Accommodations: House, 5 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 3.5 Baths (Sleeps 7-12)
Keywords: House, Lakeside, Beach, Huge Deck
This home is just two short blocks to the oceanfront. 3,000+ square feet of luxury living awaits you in this two level executive home on beautiful Lake Christine. The best of both worlds -- ocean and lakefront. Water views from nearly every room.
This home was newly renovated in Spring of 2010 with all new furnishings, small appliances, bedding, linens, dishes, pots & pans, and cutlery. Unlike most beach homes in southern Virginia and Nags Head, our prices include linens, set up, customary exit cleaning service, and laundering of sheets, towels, and linens. Just bring yourselves and life preservers for small children.
There is a huge deck with granite top table, quality deck furniture as comfortable as your living room, furnished gazebo and gas grill. Hot and cold exterior shower for removing beach sand.
The spacious rooms and large deck/gazebo are ideal for family reunions, gatherings and retirements. Children love paddle boating and fishing on the lake from a small private dock. There is both ocean and lake fishing. Two bikes, paddleboat, fishing poles, crab nets and crab traps, horseshoes, croquet, and badminton games are provided. There is a Beach Buggy to move small children, beach umbrellas, chairs, snacks, and fishing equipment to the beach. Bring or rent a surfboard, kayak, or canoe. Send the kids to the three-day neighborhood Surfing Camp. There are only a few rental homes in this year-round residential neighborhood.
Within Croatan Beach, the oceanfront has a dedicated area for surfing at one end of the beach and at the very opposite end of the beach (Atlantic Avenue); there are lifeguards and other city services such as playground, bathrooms, and paved parking lot at the dunes. In between, the beach is never crowded as it is surrounded by private residences and very limited street parking. Croatan is a very low traffic area.
There is just so much to do nearby in addition to sunbathing on sugary white sand--surfing, beach fishing/crabbing and biking in the immediate area. Croatan is "walking distance" to the boardwalk (public resort area), lots of really good seafood restaurants, deep sea fishing, shopping, Virginia Aquarium, whale/porpoise watching boats, Auto World bumper/racing cars, Water Park, Miniature Golf, boardwalk rental bikes (individual, tandem and family surrey bikes).
At Rudees Inlet, there are party fishing boats and private charter deep sea fishing, jet skis, and wind surfing. All this within 5 blocks North or South. There is a free city trolley for transportation all around town and to the tourist sites and shopping centers. The City of Virginia Beach has fireworks on Wednesday and Sunday nights, live music and entertainment on the boardwalk about every 5 blocks, and ever changing festivals. Kids and adults love to ride bikes on the Boardwalk. Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, historic Yorktown and Jamestown, Norfolk Waterfront with its ships museum, Navy Base carrier tours, and Chrysler Museum are all within an hour away. Nags Head, the Wright Brothers Flight Museum, and Coralla wild horses are 75 minutes away. There is just too... much to do for a week or even a month.
The house has four (4) TVs and DVDs, Wii games (Mario kart and resort sports), movies, and board/card games for rainy days. For the techie types, there is DSL, Wifi, and an MFC fax/scan/copier/printer.
Please - No Smoking, no pets, no high heels on wood floors, - - Sorry for any inconvenience.
Virginia Beach has a wonderful, long beach season that starts in Spring. Late March, April and May have very balmy, warm days with clear blue skies. Spring flowers and shrubs start blooming from Mid March. Needless to say, Summer is breezy, sunny and hot. September, October and early November are delightful. The Weather is great and the Water is warmest in the Fall through early November.

We were so happy with this home. You can't believe how they have thought of everything. It seems apparent that this is not just a rental home. Someone treats it as their own home. The kitchen is brimming with every item you could need. There are towels, sheets galore. Two bicycles. Beach chairs. Beach toys. A fax/printer. I can't name it all. Where else are you going to go that supplies a gaming system? The lake was so peaceful and relaxing that we didn't miss being right on the beach at all! I would recommend this home to anyone. My sister's family and my family really enjoyed it.

