Refreshing and striking ... we enjoyed our sojourn off the beaten path (state highway 90 is a respite taking you away from I-10!) in Marfa. The art (Chinati was the highlight, but so much more to heighten the senses) was breathtaking, the West Texas landscape stretching into infinity allowed expansion of lungs. Whew. My sister and I hope to return to Marfa and to this comfortable casita. As mentioned, it is refreshing and striking. Clean, amenities as described, as pictured but much more ... the artwork, the thoughtful touches, the colors ... all you would need in the kitchen and a shower that nicely defied our doubts when we looked at what we wrongly felt was odd plumbing; felt great! Great, easy, comfortable communications with the owner ... clean, maintained ... recommend highly! We were 2 sisters, over 59 ... just what we needed. The Casita is not right downtown but definitely within many walking paths en route to downtown, etc. Shake it up, see different things coming & going! You could even easily walk to Chinati though we drove over ... saw some folks biking around town and ... possibly providing bikes would be a crowning touch? But still perfect without ... thank you, for having the lovely foresight to refurbish this adobe casa ... much to say ... stepping into its physically & artfully decorated cool interior from a warm day & the road was refreshing! We'd love to return ...Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: I have owned my houses in Marfa for four years. I love it. I am a designer from California, and I can't get enough of Marfa: the landscape, the art, the culture, the people. Most people who come for the first time return again and again.
Why the Owner Chose Marfa:
Marfa is peaceful. It's the perfect retreat. I have made lasting friends here; the people I have met are incredibly creative, hospitable, interesting, and intelligent. Many writers, artists and film makers have stayed in my house and enjoyed an abundance of creative energy, as I do when I come to Marfa. I am at once stimulated and relaxed here.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I love hearing doves when I wake up in the morning. Marfa Coffee Roasting makes delicious coffee. If I walk to breakfast I will always see someone I know. Morning walks always bring up antelope, javelinas, hawks, vultures, and many birds. Everything is within five minutes.
