Peace. Quiet. Nature. The forest. The lakes. Småland is the part of Sweden where many Americans have their origins.
You will find a typical, but fully equipped cottage, Eriksberg, the summer home of a Stockholm family whose ancestors has lived in this village since the year1550. Next to Eriksberg is Manda-stugan from 1805 built by solid timber and with a huge baking oven/fire place and wooden stove. Manda-stugan has electricity and cold running water.
The houses are situated 1 km from Högsby, where you will find all you need in terms of shopping. They are surrouned by fields - sometimes the cows come to say hello - and one one side is the start of a huge forest.
Also included in the rent is a cabin on the lake, 7 km away. Here you will find absolute stillness and beauty and you can swim and picnic on the deck.
There are plenty of possible excursions to make. To the beautiful island of Öland, where the Swedish royal family has their summer residence. To the impressive castle in Kalmar. To the amazing archipelago of Oskarshamn. To the wonderful Pippi Longstocking children’s activity center in Vimmerby. To the glass handicraft center of Kosta/Boda. And not to forget: the Garbo museum is in Högsby itself. |