This is one of the best places we have been away from home. The house is very well equipped. The kitchen has top-of-the line appliances and is spacious enough to accommodate every culinary need. The bedrooms are plentiful and very well placed. We were a large crowd with kids (12 all together) and liked the fact that each bedroom had a bathroom next to it. The living room is very large with a lot of sitting area and a good selection of movies and games. Too good, I would say as some of the kids were more interested playing with Wii than going out. The deck and the gazebo was wonderful, too. We loved eating outside (lunch, for evening is dinner time for mosquitos, too). The location is wonderful as well. The lake is so tranquil and relaxing. The beach is 3 minute walking distance (with 3 year olds). The beach is great and not crowded. A little further north (15 minutes walking distance) starts Virginia Beach with all the beach amenities and businesses - we had a couple of 8 years old take surfing lessons. The house provides all one needs for the beach - umbrellas, towels, beach toys and a buggy to carry them around. Even a couple of bicycles. Virginia Beach is 7-10 minutes driving distance. Great place to hang out. It could be crowded in the weekends and parking could be difficult. Close to the house (7-10 minutes) is a water park and a great aquarium. Suffice to say we were there for 9 days and felt sorry to leave and will certainly look forward to come back. My only recommendation is for the owner and agent to arrange for recycling. I felt terrible throwing in the trash all those beer and wine bottles and all other recyclable material. It seems to be an issue in Virginia in general, for I saw only a few blue bins out for collection. In fact when I asked a neighbor, he laughed and thanked me for trying to save the world!?!? In this day and age, when there are places that recycle 90% of solid waste, people still ridicule the effort.
Owner response:Hi - The heavy traffic referred to is at the Boardwalk area which is about 10 blocks from our home. Croatan is a very quiet neighborhood and considered the best-kept beach secret in Virginia. The City picks up trash every week but recyclables only every 14 days. A private company does an extra weekly trash pickup. Recycling does not work for weekly rentals as trash has to be stored inside. No wants to live with someone else's trash or recyclables.

We usually vacation in the Outer Banks, but decided to try Virginia Beach. This house was great and well equipped - probably one of the best equipped rental homes we ever stayed in. Not only were there linens and towels, but there were also beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas, boogie boards, bicycles, and a beach buggy that sure came in handy. It was a nice short walk to the beach with no traffic to worry about. The neighborhood was very quiet and we spent a lot of time on the backyard deck and gazebo - - - eating, drinking, talking and reading. What a relaxing vacation it was. The only negative was that the dishwasher broke down. When I called the management company, they did get a repairman over within a day. However, parts had to be ordered so it was down the whole week, but it didn't dampen our vacation in the least. I don't know when, but we will be back.

My family and I stayed at this beautiful property during our winter vacation. We really appreciated the warm and welcoming feeling as soon as we walked in. Each room had a water view and even in the cold, we spent time on the great deck! We visited during the winter but just can't wait to return in August. We can just imagine how wonderful that will be. We've told several of our friends who are also planning to book this home sometime during the summer. We recommend this property to anyone!!! See Your Review

My family and I loved this home and enjoyed renting it. A few issues with appliances not working but not a deal breaker for us. That is until a huge surprise in our damange deposit. Basically the owners were more then unreasonable about hefty charges for "3 mis-used bath towels" and a pillow...really disappointing after such a nice stay and an alarming price to charge us. I'd be leary in the future and sadly, it's a deal breaker for our future renting of this home.
Owner response:Guest bleached damaged bolster to decorator comforter set ($61.95) and 3 full towel sets ($37.10 each set)--all replaced at our cost. Dishwasher misused--warrantee repair. All other appliances in good order before and after stay.

Our son was married on October 11, 2008. We stayed at the home from October 8-15th. We could not have asked for anything more beautiful, spacious and accommodating for our family needs. We had a lovely rehearsal dinner overlooking the lake, the atmosphere was perfect and the weather cooperated. Thank you for working with us to make this important time in our lives so very special. I was recently married and my in-laws stayed in this magnificent property. All of the furnishings were brand new and the house had been recently renovated. It's a huge home and can easily contain a family -- heck, several families. Croatan Hills is a lovely area within blocks of the oceanfront. You can't do much better than this!
