My had a reunion of sorts when we came to Boone for a wedding. Miss Peggy's house was perfect for our group! The house slept our 7 adults, 2 teenagers and 1 baby perfectly. Miss Peggy goes out of her way to make sure your stay is the best.

My wife and I enjoyed staying at the Gathering Place. Everything was as presented in the description and was maintained very well. Peggy, the owner, was very helpful, and communicated everything we needed to know. I would recommend this great cabin for anybody considering a stay in the mountains. I hope to stay here again whenever I get the chance. I loved the place. The privacy was great. Hard to point to one thing, but I really enjoyed the deck off the kitchen, and the front porch with the wind chimes. There was also a great porch swing off the basement. I loved hearing the wind and will miss the cool breezes that I experienced. I loved the smell of the natural wood. It reminded me of a cabin I stayed at in my childhood. I wouldn't change a thing about the cabin.
Owner response:Paul& Joanne: Thanks for the kind words about our cabin. We try very hard to make everyone feel at home, and glad you enjoyed your visit. Have a great summer, and come back any time. God Bless Ralph & Peggy

My family and I visited North Carolina in February in the hopes of seeing snow for the first time. We wanted a cabin that was in a remote area with lots of woods and no noise. This cabin was perfect. It was very quiet yet close to town so that we didn't have to travel a long way to see the sites or to go to dinner. Everything we needed to make this stay enjoyable was available, including the snow. I will definitely stay here again when I visit the area.

I went to The Gathering Place with four of my friends and my future husband for New Year's and some skiing. We had such a wonderful time in this beautiful, cozy, and hidden away in the beautiful mountains that I cannot wait to go back. We had so many things that we needed and Peggy was so gracious as to be flexible with us with check-in and check out times. She was great. We certainly will come back and we most certainly will recommend this to anyone!!!

We went skiing in Banner Elk every day , it takes just under an hour to get to the resorts. For the price size of this cabin you can not get any better. The beds were comphy. The kitchen has everything you need. We liked that the cabin was out of the way, you could see all the stars. If you have a big family or on a trip with friends this is the perfect place.

My wife and I stayed here with our 4 kids over the Christmas Holiday, we had an amazing time. The cabin has all the amenities that you may need. Our kids spent the majority of our 7 day stay playing with the foosball table in the game room while my wife and I were on the dinning room table doing puzzles. The cabin was nicely decorated for the holidays. The cabin is only a 15 minutes drive East of Boone and the access roads are good (No big inclines or hills to worry about). I have already recommended this Cabin to another family and I would stay here again. Thank you Peggy for letting my family stay in your Home. Alex M.

This was one of the most beautiful enchanting homes that we have rented to date. The owner was wonderful and accomodating. The house was decorated beautifully for Christmas. We could not have asked for a better rental to entertain our northern guests while celebrating our sons graduation from Appalachian State University. The house is fully equipped with any and everything you would possibly need. I can't wait to return..

Our family had a fantastic time over Thanksgiving at this cabin. The house was very clean with all of the things we needed to enjoy our time there. It is in an ideal location, close to West Jefferson, Jefferson, Boone and Blowing Rock. Our family was very comfortable there and we made some great Thanksgiving memories. Our daughter even cooked her first turkey! We would highly recommend this cabin for any visit to this area.

To look at the home on line does not give it all the compliments it deserves. It is very nicely located. Beautiful inside and out. Very roomy. We really enjoyed our stay. Wish I could have stayed longer. I will return next year. Hopfuly with my whole family.

We had a wonderful time at The Gathering Place. It was in a terrific location for us...close to Boone for the ASU football game and even closer to West Jefferson for local cheese and shopping. The kids enjoyed the house as much as the grown ups! There was a foosball table, puzzles, books and movies to keep them entertained. Cant' wait to go back when it is a little warmer when we can take advantage of the porch swings and hiking trails!

My three sisters and I had our 1st "Sister's Vacation" and stayed at The Gathering Place. The cabin was wonderful and we felt right at home as soon as we entered. We each had our own bedroom which was great! The owner is very gracious and we were so glad we rented a cabin that had "everything" we needed! There are lots of things to see and do close by however the cabin is so comfortable you may want to just stay there and relax! Cabin is highly recommended!

This comfortable, well-equipped cabin was perfect for the three couples who were looking for a mountain retreat. We were greeted by scarecrows, pumpkins, autumn wreaths, and pumpkin chair covers. The autumn theme was repeated inside with pumpkin plates in the cupboard and decorations on the mantel. The cabin is located in a quiet, wooded area of Ashe County. It is convenient to the frescoes, Glendale Springs, Sugar Grove, Valle Crucis, Blue Ridge Parkway, Todd General Store, Boone, Mount Jefferson, Shatley Springs, and Blowing Rock. A fully equipped kitchen made cooking and cleanup a breeze. The large table easily accomodated all of us at meals, and it was nice to have an ample supply of dishes, utensils, mugs, and glasses. Gas logs provided a warmth and glow as we sipped coffee and reflected on the day after our evening meal. Each couple had their own bedroom and full bath on separate levels. Beds and pillows were comfortable, and extra blankets were available in each closet. A game table downstairs was the center of laughter and tall tales one evening. We took our own game but found many games available in the cabin. There was also an adequate supply of video tapes. Television reception was great, and we watched the World Series. Having a phone in the cabin was a bonus. On a scale from one to ten with ten being the top, this cabin rates a ten. We will return!

