  My family and I travel to deep creek/wisp very often. The cozy cottage is our preffered place to stay. Its proxmitity to the slopes is extremely convenient, you don't even have to drive out onto 219. The cottage is always very clean and cozy. The kitchen is well equipped. Best things about the house: Excellent Lake view, Excellent view of the slopes at night while sitting in the hot tub!! Great wood burning fireplace! Easy access to the main highway, grocery store, lakefront and Wisp. Would highly recommend the cozy cottage to friends and family. The owners/managment company extremely friendly and easy to deal with!!! Looking forward to our next stay at the cozy cottage.

  We really enjoyed staying at this cottage. We didn't have the best weather during our stay so the hot tub was key for warming up. The house itself is quite nice and right on the lake. I would highly recommend a stay here!!

  We were told we could come in a bit early depending on when we arrived from DC. The house was uncleaned by the time we arrived at 2:30pm. We left to visit the area and came back around 5pm to find it still uncleaned, even though check-in is 4pm. We contacted the owner, left again to go to a restaurant called Hookers where the owner covered our meal, and finally got in around 8pm. We found the couch still broken. It was funny to see my husband sink into the couch and not be able to get up. We looked under the cushion to find the sleeper bed was broken. We didn't use the front door but the back door handle was broken as well. The king bed was very uncomfortable and noisy to move around in. We did not touch the other beds. There was only two of us who stayed in the house. There was a note from the cleaning crew saying they'd give use a gift card to some place and that was not there. My husband was bothered by a musty smell in the kitchen and believed it came from the basement. We did not use the hot tub, dishwasher, 2nd shower, or washing machine. The house was not private either. A rental house was about 100ft next door on the same property on the right side of the house where the hot tub is. This house is hidden in the pictures when the house is advertised on this website. It is a nice house inside (not including the furniture) but we still understand why the house is for sale too.

  Owner response: We are very sorry about the mix up on cleaning. This was a last min booking and the guest did not get there contract back until after 4pm on Friday and it did not get to the cleaning crew. As soon as I was called by the guest that the cottage was not cleaned I offered to pay for them to go have dinner on me. I paid for there meal. The cottage was cleaned and ready for them to go into. Yes we are having problems with the one seat on the couch. We have had it fixed twice now. We may have to purchase a new one. Someone did brake the screen door handle on the back door. I checked out the smell in the kitchen area, have no idea what our guest was smelling. Yes there is a cottage on both sides like all lake front properties. If you want something private you have to go off the lake. We value our guests comments and we strive to make our cottage comfortable.

  We did a last minute rental at our favorite vacation spot.. Deep Creek Lake, and did not want to spend a lot of money. Overall the location was right across a road to the lake but being close to Rt 219 afforded much truck noise. We enjoyed the dock slip where we kept our kayaks and rented boat. This "Cozy Cottage" could have been much "cozier" if a few important items were in better repair. First a few SAFETY ITEMS: The gas grille is dangerous since the control knobs do not work properly and when the gas is "off" it was really on. I managed to control it at the tank but not before the gas ignited with a "poof" as I was lighting it! Second safety item is the lack of steps to get into the nice hot tub. It was OK for me but not for my 85 year old mother. Additional "must fix" items include; - Couches with NO support in the living room.. there is literally NOTHING below one of the cushions and you cannot get up without a hand. - Beds with old mattresses that feel like they are wrapped in plastic - Twin beds in one room without any box springs (Had to pile two mattresses up to make it sleepable - Master bath with a broken off overflow nozzle and slow drainage that fills the tub as you shower - Unstable dresser in the twin bed room that is falling over - Burnt out light bulbs in the kitchen which make the kitchen dark - Broken off front door handle (We used the back door most of the time any way) - NO TRASH CAN TO PLACE GARBAGE (Had to stack garbage bags in the basement) - Washer machine in basement that leaked onto the floor - Broken lock on basement door that made opening interesting So other than the poor condition of the place... We enjoyed DEEP CREEK LAKE! By the way... many of these items were already mentioned in the guest notebook which shows the owners don't really care. The house is for sale... it makes sense.

