Peaceful and Secluded Oceanfront Post & Beam Home on Casco Bay
- Minimum stay:2-7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Peaceful and secluded year-round oceanfront, post and beam home located on the end of a private peninsula on scenic Casco Bay. Fully furnished, 3-bedroom home with large windows overlooking the water. The northern view looks across the water towards Wolf's Neck Woods State Park and the southern exposure features some of the many islands of Casco Bay.
Relax and watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets, shop the Freeport outlets, rent a canoe or kayak and explore Casco Bay, photograph wildlife, eat lobster, and enjoy a coastal Maine vacation. There are many things to see and do that are a short drive from the house. Treat yourself to a dinner cruise on Casco Bay, shop the Freeport outlets and L.L. Bean, or enjoy a performance at the Maine State Summer Music Theatre or a summer outdoor concert at L.L. Bean..
If you prefer a more relaxed vacation, you can spend many pleasurable hours observing wildlife on the Maine coast - ducks of all kinds, Canadian geese, ospreys, great blue herons, bald eagles, and harbor seals. Have fun climbing over rocky ledges and exploring tidal pools that contain tiny fish, crabs, and other sea creatures. Or, you can just relax in the sun and read a good book while enjoying the view.

I would recommend this property to anyone who's looking for a retreat while still wanting access to urban amenities. You feel like you're a million miles away from everything but if you wanted to go shopping in Freeport or Portland both are accessible. It was the perfect balance.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you! Yes, we are fortunate to have such a peaceful and secluded spot located about 10 minutes from downtown Freeport and 20 minutes to Portland. Hope you got to enjoy seeing the baby eider ducks swimming by the house during your stay.

Terrific view, but the house was a bit dated., not as clean as one would expect for the price we paid. We had to completely wash all the dishes and silverware b/c prior visitors were messy. No hot water in the shower b/c the shower valve could not move past a certain point. Bring your own water b/c the water quality is not drinkable. Again, the views were terrific.Recommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: We take great pride in our home, and strive to ensure our guests have an enjoyable experience. We, as well as all VRBO owners, encourage our guests to contact us at any time during their stay with any questions or to let us know if anything does not meet their expectations. We provide all of our guests with our cell phone numbers and let them know they can call at any time, day or night. Owners simply cannot address concerns that they are not made aware of. We do provide five gallon containers of bottled water, with refills as requested. It is very easy for us to adjust the temperature of the hot water for the shower using a specific control in the basement (not the shower valve). It had been turned down at the request of a previous guest that had small children and we forgot to return it to its regular temperature setting. In the 12 years that we have been renting our property, the dishes and silverware have never been put away dirty. It is something that we will definitely be checking in the future to ensure that it does not happen again.

Hello everyone, my family had the great pleasure of staying at this location in August of 2009. We have three grown children, two married, one not. We came from New York, and Boston, Mass. We all had a wonderfol time, the layout was great, lots of room, very comfortable furniture, even the washer and dryer. Location is unbelievabe, Ocean out the kitchen, Bay out the living room. Pictures do not do justice, we actually wouldn't have asked for more. Next time we stay, we will schedule time to get some kayaking in. Location, Location, Location. Thank you for sharing your home, Pat Hacker & FamilyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 9/9
