Perched on a lush hillside overlooking a tranquil bay, this entire jungle lodge is yours. The four private cabins and main lodge building were 'handmade' in 2001 using sustainably sourced local hardwoods and have been designed to allow you to experience the wonder of the natural environment without sacrificing comfort. A cacao (chocolate) farm and organic tropical gardens are yours to enjoy and your private boat captain is on-hand to whisk you off to spectacular Caribbean beaches and snorkeling sites.
La Loma's 23 hectares stretch up from the mangroves of Bahia Honda through tropical forest to the highest point on Bastimentos Island. Accessible only by boat, La Loma offers peaceful isolation from the bustle of Bocas town. The land borders the spectacular National Marine Park and idyllic white sand beaches are only a 5-minute boat journey away.
The lodge and 4 cabins are each nestled in a private location surrounded by verdant jungle. Using indigenous Ngobe Indian architecture as inspiration, we've created beautifully simple and comfortable retreats. Each building has a private bathroom with hot water shower and furniture crafted from local materials.

My partner and I left the UK and our lives as an archeologist and museum specialist to pursue our dream of an exotic and tranquil new lifestyle. Ten years on we don't regret it for a minute. We now call Bocas del Toro our home and delight in raising our 2 year old son in this stimulating environment.
