Spring Ranch is one of the most treasured historic homes on the Northern California coast.
The ranch was settled in 1856 by William Kent. Kent made his fortune logging the virgin redwoods in the Big River Basin. To show off his wealth he built this grand carpenter gothic victorian house with exquisite details which include:
12' ceilings downstairs and 10' ceilings upstairs
20' x 40' living room with redwood wainscoating, box-beam ceilings and large stone fireplace....perfect for family gatherings!
15' x 20' dining room with beveled glass china cabinet, 2' crown moldings and french chandeliers.

The home is very large and comfortable which makes it a unique place for families and friends to gather.
The 5,000 sf home is completely decorated with antiques. Every bed has a french quilt and flannel sheets.
Enjoy each others company around the large stone fireplace in the living room, before having dinner in the grand dinning room which sits 12 people.
The property is centrally located just one mile south of the picturesque village of Mendocino. From the house there are unobstructed views across the Spring Ranch Coastal Preserve to the ocean.
The property also has an addidtional guest house for rent with a large living room, stone fireplace, king redwood bed, newly renovated bath and ocean views.
There is also a large barn that can be rented for events and weddings.
There are trails that lead driectly from the house through the 300 acre preserve to the bluffs or a secluded beach. From the bluffs you can watch, seals pupping in the summer, whales migrating in the fall and spring, or 30-foot waves cashing into the headlands during winter storms.

When we go to Mendocino for a weekend or one night we feel like we truly got away. The drive to Mendocino through Anderson Valley is one of the most beautiful drives in all of the USA. The location of the house is ideally situated with open space in every direction and views of the ocean, and only one mile to the village of Mendocino.

We are a family of two professionals and a daughter that live in Sausalito, CA. I grew up on the East Coast where it is typical to have an old large family vacation home on the ocean. We wanted to find a home like this near San Francisco where we could enjoy our family and friends. Spring Ranch has proven to be the perfect venue.
