Family and friends gather together at “Thee Gathering Place.” This home away from home has the warmth and love for everyone to enjoy the peace and quiet of a mountain get-away. The log home is nestled on the back roads of beautiful Ashe County, yet it is year around accessible. There is a lot of room for walking, hiking, bike riding, or four-wheeling. Enjoy rocking and swinging on the front porch…enjoy cooking out on the back deck, overlooking the rim of the Blue Ridge, all while enjoying all the sounds of the birds, crickets, even a wild turkey, or deer stopping by to graze in the yard.
On cold nights enjoy the warmth of the gas logs from the stone fireplace, while watching direct TV, surfing the internet on your lap top, or just talking to a family member back home on the unlimited long distance. (No international calls please.)
The full-size kitchen is equipped with all the necessities of home for cooking including: paper products, cookware, an original chopping block, and more…Everything needed for preparing home cooked meals or just a simple cup of coffee.
The bedroom on the first level has a queen size bed, a TV with DVD player for playing movies, easy accessible full-bathroom, and a private door that leads out onto deck for watching the stars and moon at night or to listen to the sounds of the mountain breezes.
Two bedrooms are located on second level - one bedroom has a queen bed, one has a double bed. Each bedroom has a telephone and a full-size closet. A full bathroom is located on the second level.
The lower basement level is a private get-a-way complete with a large bedroom with queen size bed, full bath with stand-up shower, and sitting area-game room, which has a fuse ball table, card/gaming table and TV with DVD player. A futon is located in the game room and can be used as an additional bed.
Off from the game room is the washer and dryer area with detergents available to washout those unexpected dirty clothes. In the basement storage closet, a highchair and crib are available for the little one.
Throughout all levels of the home, nostalgic memorabilia and retro décor accents the rooms.
The cabin is approximately 15 miles from Boone and ASU - home of the famous Mountaineers. While visiting Boone, for great home-style cooking visit the famous Daniel Boone Inn, family style restaurant. Downtown Boone shopping includes lots of antique and other specialty shops. You haven’t stepped back into time until you visit Mast general Store on Main St.
For skiing visit Appalachian Ski Mountain, approximately 19 miles from cabin,located between Boone and Blowing Rock. Hawks Nest, just a short drive off of HWY 105 near Foscoe, offers great snowboarding and snow tubing. Sugar mountain & Beech mt, are approximately 28 miles from cabin.
Approximately 10 miles from The Gathering Place are the quaint mountain towns – West Jefferson and Jefferson. Both offer neat shopping destinations. An unusual treat is to visit the Ashe County Cheese Factory. Watch a variety of cheeses being made, enjoy delicious cheese samples and visit the factory’s gift shop. Be sure to visit the famous Church of the Frescoes. And, enjoy a wonderful, traditional southern-style meal at Shatley Springs, located off of Highway 16. The restaurant is opened Easter – Thanksgiving (typical schedule).
On the way to West Jefferson, veer off and stop by the famous Todd Store, located in Todd. It’s approximately five miles from the cabin. Spend a summer Friday night listening to mountain Bluegrass music. A different band every Friday night – call the store for weekly band line-up.
If you like water sports, you must visit the New River at Todd. The river offers great canoeing, white water rafting, tubing, swimming, or fly fishing.
Get out and explore the Blue Ridge…There are some great golf courses in the area, horseback riding, or just sightseeing on the famous Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
We as a family & friends enjoy our cabin which is located about three miles off 221 in a very quiet & peaceful log home community, very little traffic on our mountain, great for our grandchildren and their friends .Lots of paths for our family to hike,four wheel, or bike ride. We enjoy sitting on front porch,swinging, or rocking and listening to sounds of nature. Our back deck is where we enjoy at nite watching the moon come up over the realm of the blue ridge, while having that favorite drink or a great cup of coffee.. Deck is also where we enjoy cooking out and eating together while enjoying the sights of nature.
We all enjoy cooking together and eating a delicious southern meal from our kitchen and family room, especially breakfast.
At nite we all enjoy sitting on the deck, or front porch enjoying each others company, while talking and sharing about our great times together, just loving each other and cherishing the times we spent together with family and friends at Thee Gathering Place. Winter time we enjoying each others company while watching tv and enjoying the warmth of the fireplace, with that favorite cup of hot chocolate or that favorite dish of ice cream. At the end of the day, we all retire to one of our comfortable beds, and give God thanks for another great day and for all our many blessings.