  Owner response: We like reviews! It is the only way sometimes to really find out what our cottage needs to make it comfortable and Cozy. Renters will report in a review but seem to never address problems or concerns during their stay. It is very important to know about faulty grills etc. for the safety of our guest. We will address this promptly. We do not have trash cans in the lower level, as we advise in our policies where to place the trash, cans only hold a few bags. We stop during the week and take the trash out. As far as the hot tub, it is advised not to have steps as this creates a bigger hazard of slipping and falling. We did find out about the sofa on an inspection of the Cottage, It has been fixed. We try to each week go over the cottage in our inspections and do keep it up to standards. We address the issues as we know about them. I am sure that you as a new guest will enjoy our Cottage as it offers a very laid back and cozy atmosphere that many of our guest have commented on.   Not only a fantastic location. It is equipped with everything you need. The view is outstanding! The dock with the picnic tables...bonus! Very pet friendly fantastic neighbors. If the master bedroom mattress ...could use an update....only slight negative. Thanks! The owner is easy to work with and very helpful.

  We enjoyed our weekend in your cottage. Pro's--location, clean accomodations, good supply of clean linens and bedding, hot tub and fireplace worked well. Price was right! We were able to check out at 1pm without an extra charge. Con's--limited provisions i.e--1 garbage liner, 1 partial roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, no paper towels, limited pots/pans/skillets, no dish towel/dish soap, the washer leaked, the basement door adjacent to outside driveway did not lock. the accent lights over the kitchen sink were burned out (2 out of 3). The directions from the realty website were outdated (made reference to some Point View Inn, and we later found out that the business no longer existed).Still--we appreciate the affordability, and would know to provide most of the paper products and additional cookware if that is how you are able to keep your rental cost reasonable. Overall--we enjoyed the comfortable and clean furnishings, and the lake view was wonderful! Linda & co. Mingo, Ohio

  Owner response: We always appreciate hearing from our renters. It is the only way that we really know what we need to do to keep our customers happy and enjoy their stay at our Cozy Cottage. As to the paper products, we do make our renters aware of what they need to bring with them. We let them know in the form of our policies that we send out with our rental contract. The paper products is the first thing on the list. We will have to look into the pots and pans as this is the first time that we have heard this concern. We are always checking the lighting and bulbs do burn out. The directions might need a little twecking as the Point View Inn was recently torn down. We enjoy having reviews good and bad. We try to look at the bad and make it better. Thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention and most of all that you enjoyed your stay with us. Tom and Jerry

  We stayed in Cozy Cottage for a week last August. After initially having a little trouble getting in (we were locked out by cleaning crew), we had a great time. The cleanliness and amenities were fine. The access to the lake and ramp were great.I would recommend the property and plan to return there for vacation this summer.

  Great location & nice for dog owners, but very dirty. We found the linens and bed spreads covered with hair. The kitchen fllors, counter and drawers were filthy. There were mice droppings in kitchen drawers!!!! We had to mop thekitchen floor wipe out and all kitchen drawers. The kitchen was the worse..... little flatwear, utensils, dishes and pots for a rental home. After we washed and dried all the bed linens oursleves.... place was nice. The dock site issued the house was used by someone else most of our week!!!!!!!!!!! The basement needs a dehumidifier!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not be fooled by the VRBO wesite pictures, you share the driveway with the boathouse that is also rented out...... can be very crowded...... only good news is that there is parking on other side of road at lake. This place is not well managed or maintained!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At that time we were having some difficulties in with our cleaning crew and have sense hired new ones. We have the cottage now inspected on a weekly basis and can confirm that it is clean and well maintained. As for the dock, there does need to be arrangements made if you are going to need one.   House was ideally located with views of the lake and easy access to all local attractions/amenities. After having sampled most of the restaurants in the area we found Uno to be the one we liked best with a good choice of menu. House was comfortable but is starting to look tired and needs updating. Would definately recommend a change of bedding as these were washed out! However place was clean and had everything you would need on a holiday.

As far as updating, most of our renters do like the older look of a lake cozy cottage so we are not sure we want to change that atmosphere.   We liked the cottage because we have stayed at the Cozy Cottage for two summers. It was clean and I would recommend this property to a friend or relative. The only thing that needs changed are the beds. They were very uncomfortable. The lake across the street was lovely and we all spent many hours on the deck. We were able to take our dog to a restaurant nearby. We all enjoyed our stay at the Cozy Cott Cottage..
