitting porch. Double French doors painted white, with transom windows lead into the open air living room and galley kitchen.
Located off the kitchen area is your own private side courtyard. Beautifully manicured with many plants and trees. You can relax on the deck or have a drink or dinner at the table with friends.
The tri-level design of this residence maximizes the use of space and creates privacy with three distinct living areas. The first floor of this residence is comprised of the living room, kitchen, and a half-bath.
The stair case continues to the second floor where you find the first spacious bedroom, complete with a king size bed and a full bath. Off the bedroom you will find a private balcony. The second floor also houses the conveniently located laundry center hidden behind closet doors. The stair case then leads to the third floor where you find the second spacious bedroom, complete with a queen size bed, and a full second bathroom. Both bedrooms are carpeted and nicely furnished.
Kitty corner from the property is the resort-style heated swimming pool that is shared with the condominium complex. The heated pool, complete with lounge chairs, is just steps away, in a beautifully landscaped cabana pool garden area. Another feature of this residence is private designated parking which is located at the rear side of this property. Each unit is allocated one parking spot.
Grounds throughout the gated Truman Annex are park-like - exquisitely landscaped and manicured to picturesque perfection, making it a delightful neighborhood to walk and bicycle. From here you are just a few minutes walk to Duval St. and the center of downtown Old Town Key West. White picket fences, freshly clipped hedges, green grounds and fountains create an impressive back drop for your stroll. Why the Owner Chose Truman Annex
Truman Annex is one of the best locations in Key West. It is a gated community with about 450 Homes,Townhouse and Condo's. So you get a variety of places on a well kept piece of property. The location is within walking distance to just about everything. Within blocks to all the bars,restaurants,beaches,entertainment.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
Our unit is very spacious with 3 levels. The first consists of the living area, kitchen and half bath. It has a great front porch along with a very private side courtyard. We really enjoy sitting on the front porch watching the people pass by and talking with the neighbors. We also like the privacy of the side courtyard for dinner or drinks.On the second level is the master bedroom and a balcony. The third level is another master bedroom. It is a great set up for when family and friends visit. It feels very spacious and roomy.

We are Jen and Mike from Columbus Ohio. In 1998 we decided to take our first trip to Key West at Christmas/New Years. We stayed in Truman Annex in a shipyard unit. We really enjoyed the Island, it made a great first impression. We could not wait to come back the following year for Christmas/New Years. We plan this trip every year during the same time. In 2001 we decided to try another location in Truman Annex called the Foundry. We really liked the location and the units. In 2004 an end unit came on the market. Because of our love and enjoyment of the Island we decided to pull the trigger and buy it. We have enjoyed every minute of owning this unit. We have been coming to Key West for the past 13 years. We really enjoy the atmosphere, people and the local culture. We have been renting our unit since 2004 and it has been a great experience. We have meet so many nice people and enjoy opening up our townhouse to them so they can enjoy the Island and location like we do.

Just finished a week in Key West at this beautiful townhouse. If you are headed to Key West THIS is the place to stay. Quiet, yet a perfect location to experience everything in Key West. Minutes from Duval St., Mallory Square, and beautiful sunsets. Thanks Mike and Jen. We look forward to coming back.

What a lovely condo! It is a beautiful place and was exactly as it was represented. We did not have one problem and everything was clean and in working order. We have been to Key West 6 times now and this was the first time we stayed at Truman Anex. It's so perfect.We walked everywhere ,enjoyed quiet time sitting on the porches. We felt like we were off the beaten path but we close to everything. Use of the pool was handy,too.Loved ,loved,loved it and plan to use your condo next time we come down to the island that we love so much!

My husband and I just returned from Key West after staying a week in this townhouse. All I can say is we'll definitely be back! Our first impression when we stepped through the front door was, WOW! It's so beautiful - the online pictures really don't do it justice. The next thing we noticed was how incredibly clean the unit was. Because we typically stay at The Gardens or Marquesa we've been kind of spoiled, so while I was optimistic about staying in the townhouse, I didn't get my hopes up too high. Now I know I should have never wasted a minute on worrying if we would like the place. The location is fabulous and convenient to everything. You're close to the action if that's what you want, but just enough removed from Duval St. that it's nice and quiet. Also, our communications with the owner prior to arrival were great. Mike was very responsive to the questions we emailed him.

As native Floridians, we still visit the Keys every year for a taste of the relaxed, tropical lifestyle. We stayed in this townhouse in July 2010 and absolutely LOVED it! The location is fabulous, the unit is clean an well-appointed. Ice cold air, comfortable beds, nice towels, good TVs, beautiful outdoor seating areas. Piece of advice, Truman Annex is very nice, but not all of Truman Annex is created equal. You get what you pay for, and the Foundry units are top-notch. Solidly constructed, very little outside or neighbor noise. This unit is a great value for the quality you get. And the owners are very friendly and responsive. Even though we don't have a car, we appreciated the parking space for our babysitter and our mopeds. We have already booked again for this summer! LOVE IT!!!

This is a terrific property, the condo is beautiful with plenty of room and you can't beat the location. It is close to Duval but very quit--except for those darn roosters--oh well, they are part of the fun of KW. We have already booked again for next year!!!