The cabin was perfect for our trip and so clean. We had the wrong house when we first arrived (lol) but the owner was so patient with us. We stayed at the cabin most of the time and grilled out. I loved it and will definitely be going back!

I went to The Gathering Place with four of my friends and my future husband for New Year's and some skiing. We had such a wonderful time in this beautiful, cozy, and hidden away in the beautiful mountains that I cannot wait to go back. We had so many things that we needed and Peggy was so gracious as to be flexible with us with check-in and check out times. She was great. We certainly will come back and we most certainly will recommend this to anyone!!!

We went skiing in Banner Elk every day , it takes just under an hour to get to the resorts. For the price size of this cabin you can not get any better. The beds were comphy. The kitchen has everything you need. We liked that the cabin was out of the way, you could see all the stars. If you have a big family or on a trip with friends this is the perfect place.

My wife and I stayed here with our 4 kids over the Christmas Holiday, we had an amazing time. The cabin has all the amenities that you may need. Our kids spent the majority of our 7 day stay playing with the foosball table in the game room while my wife and I were on the dinning room table doing puzzles. The cabin was nicely decorated for the holidays. The cabin is only a 15 minutes drive East of Boone and the access roads are good (No big inclines or hills to worry about). I have already recommended this Cabin to another family and I would stay here again. Thank you Peggy for letting my family stay in your Home. Alex M.

This was one of the most beautiful enchanting homes that we have rented to date. The owner was wonderful and accomodating. The house was decorated beautifully for Christmas. We could not have asked for a better rental to entertain our northern guests while celebrating our sons graduation from Appalachian State University. The house is fully equipped with any and everything you would possibly need. I can't wait to return..

To look at the home on line does not give it all the compliments it deserves. It is very nicely located. Beautiful inside and out. Very roomy. We really enjoyed our stay. Wish I could have stayed longer. I will return next year. Hopfuly with my whole family.

Our family had a fantastic time over Thanksgiving at this cabin. The house was very clean with all of the things we needed to enjoy our time there. It is in an ideal location, close to West Jefferson, Jefferson, Boone and Blowing Rock. Our family was very comfortable there and we made some great Thanksgiving memories. Our daughter even cooked her first turkey! We would highly recommend this cabin for any visit to this area.

My three sisters and I had our 1st "Sister's Vacation" and stayed at The Gathering Place. The cabin was wonderful and we felt right at home as soon as we entered. We each had our own bedroom which was great! The owner is very gracious and we were so glad we rented a cabin that had "everything" we needed! There are lots of things to see and do close by however the cabin is so comfortable you may want to just stay there and relax! Cabin is highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time at The Gathering Place. It was in a terrific location for us...close to Boone for the ASU football game and even closer to West Jefferson for local cheese and shopping. The kids enjoyed the house as much as the grown ups! There was a foosball table, puzzles, books and movies to keep them entertained. Cant' wait to go back when it is a little warmer when we can take advantage of the porch swings and hiking trails!

The e cabin was a wonderful place to visit. The location was so easy to find also very close to everything. As we entered the home we knew we were there from the pictures and description of the property. It was decorated so pretty.The outside was very well manicured, the inside was clean and everything was in its place. We had one question for the owner and she called us back within 5 minutes and took perfect care of our concern. I do recommend this wonderful place for anyone interested in staying in the mountains. We visited Boone, Blowing Rock , Linville Falls and many more places. Fun Fun!!!