We found this rental a pleasant experience which was accurately portrayed by photos and listing information. The owner was very accomodating to all questions and concerns. We found the rental extremely clean and pleasant. The listing information reflected the ammenites fairly accurate for what was available. The rental location was easily located with our GPS. The Parkway was lovely for this time of the year and we enjoyed our ride checking out the beautiful leaves. We visited the Ashe County Cheese factory in West Jefferson to get some of those cheese kurds and special cheese to take back home for later. We also checked out the Tanger Outlet stores, favorite being the Kitchen Collection store. We always go out to eat the last night of our get away and this time we chose the Japanese Makato Restaurant in Boone, it was good food and entertainment. When we weren't out we had a relaxing time out on the deck which was still warm during the sunny days and the mountain view from that vantage point was quite pleasant. This rental will remain on my list of places to visit again in the future and if asked I would recommend for it's cleaniness and owner's accomodating responses to any questions one may have.

Our family stayed here just last weekend and it was wonderful. The home was large enough for all 7 of us, with our oldest son being in a wheelchair, and still plenty of moving around room. The home is beautiful and furnished with so many things that make it easier than other places we have stayed to be away from home. Dealing with the owner was a delight and she made sure that we had everything we needed including answers to questions concerning our son and even destination stops around the area that would be accessible for him. We will definitely keep this cabin in mind for future visits because of the owners as well as the fact that it is in the heart of so many wonderful things to do in the mountains.

Take time to closely review the owners description and the amenities, you’ll get a good perspective of what a really great deal you get by selecting “Thee Gathering Place”, a 4 Bedroom 3 Bath Log Cabin, as your Blue Ridge Mountain rental choice. So, I won’t list all the essential needs that they more than adequately supply nor all the adventures that we went on while there, I’ll just emphasis that it’s THE convenient location for visiting and exploring activities in Boone, Blowing Rock, Jefferson & West Jefferson, The New River, Todd, Valle Crucis, etc., etc., with a closely located North & South entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway to reach all the overlooks and adventures that it offers. Our son and his family conveniently flew into the Charlotte airport from Wisconsin and my wife and I drove up from Florence, SC. They were extremely pleased as they drove up to the cabin. The look on their faces said everything! We enjoyed the accommodations that more than met our expectations and provided the peace and quiet of our mountain get-away. It helped our family make many pleasant memories! We look forward to our next visit.

The cabin looks exactly as pictured. It had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast. We loved relaxing on the large back porch. The view is gorgeous. There was plenty of room for our party of eight. There were plenty of areas in the house to hang out so everyone was not on top of each other. It was a very quiet area and we would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

We really enjoyed our week long stay in this cabin----the descriptions were accurate, the photos were current and reflected the cabin well, the property was clean and well maintained. Peggy was very helpful and readily available via email and phone for any questions or concerns. I would definitely recommend this property for a family or friend retreat---4 bedrooms with an extra sleeping area downstairs---easily sleeps 7 very comfortably and more if you have children. We went tubing (check out River Girl in Todd), bike riding (check out the Virginia Creeper bike trail), hiking at Linville Falls (beautiful) as well as shopping and great restaurants in Boone and Blowing Rock. The back deck was perfect for dining outdoors, and the view was incredible!!! We ate most meals outside and played games out there until long after dark--then the star gazing was AMAZING!!!! I can't say enough good things about this cabin. We will definitely rent this property again!!

Our friends (family of 4 - with 2 young children) and us (family of 3 adults + 1 newborn) had a wonderful time in the log cabin. The amenities were well thought out. The rooms were well maintained. The bathrooms, game-room, bedrooms and kitchen were well stocked. The house itself was a little on the darker side on the inside, but we did not really mind that much. Although it was a bit of a secluded location, and the last few hundred yards of the drive to the house up the gravel driveway took some getting used to, we felt quite safe and comfortable. I also thought that the rental was well priced. After a few days of our stay we also received the security deposit in full. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the stay and will return at a future time.

This was my family's first "vacation" together. This home helped make it one of the best weekend's we've ever had! The home was very comfortable and exactly as described in the listing. There was plenty of room for 6 adults (2 couples and 2 singles) and 1 child. The location was perfect for us! We went to Grandfather Mountain and Tweetsie Railroad. We would highly recommend this home to anyone.
